THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Dat godly music. The new girl is kinda strange imo but also cute in a way. Her voice is kinda of annoying though: ![]() Mm, I guess some of the fighting is alright but the enemies' designs looked weird accompanied with that laugh. Looking forward to next time with the continuous battle as it does look somewhat exciting. |

Wow that music during the alien conference/meeting moment. Aww so each member gets their own support crew. They all seem to fit well with them. The alien machines look bizarre. More lifelike or maybe organic? Time for some action next week XD. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

That commander really is an incompetent dunce... How did he even get to his position? The first half when it was focusing of the generals of the evil alien race felt like a completely different show with Jiart O.O I wouldn't have minded if they did a whole episode focusing solely on them. However, the second half wasn't bad or anything of the sort for me. In fact, Team Rabbits has started to grow on me especially Izuru, Asagicchi)*, and Kei. My question is when Izuru was talking with his pit crew about family and such, I was thinking in my head "Aren't they test tube babies?" Maybe I interpreted it wrong in the previous episodes but it was under my impression they didn't even have foster parents and were raised in the academy from birth *- Was reminded of Kise from KnB when he said that hehe |

It's funny how introducing your enemies can up the scale of an entire show? We are beginning to get to the meat of this show as we are introduced to the Wulgaru high council which seems to be made up of the upper echelon of nobles and the king as well as his younger brother. They look just like humans, almost to the point where I thought on character have walked right out of the earth military. While the Wulgaru group is also made up of walking cliches' just as the MJP group is, for some reason I find the Wulgaru much more entertaining! The Wulgaru appear to be a technologically advanced barbarian race that fights for the glory of the hunt and their entire society seems to revolve around carnal desires and goals. Their entire race seems to go on these epic hunts according to prophecies from their gods. Prince Pleguzas (is that a title? It seems to keep changing as people address him...) Jiart, is a very interesting character as he at first seems like a simple Char clone, however he ends up being quite different since he's the barbarian version. He does what he wants, takes what (and who) he wants, and doesn't give a care about anyone else. It also seems that he has quite a dominating streak about him, and he has a thing for Theoria (Lacus clone), who as been confirmed as an alien herself. Now is Theoria his and the king's younger sister? The king's daughter? (I really hope not, since Jiart seems to have set his eyes on her...o_o) As for our MJP crew, they seem to be trying to adjust to life in the real military but are having a little trouble and a bit of homesickness. They also seem to be having family issues since they don't have any memories of a family to have. (Why is that really a good idea again? What sense does it really make to wipe their memories, it doesn't make them perfect soldiers, it just makes them emotional confused.) They military is organizing a counteroffensive against the Wulgaru known as the Battle of Ceres, however, you can tell from the get go that it will be a failure because of our failure of a pompous tactical vice-chief who ignores all advice and you know will end up getting good soldiers killed. Unfortunately for the Earth Forces, the Wulgaru have already organized an attack against them and I have to admit when I saw the noble council members in battle, I automatically though "Star Wars" with their color coded units. LOL, they had yellow leader, orange leader, purple leader, red leader, green leader, and blue leader. All the colors of the rainbow! :P I like the fact that the aliens ships seem faster and more organic and unique in comparison to the Earth Forces vessels and mechs that look very metallic, unoriginal, and cold. Looks as if we're going to have an epic fight next week and this is the first time I will actually be looking forward to an MJP episode instead of just nonchalantly checking it out. This episode was more than I expected and so I have to give this an 8/10. |

They are raised by foster parents and their memories were wiped out before entering the academy. Not sure about test tube babies part though. I may have to watch the episode again. From the way I understand it, they are artificially and genetically enhanced and created by the military (so yes, test-tube babies), and then given to foster families to raise until they reach the age of 12. At 12, they have their memories erased and are put in MJP for training until they graduate to go into the real military. Its really a stupid and unneeded process to get soldiers, especially since it doesn't seem as if they've been fighting the Wulgaru all that long and there seems to be no shortage of able-bodied adults to apply and/or draft into the military. Wouldn't it be much less of a problem and less expensive to just get soldiers the regular way? The MJP students don't really appear all that special no matter how much the exposition says so. And they say they wipe their memories so they won't have any regrets and will be perfect soldiers. But they will still have memories that they make after their minds were wiped? And actually wouldn't taking away their memories they formed as a child make these teens even more emotionally unstable than they already are? Your childhood forms your foundation of who you are as a person. Why take that away? Memory wipes would only work if you were going to make these kids into unfeeling killing machines, but it's clear that you're not? So what's the deal? All the other soldiers seem to be doing fine without memory wipes, why do it to the teenagers who are going to need their background memories more than anyone? |

Good Episode!!! I like how in the first half they focused on the enemy's point of view as we start to learn a little bit about them. The second half was quite relaxing showing the MP in their new lives experiencing things like family that they have not really thought about in life. That commander really is a bit dunce and he seems to get ahead of himself making me wonder how he got the position of commander in the first place. The MP team are having their calm day although feeling very nervous about their upcoming 'The Battle of Ceres' as well as being disconcerting. The enemy has attacked them and the commander just initiates the plan to the surprise of everyone but I guess they will have to take action at some point. New character Yamada Peko seems like a mysterious character to me for now. Also I wonder when Theoria will make contact with Izuru!? Looking forward to the intense battle in the next episode!! 5/5 |

@symbv: When their ship is about to take-off. There were several English phrases/words during that scene. Specifically, that's before she says 'Blast off!' No need for subtitles to hear that they actually say 'Main engine military' LOL The English portions would be the following: 'Godinion cleared for take-off' 'Cleared for take-off. All ranges: green.' 'Before start check: complete.' 'Start all engines.' 'Main engine military!' 'Blast off!' I'm guessing 'Main engine military!' simply means it's now set for combat operations. |

^ That would count as only one time. Where does the "keep saying" thing come from? I have also done some check in Japanese forums discussing this episode. Fans interpret that statement as "Main Engine, Military", meaning the engine is to be put on military action mode for output (which is supposed to be higher). And there is some discussion about whether it is a bit unusual for a ship that is departing from its bay. |

Well, as the JURIA system (which I also think is stupid and unnecessary) is new and experimental and the only ones who are fit to supposedly test with it are the Fail 5 crew, I highly doubt the mind wiping had anything to do with that, especially since it was started even before they created the JURIA systems. In fact I think it was Rin who mentions that they wipe the kid soldiers minds when they come into the academy so that they will be perfect soldiers. This is not just Team Rabbits, this is Team Doberman and EVERYONE in the MJP. I think that's an incredibly stupid thing to do with teens since they need that upbringing and those memories to make them who they are. without them, they begin floundering like the Fail 5 are, not knowing where they belong, not having memories of being safe and comforted as children, not even having families in order to fight for. You get 20 soldiers fighting for their families, they are better than 50 hired guns. And what are they going to do when the war's over, as they've mentioned in the show. They'll basically just belong to the military to fight whenever they say fight. You'll have an entire generation of maladjusted people who are just being trained to fight and don't really know who they are. |

5/5 Do one vote a little higher than I thought, justified by the fact that he still saw a good plot, even if the enemy does not have a face to characters suitable to be bad! XD Narration interesting and not far-fetched, we have the commander that goes through intrigues and our protagonists who face their day to day life. As far as I know, they are humans genetically modified by normal parents, who before entering academia subbiscono brainwashed to be prepared for their mission. |

I doubt the Wulgaru are humans biologically, because that would make them well...human. However, since they are humanoid (and probably compatible to humans as with many fictional humanoid alien races), they can easily blend in with the populace. Theoria and her valet Daniel have proven that. I am interested to know if Theoria is really just a Lacus clone or if there is more to her. From what Jiart suggests, she's a good pilot, and is she on a mission for her people? for herself? Is she just on the run from Jiart who seems to be domineeringly obsessed with her? Was Jiart her ex? Her brother? Her ex and her brother?! o_o |

IMO it is to make them bindless from anything(past and relationship) and to be able fully control them without having them question about themselves and the higher up. I mean these kids are old enough to some decision that a normal human could and would do but these kids don't. They just listen to their order even if it mean death. Because they don't have the concepts that most human at their age have. Even if they are allow to build a new relationship that doesn't mean they can become like a normal human in just a couple years. Specially, not in that training school and military camp. I think this is the whole point to wiped out their memory, it is to make them a perfect soldier that can fight on their own brain without being brainless. |
