I apologize if I incited your whole debate on the forums this morning, that was not my intention. I agree with you on everything you stated about the plausibility of the show, as I initially stated. The way I look at the show is this: Does the Evolver concept make sense in our reality? - No. Does it make sense within the world of the show? - No, but more so than in our own world. Will I hold this against the show? - Yes, but only when it comes to the end and I am forced to rate it. It honestly doesn't bother me much, there are much greater ass-pulls in shows, many in this season alone.
I guess I just wanted to apologize and say that I appreciate you not going with the crowd, as most people in the community do. Hope to see you continuing to stick to your guns.
I think you are right because their values would crash, but there are indeed a lot of christian and probably other religious people on MAL http://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=12591
I rather watch cyberpunk that is normally not so out there. And focuses more on humans than technology.
Oh don't misunderstand me, I have no Idea about the demographics, I just think that there are many religious people here, because well it's the internet and here are many people, some of them must be.
I give you an advise, ignore personal arguments. No one cares on the forums if you have some beef. Ask them to give actual arguments, if they can't never respond again.
Right, I personally rather not watch sci-fi because they mostly have these problems, and with fantasy you have magic which explains everything.
Yeah we will see. Probably will Ledo become some treehugging nice guy and live with the gargantia people to the very end.
Or everyone dies.
I hope for the latter. Which would actually make this show good.
I think the fact that a big portion on MAL is religious can also prove why people can totally deal with such unscientific things.
I mean if the show was a fantasy show, well okay.
But it's not, it's supposed to be scifi (well yeah that means it is fiction but that just implies it is based on a fictional setting, not fictional science).
The devolution part could probably just be a translation problem, chamber doesn't say it in engrish at least. So it might be a bad translated word. But I think the japanese meaning is the same.
But that wasn't was pissed me off though.
I don't get what the story is trying to tell me. Human genetic modification is bad?
Human genetic modification is good?
I don't get it.
If I was the writer I would say something like "since all beings share a common ancestor it is foolish to treat humans better than everything else, because look here, those squids are basically humans".
But I don't think they are going at that.
Yeah the forums are horrible, most people are so uneducated they have no idea about anything, no wonder urubuchi is so liked, since if you have no idea about anything you dont see how bad he is when it comes to making shit up.
This episode again proved that.
It depicted evolution as some weird mutation like in superhero shows (spiderman etc).
It also used words like "devolution" which don't exist in science. Things cannot "de-evolve" since there is not goal in evolution.
Well it's good that at least ONE person didn't buy that crap.
