Interesting chapter. So, according to that aliens, there is some kind of data that is kept after someone's death. In other words, the "soul" exist and Reika and the others will be reborn in the future in the same family using these data. That is an interesting take in the reincarnation subject. And oh, Kei 2.0 is now story.

Seriously drawing 2 pages of a guy running in tears is kind of a waste...I guess that's how the author works anyways.
Didn't expect Kei #2 to die that fast.

Kurono 2.0 is really stupid. Isn't clear that god will kill him in a glance?

I hope Tokyo Gantz Team don't die too.

I actually kind of hated that souls exists in Gantz. For me it ruined a lot of the hopelessness in this manga (which is one of its main appeals in my opinion). When life is really precious, losing it means everything. Now that we "know" that souls exists in this manga, all of sudden it feels like it's ok when people die. "Oh well, they'll be reborn so it's ok". I dunno... I'm disappointed.

Idm about souls...but I expected something great to happen with Kei...idk why but I just did...oh welll....
I guess it was the only way to make it so there wasn't two of them.

No chance of the alien godly being dieing unfortunately then huh?...
So now there all stranded there lol....I wonder how they'll get back...guessing the original Kei will come to the rescue perhaps?

And is it just me but did that chapter feel like the shortest ever?

Who is hating? In this thread? You must be seeing two dimensions ahead.

The concept of the 21g was supposedly derived from Duncan MacDougall's "experiment". However, the experiments conducted were entirely arbitrary and not scientifically accountable.

However, just like God, so far it is impossible to prove that the soul does not exist. Thus, even from a scientific point of view, you may choose to believe in it or not. It's a personal choice, irrespective of science or not.

The whole 21 grams/data thing and different dimensions, anyone else getting a simulated reality type feel from that?

This also brings up something else. Do Kurono 1.0 and Kurono 2.0 have different souls? It could be that some time in the next 19 years, Kurono 1.0 dies and is the one used for the rebirth. Or it could be a combination of the two.

The soul explanation also brings up some more questions . Does it mean that there are a finite number of souls? Can a soul be copied for reincarnation to make up for a limit (Besides the cloning thing)? Is the soul of everyone always a reused soul, or are new souls created? Do souls eventually stop being used? Will these questions be answered in the remaining chapters? Probably not.

Also, if they can tell how someone will be reborn, then couldn't they know how the information they sent to Earth be used? Though I suppose it could be either they didn't care or it's like that whole "master of fate and tool of fate" thing in Dune.

As for how they get back, I suppose someone on Earth could use one of those alien transports to get to them, or there might be some small craft on that ship or station they can use to get off. The big problem for the first solution is how does anyone know to come rescue them?

Can't believe no one has posted about 2.0's soul. I'm assuming he has a different divergence of soul that's slightly different than 1.0... but who knows. They just keep adding more questions to the confusing plot.

I think this is called Greed. Remember how Gantz started off, lots of pages per chapter. Slowly less pages per chapter until less than 10? Means he can spread it out and make more money. Well, the author could be doing it or his publishers to get more money.

It's pretty common for popular manga to shorten chapter length to increase profits when it becomes pretty popular.

I too found the reincarnation/soul concept interesting.

With the death of Kurono-clone I kind of feel like Gantz is reaching some kind of conclusion. Although, spending a ridiculous amount of pages on Katou crying was kind of lame, but oh well, it's been a while since that occurred...

So, humans are worthless but they get reincarnated?

FUCK THAT!

Couldn't you keep it simple and say that once they die, they cease to exist?

That is the most logical conclusion if you're going to spout off a bunch of philosophical bullshit at us.

Not this 21 grams nonsense!

Actually, he never said anything about "soul", he said "data" instead. So, like any data it can be duplicated any number of times, created and deleted. I think that was the implications here.
People is not important, they are just a data in an organic shell...

Interesting, I did not know that. Read a bit more about it on snopes. I find the idea of something as immaterial as the soul having physical weight a bit ridiculous, but still it's an interesting topic that doesn't seem to have had further study judging by a 60 second google search.

I don't know when they're released but I do know they're released very sporadically, and it can go months between each release. So consider yourself lucky you came this far without the torturous wait. The manga is much more enjoyable read in batches, rather than chapter by chapter. Though I guess this can be said for almost all manga really.

Slim fast in a moment! Ahahahaha! ... retarded chapter

This manga failed before, but now it fails beyond any limit and not because of the soul thing. It was expect for there to be some weird plot ending since sebastian started throwing in some philosophical crap about a simulated reality.

The way it's present just ruins it!
I would have been much more happier if this god here was just some kind of super Nuri or any other super overpowered boss which they would defeat eventually.

Finally caught up!!
So I kinda brushed off the 21 grams theory when he turned it into the whole reincarnation deal. Then I got a little curious and looked it up, all the while feeling stupid for looking up something from a manga. Now when massive results came up...chills were sent down my spine. Never has any anime/manga mind-fucked me like Gantz just has.

As for Kei 2.0, something just never sat right with me since there were 2 keis, I've been waiting for him to be killed off ever since he was created. I personally would be very disturbed if my best friend was crying over my clone.

Anyhow 5/5 for making me think.

Hey! MR/MRS Alien god .Ya shall aswer everything right?
then I have some questions here

What the hell are u? What your fucking soul is? If human's soul is 21 grams data
And how can I fly BY MYSELF? How can I have super power in 3 second?
How can I get 1 bilion USD in 1 min?
How can I make 1 kilo of gold with SOMETHING 2$ worth?
How can I make human from nothing like u?
How can I read/ remember instantly? How can I learn everything in 1 sec.
How can I become u? How can I have your power?
How can I live FOREVER?
....?.....?.....?....
that's it for now.....
BUT most importantly:
HOW CAN I FUCKING KILL U?????

ANSWER ITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! fucking alien , dumbass mangaka who drew ittt!!!!

Actually the creator of this manga must have done his research. I did a paper on Dr. Duncan Mcdugal who is a scientist in the early 20th century. And he took the weight of 7 ppl as they died on a giant gram scale. The weight of each person as they died was 21 grams. So he told the world this was the weight of the persons soul. They soon called him crazy for testing on dogs and what not. But it was nice to see that in a manga.

i wonder what implications this has for Kurono 1.0? Is it the same soul (data?) that gets transferred into the new being?

Well at least I hope this means that no one else gets revived in the course of this manga.

Okay this is actually flawed. The idea that you will reincarnate with those around you works fine, I guess, but how the hell does that work when their are clones? Do they branch off half of one's relations to one clone and half to the other? And why did the balls stop working? They were human technology, so in theory it doesn't matter whether or not the aliens are there ... This also means it could be possible to continuously revive people ...

This, completely. Their logic is completely stupid and pointless... if they know it all so perfectly, then it doesn't explain the clones.

Also, I never get these kinds of arguments about humans being made up of "mere matter"... what's even their point? Obviously humans are made up of shit... that's simply how the universe is. But it doesn't change anything whatsoever... so there's no point in their argument. It's not like they're different... only way more technologically advanced.
