| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The story is getting better. First scene of ecchi in this one but you do not see as much as Ikkitousen but you know how THE DVD SYSTEM works so they will rebuffer this scene. Hayase finally kicks the stupid ass of these guys who bully him and gets Risa more envious. THEY FUCKED UP THE STORY! THEY REALLY SCREWED IT UP. In the manga the guy is dead and killed by LineBarrels when he was young with Risa and Yajima. This time it's when he gets struck down by LineBarrels like in the present. I think that sucks and makes the story weirder. Anyways loved the scenes with HIND Machina and the other one that I forgot. PAINKILLER was good also! Those twins sure are something apart from the manga version. I DID NOT LIKE THE SCENE OF HAYASE NAKED IN THE BATHTUB! WTF IS THAT? I AM NOT GAY NOR I ENJOY THAT CRAP! HIGHLIGHTS The first ecchi scenes THE ROBOTS OF JUSTICE SO TO SPEAK!      LineBarrels SLICING IN HALF ROBOTS!+ Who The Hell digs his own grave???   |

| This is what I wrote on FTV (www.fansub.tv): - FAILZO and Masamitsu Hidaka (the director of Pokemon and this show) are to blame for this FAILURE!! =((( :angry: I just watched episode 02 and it just had to get worst.....in the manga we never saw his mother, younger sister or the brown haired chick factor who pilots a stupidly named Machina called "Painkiller" (I don't know if this is one of the unknown Machina in the manga because we only know the names of 5 or 6 of the total 11 Machinas). <_< Also the "summoning" of LineBarrel using Breast-pathy.....is just pointless ecchi done by FAILZO. :angry: <_< :angry: Also, his death and reaction are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to the manga and also I don't know why I am watching this, I guess its because I really hope for it to return to original manga plot and its the ONLY reason for me to continue watching this series......this is worse than MOUSE. ;) |

Seeing it in the previews is really the only reason I started watching this show. As soon as this show fails to simply annoy me by its stupidity, I'll see what the manga is like. I've heard so much good from the manga but Gonzo just seems to remove all the good and replace it with things we hate and have seen before. | 4 Reasons I actually like this show. 1) Main character acts in a realistic way for a high schooler, none of this Kira Yamato overly stupid calm crap. Also in this ep, not every person would know who their allies and enemy's where. If you where in his situation would you choose a side right off the bat without knowing who the hell they where? He also shows that power can cause a person to change dramatically. Not every person, let alone high schooler, has the will power to suppress their desire to go nuts when given a tool for killing, be it for justice (what they think is right), for fun, or just for flat out killing. 2) The show makes fun of almost every mecha related series ever made. People are taking this show waaayyyy to serious. Stop over analyzing every detail and just sit back and laugh at how belatedly obvious it is that their making fun of other shows in a much more serious way. 3) The main character isn't necessarily "good". Far to many anime mecha shows have hero's that are too good. We never see what happens when a questionable character becomes the hero of the story. It's interesting to think that at any given moment he could flip out and kill everyone in his path. 4) Real life situations - Similar to my number 1 point, I find it interesting to see how the main character acts in school and around people once realizing he's dead and has power. So, I think people need to keep an open opinion about this series.....or at least not think so hard about it. |

It's realistic, but isn't fun to watch. On the "making fun of other mecha related series" part: you generally need two things to make this work. 1. be funny or at least interesting 2. make it easy to recognize that you're making fun of something The good part was the cool names for other mechas. | I"m sorry, but I have no reason to believe that this show doesn't take itself seriously. In a show like Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan, it is painfully obvious that the whole concept of mechs in anime is a joke, and they go about the whole thing tongue in cheek. Here in Kurogane, people take all this so seriously, trying to explain the difference of mechas and arma. Also, there is a way to depict a normal teenager being whiny and slightly assholeish while maintaing a sense of charisma within him to keep the viewer captivated and not so annoyed as, again, was done in Tengen with Simon. So even if Hayase is written well in the manga, and you are just defending that version of Hayase to everyone, I don't think it is ridiculous to say that this interpretation is very, very, very annoying, and lacking charisma. |

Still, the ridiculously funny plot, the inconsistent characters, the strange direction, heavy use of fanservice and the loads of clichés make it enjoyable if you take it as a parody of a mecha show, I'm quite thrilled by this series actually ;) |

| i haven't seen a bigger douche bag like koichi since makoto from school days, or renton from eureka 7. i hate the whole "failure of a person becoming a hero at the end" motif, or just plain obvious character flaws that make people cringe. i don't blame gonzo b/c they make good stuff, or the manga plot for i haven't read it to judge, but this anime has one the things i hate most about potentially good animes--protagonists that make you want wish for their immediate death for being such a damn....well you see where i'm going with this. |

Your arguments are very good, only this part is flawed. Even if you don't take a look at the manga, you can see it's not going for anything like this, they're trying to do a serious job, which they clearly cannot. There's much to criticize, they completely obliterated the original plot, specially with making Kizaki Emi play a fanservice role. The way they introduced Linebarrel screwed with a lot of things that should be happening later on; The art is horrible; The opening is by Ali Project, which many people hate because their songs are somewhat similar to each other and use very archaic and complicated japanese, but I don't have anything against them personally; The voice cast is just plain wrong(great actors chosen for the wrong roles), this one's more of a opinion, but just looking at the credits I can spot a few misfits: Mamiko Noto as Emi: before the anime aired I was happy she was going to voice someone in this series, but Emi wasn't the best choice, I was originally expecting her to voice Ishigami's secretary. Still hoping to hear more lines from her though, to see how it comes through. Sawashiro Miyuki as Satoru: this one we already heard and it came out horrible, she does the same voice she did for Kurenai. Kugimiya Rie as Izuna: He's probably coming with the voice of Rokujou Miharu, and that's bad. She'd probably do a better job as Shizuna. EDIT: Close up of the worst part of the animation:  |
