THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Everyone is adjusting after Chihaya's big moment. They're all getting ready for a concert now. Brief appearance of the Jupiter song "Koi wo Hajimeyou". No backflips. ;_;. Also, Ryuuguu Komachi isn't in their normal outfits, they're wearing the luxury outfits just like all the other girls. And there's a nice BGM arrange of relations.

Chihaya goes up on stage and sings Nemuri hime, with no music at first, but it kicks in to make the performance really cool. After the concert they go to some bar and Kotori starts singing one of her character songs, Hana. The ED is also by Kotori, Sora. For a Kotori episode, she barely showed up lol.

I really wanted more Kotori. I mean 3 minutes, really?

Episode started kind of slow, but I really enjoyed the second half. Nemurihime was cool. Btw am I the only one who noticed the huge animation jump somewhere near the middle of the episode?

There was definitely a big quality jump in the second half and even Jupiter looked all shiny and pretty.

Kotori has a beautiful voice, but not enough screentime. When Touma grabbed his producer it was a crowning moment of badass, when your idols are confrontational to you, you know you have been doing major wrongs.

I expected more conflicts between Jupiter (especially, Touma) and President Kuroi before they would give up on him. Now that Kuroi left the scene, being humiliated by Takagi, it looks like we won't even see a trace of 765 production in the rest of the season. :P

Anyway, I gotta point out Touma was actually one of my favorite side character in Idolm@ster 2 video game (despite how he was despised by most of IM@S fans before the game was released), as he turns out to be one of the nicest guys around in the game.

P.S: Oh btw, I found it quite funny how the Jupiter members joked about the Producer X (Tsundere) Touma coupling. XD

P.S2: There were so many scenes where the characters' faces were drawn without genuine effort.. I expected better from A-1 Pictures, because you don't see those kind of blunders in other shows like WORKING!! S2..

Never expect Kotori to sing in the few minutes. And what's up with the picture of Kotori and both the oldmen? Never expect those Jupiter guys to quit so early. I was expecting them to quit after battling out with the girls.

I was a bit disappointed they didn't focus on Chihaya. It would've been great to see her perform a little bit longer.

Still a good episode. Seeing Haruka blushing during Chihaya's performance and Miki saying 'honey' to the producer again added more points to it.

I thought it was just to let us know that the bartender, Kotori, 765 pro chair, 961 pro chair, and the journalist knew each other for a long time, even before the relations became rather tense. So in some ways, it be a way to symbolize that the four of them are brought together again?

By the way, did anyone like how they changed the opening slightly, from the melancholy singing Chihaya to a Chihaya that is smiling, shining brightly, with her former self jumping in the back. It really shows the contrast the former dark blue hue and the bright yellow hue.

Opening Comparison

Gotta laugh when Takane when asked "Chihaya, please let me borrow your face." with a dark shade on her face, and Chihaya responded with a sweatdrop xD.

Iori once again showed how protective she is toward her friends~ When she tries to tell off 961 chair to leave. "Hey! Why is HE here!? It's unpleasant. I'll tell him to leave!" ... Or maybe I got the leave part wrong, but either way. Go Iori!

Didn't even notice that the first time, thanks for pointing that out.

It was a pretty good followup episode, too bad we don't get to see all of Chihaya's performance. Kotori seems to have been pretty shortchanged though, even though her singing is pretty good.

Animation (especially the far-away shots of Chihaya) was rather questionable in the beginning.

According to the UTW site, Chibiki's translator is MIA, and they naturally aren't going to get much done without him. No indication of when he'll show up, and it usually takes a few more days for the other subbers to come out with theirs.

I really like this show and game. It's too bad the subbers we got are so unreliable. I mean it's been 4 days and their stupid translator is still MIA. *sigh*

Oh well, I watched the Raw version and got a good idea on what happened this episode. Looks like Jupiter quit after Touma decided he was sick of Kuroi's dirty antics. For a Kotori episode she only got 4 minutes of screentime. But still it was nice to see her and Chihaya sing on stage in this episode.

At first glance, I've thought same as you about that's picture. but after looked carefully I notice that's Kotori mole and the girl in picture's on different position on their face.
I think maybe she's Kotori mother or sister?!?

FINALLY, ITS OUT!!!
After a PERFECT episode last week, i think this episode delievered just as much!! That Boss-dude from jupiter really does get on my nerves, but good those guys left him. (But at the end of the episode, my anger did calm down a bit..)
As for chihiya... Man, she's just EPIC!!! Being that brave, and good for that guy to put the music/sounds back on, because it was just sensational. Chihiya has certainly become one of my FAV characters, and i believe she just has the best singing voice!!
And at the bar scene, i was pretty schocked, as to seeing Kotori there, singing. But what suprised me more, was that her friendship went back in the days, with the journalist, ( i think) the bartender, 765 pro and Jupiter President's.
I never thought Kotori was 'old' :/

Chiyaha had her well deserved comeback may it be with or without music! She sounded really good a capella.

Jupiter finally stood up against Kuroi. I hope most of Kuroi's shenanigans will be over now. Jupiter's going to start from scratch and I wonder if we'll be seeing them again.

Looks like all the directors and Kotori know each other for a while now. Who knew Kotori could sing so well too!

The idea of Jupiter "starting from scratch" seems a bit much. Sure they left their label, but they made it sound like three already popular/talented/established guys would have trouble finding work.

Honestly I was expecting Touma to punch Kuroi, but it's great to see that Jupiter already left 961 without thinking it twice, let's see if in the last 4 episodes we will see a little of their new stage as independent idols.

Nice to see all the girls as a single group instead of Ryuugu Komachi and the rest, too bad we couldn't see them all singing together.

It was surprising to see Kotori singing at the restaurant, though I expected more from an episode of her, she seems to hide more secrets about herself than Takane.

In the games the trio were called Project Fairy, which was introduced in THE iDOLM@STER SP and produced by 961 PRO. In THE iDOLM@STER 2, I think they just became part of 765 PRO.

Here we go. I was on the wrong ep discussion before.
Man that was a great episode.

Everyone pulling together, Chihaya finally gets her big break, Jupiter stands up to the old man, and we even get to see Kotori sing.
(BTW: i had Nemuri Hime stuck in my head all week)
Anyone else think this would have made a decent last episode? It had that kind of vibe to it, or end the show on Christmas possibly..

I've never regreted my girlfriend recommending me this show.
I go by many names, some call me Hoshimaru, others call me Jiro or Aosou-Kun.

Thanks. So was it more of just a reference to that game? Like how other idols made cameos in episode 10?

Also, one more question. They say 765 Pro like "nanako puro" or something. How does that work? Like why isn't it "nana roku go" or something? Just wondering XD

Pronunciation of 765 is based on one reading of the kanji 七六五. Unabbreviated, it would read "nana-mu-go". What's not obvious is that the abbreviated and slightly altered version "na-mu-ko" is a pun of Namco, which is the producer of the Idolmaster games.

One way to read 961, whose kanji is 九六一, is "ku-roku-ichi". This is abbreviated as well to "ku-ro-i", as a testament to President Kuroi's infatuation with himself.

yup. I wish Project Fairy becomes a reality in the show, though. But the possibility is small. :(

It's not really a reference. THE iDOLM@STER 2 is a reboot of the original game, as if the events of the original game never happened, so Project Fairy never existed according to the second game. This is why you see a lot of "2nd Vision" labels on the newer iDOLM@STER material.

Another great song from Chihaya, the transition from singing without music to the chorus with the music added in was really emotional. In a way, it truly signifies that she has gotten over her trauma and is shining brighter than ever.

You can't deny that Chihaya (or her seiyuu) has one of the best singing voices ever..

And nice to see Jupiter quitting 961, but I would have liked it if they would have announced their quit and the bad things Kuroi did on stage with many listeners or on live TV including an apology for 765 so that Kuroi would have made a really, really big negative impact in the whole industry. :P
