@Namoonriver I don't know how popular it was in Japan when it aired, but it looks like they're trying to revive it as a franchise now. |

@RobertBobert - It was very popular in Japan and continues to have a dedicated fanbase! I'm happy to see they're revisiting it and hope they'll give us some more content for the time period between the two seasons. It probably took this long because it wasn't very famous and came from a pretty small studio. @Namoonriver (and anyone else on the same train): I typically avoid comment sections for this anime because it's my favorite and I know most people hated it, but since it seems the series might get picked up again, I feel like I should rep Karice's series of articles (links below). I liked both seasons already but their articles really helped bridge the gap and explain a lot of the reasons that the show was so well-liked in Japan but so hated in the west (translation issues, bad/missing promotional materials that were integral to set the tone for the series, etc.), and also explained a lot of the underlying philosophy that informs the series' storyline. If you liked the show at all I urge you to give them a look and consider giving the show a second chance! It's not perfect by any means, but I think it deserves better than the western fandom has been treating it. :< It finally clicks - specifically relating to s01e12, leading into season 2 The main problem with Aldnoah.Zero - about translation errors Aldnoah.Zero through an international relations lens - key points for the storyline, and talking about the missing promotional materials in the west |

@ComposerLOST Apparently it's not popular enough if it became deader than disco after the second season finale. Well, let's see how they are going to change this. |

Lol this does look like a way to build a continuing franchise depending on the movie reception and the follow-up BD release the eventual month. Since Aldnoah 2 ended, Aoki has been making originals with various interesting writers, will be such a shame to see him stay involved in just one thing. The new episode is titled "24.5", so it's not changing anything of the original just doubling down on the original direction the story progressed and the aftermath. |

@ComposerLOST Well, if it really improves the franchise, then I'm all for it. Especially if a positive example of this opens the way to other "fixes" for previously tainted franchises. |

@RobertBobert He is listed as a supervisor on a new thing "Special Kid Factory" with the same writer as Id Invaded, and it seems like the concept of this thing was originally thought back in the mid 2000s by the writer, so I wonder if you heard something about Id Invaded in the same way. https://x.com/AkutagawaKakuzo/status/1705775036769210578 https://x.com/AkutagawaKakuzo/status/1705775043962392936 |

@RobertBobert feel the gacha game hidding in the shadow. Was a good anime i liked it but never seen it as a potential franchise as the story already covered everything we needed to know about the world and even got a final. Making it as a franchise seem like a bad idea as they are risking to kill a nice anime. |

@tokomata people like me, i remembered it 10 years after first watch. For some reason. There's other anime I've completely forgot about, but distinctly remember about A/Z. Maybe it's just godly soundtrack that grabbed me, the power of Sawano Drop, so to say. |

@RobertBobert You being here posting about it after our last discussion but alright I can ignore that and I can respect you disliking it. So to not harm your own sanity it's for better if you dont pin your hope nor get invested in A/Z. This anime is for mecha autist not ppl as you really, it wasnt dead it waited after Armored Core 6(AC6) release that's how mecha works so play AC6 if you intent to understand and stay in mecha. Or else better leave. @ComposerLOST you are absolutely right! I was on japanese trailers and shorts, theres literally 0 negative comments about AZ the worst they felt was little bad about ending but saying it was irrelevant. This is why anime should only be for japanese market first as they know better. Japan definitely waited until AC6 released. @tokomata me I watched it when I was 13-14, in first place most ppl that watched it were kids too so who tf is 30+ year dude ? Japanese adults liked AZ/okay with sequel so why would western adults start puberty A/Z hate bandwagon that we kids did in anime like A/Z? |

@otvalsky just like me exactly ! The mecha franchise was always dead outside japan like you can see Original 80s gundam is dead while in japan still popular. Unfortunately west here doesn't like mecha as ppl like me are in minority. Even in mecha they want slice of life or romance like in thread here, appreciation for mecha is low outside japan. |

@Destined321 I don't think trying to assume that I don't know or like a genre just because I have a different opinion about a show in that genre than you obviously doesn't make this debate any better. @RobertBobert you may not like the assumptions but I didn't assume or say you don't like genre or mecha. I said you shouldnt hurt your own sanity and hurt sanity of fans here liking AZ, as you will be negative towards this series. You personally don't like it better leave it, it will just increase hate for AZ and annoy ppl that personally like it. @Namoonriver (and anyone else on the same train):
I typically avoid comment sections for this anime because it's my favorite and I know most people hated it, but since it seems the series might get picked up again, I feel like I should rep Karice's series of articles (links below). :<
It finally clicks - specifically relating to s01e12, leading into season 2
The main problem with Aldnoah.Zero - about translation errors
Aldnoah.Zero through an international relations lens - key points for the storyline, and talking about the missing promotional materials in the west

@Crownowa Just read the first link and the last paragraph blew me away: I found out recently that there’s a slight mistranslation in the English version of what Clausewitz wrote in German. The sentence is actually “War is the continuation of politics with other means.” The word ‘with’ conveys much more clearly how war is just another tool in the political toolkit, rather than a red line that leaders would not want to cross. For what it’s worth, the line of dialogue that they gave Inaho in Japanese actually does convey that. I can't believe such an important book in the canon of Western political literature has been mistranslated like this for almost 200 years. |

@RobertBobert that's not the problem, the problem is this show was mecha p*rn for ppl that care less about character relations more about the designs, cool movement, normally leaning little L-R sideways epic poses etc it's long list. Most importantly it's math-physics science using show, so you or if not you majority of ppl didn't get how insanely hard the mc turned the tide of war.
