| Koshitan may be the student council president, but one of its 3 members are suspicious of her activities in the Deer Club, wanting to take the club down. 3rd year vice-president Neko Nekoyamada is quite the shortie who wants to expose the Primadonna for her acts, though she always needs her handy stepstool to reach high places. 2nd year secretary Kinu Tanukikouji...is quite the social anxiety girl who worries about even the smallest mistakes, and as for 2nd year treasurer Chiharu Tsubameya, she's thankfully sane than the rest of the quirky members being invited by Kinu, through it's quite awkward between Koshitan and the trio since she will be working with them for the year. And after doing the handouts for the new students, the trio can breathe a sigh of relief after a day's work...but Neko forgot her job to interrogate Koshitan and the Deer Club. Not to worry, this is just the start! Chiharu being part of the Deer Club surprises Koshitan, though it doesn't take long for both Anko and Bashame to entice her. Though that's not enough to fool Chiharu that the club exists in its idiocy, even using last episode's dance as a way to prove herself. Nokotan literally dumping deer crackers on her as a form of hospitality, and taking grass out of her head interests the aloof girl, so much so that Koshitan becomes jealous of Nokotan, that an hour passes by, and her reputation lucked out. Turns out...Chiharu is a HUGE Nokotan stan, though Koshitan took this the wrong way lols. Koshitan literally karma-ing herself by being locked up in the storage shed with Kinu, it's not looking good, and the latter literally penning her will as if she knows she's gonna die, what a wild girl of imaginations running wild. And with Nokotan passing by singing her own song about deer crackers to completely ignore Koshitan, much less Kinu reflecting her own sins and sharing her life's crimes with said president, and Nokotan coming to the storage shed...to get the mushrooms she's growing at the vaulting box. All's well that ends well...with mushroom-flavoured rice, leaving Neko behind lols. How unhinged is the character cast of this show? Everyone's slowly becoming indoctrinated to the deer... |

It seems that will be a disclaimer for every episode, which is weirdly interesting. Like, is the brainrot that degenerate that we have to specify that this is a work of fiction? Beats me, honestly. Anyway, here are the eye catches for this week's episode:
Ahh, an introduction of the student council members as they prepare for the incoming first years. Nekoyamada-san, the classic character who seems to have a self-contained rivalry with the main character just because Koshitan gets more recognition for being herself. And of course, she has to be exceptionally short that she has to carry around a step stool: her character just reminds me of another Miko Iino, interestingly. Tanukikoji-san acts so purely yet judges herself very harshly at the slightest indication of a mistake–as expected of someone with social anxiety, but can someone please give her a hug? Finally, Tsubameya-san as the most normal character we've seen so far, aside from her death glare eyes. *cricket noises* What an interesting bunch they are. And so the シカ部 grows in membership starting with the second part of this episode. First there's Tsubeyama-san, and being Koshitan, here she is trying to welcome one of her student council helpers without making it weird while this is not the forte of the other three. Case in point is one of the scenes that was shown in one of the PVs, Nokotan pulling out some blades of grass or weeds out of her head. But as we've seen before, Nokotan has the ability to charm pretty much everyone for being the air-headed character that she is when Koshitan fails in upholding her "perfect girl" persona; Tsubameya-san is definitely not immune to that. Next is Tanukikoji-san as she is thrown in the unfortunate situation of being locked in the sports equipment shed with Koshitan. Thankfully, they were able to escape and enjoy mushrooms with rice in the club room, even though they initialy struggled to grab Nokotan's attention as we got another シカ煎餅 song stylized like a karaoke video accompaniment. All that's left now is Nekoyamada-san... I close out my commentary for this episode by leaving you with these frames, and honestly, I can see someone making a meme template from them:

| Nice to see the opening and ending theme translated, i was honestly really curious these past few episodes to what the lyrics meant. Intro was surprisingly quite cute, the outro however made me more confused tbh. Nokotan going a casual 2:0 on the student president Koshitan in terms of recruiting members, unless Tanukikouji joins then i think it would be more like 2:1. Eh close enough, welcome back Ichigo from Darling in the Franxx! But yeah, Tsubameya's appearance looked so similar to Ichigo from DitF that i had to double check i wasn't tweaking again from still coping these past years for any crumbs of more DitF content. |

| Hmm another nice episode. Great humour and 4th wall breaks. :) Tanuki san is way too negative but she will be alright with our nokotan humour. Not only Tsubamiya san, we all are Nokotan fan too. Poor Neko san, she will soon join the group, I hope. |

| Another great episode. Good contrast between Tanuki being too straightforward and Tsubame being completely missunderstood. Then Neko Neko is somehow both! Truly a chaotic student council room. The musical number was so beautiful and poetic, Hikaru Utada could have written it. If anything, this episode needed more Shikanoko. Feel free to keep flinging Anko out the window though! |

| I know Nekoyamada is a reference to "cat" and Tanukikoji is based on "tanuki", what about Tsubameya? Since the deer theme song played with her intro, I thought she'd be a secret deer or something... |
| I'm seriously debating if i should keep watching this cuz ep 4 is clearly just... boring. Literally makes me yawn and want to fast forward watching these not-very-funny and pointless SoL. I was expecting some crazy chaotic comedy like Asobi Asobase or Daily Lives of High School Boys but end up getting a slug slice of life with no plot and very dry one-note comedy. PS: I just rewatched one episode of Asobi Asobase to confirm my feeling. Yeah Aosbi is WAYYY funnier than Deer-kun. |

| Yaknow, I really haven't been enjoying this anime all that much. I found it pretty unfunny, and with the exception of the dance scene from last episode, I was losing hope. Sure I found the Bully Maguire dance hilarious, but that had to be a one time fluke, right? Right? Wrong! I...I have to say, I actually enjoyed this episode a lot. It was funny, I was laughing throughout the entire episode! The student council is awesome, and all of the jokes this episode actually landed. It's good! I didn't think that they could top last episode and that the anime was going to slide back to being unfunny again but...no! I actually had fun! |
