After so long, we finally have a VTuber anime on our hands. Is it realistic though, is the question.

LiveOn is one of the top VTuber management companies in the country. Among its third-generation talents is Awayuki Kokorone/Yuki Tanaka, who has been struggling to stand out amidst the countless other VTubers. One day, after ending her usual stream, Awayuki forgets to turn off the broadcast, as she starts to get piss drunk while screaming her love of beer. The next day, after exposing a completely uncharacteristic side of herself to the world, her manager, reveals a shocking truth to Awayuki. Everyone at LiveOn had been waiting for her to let loose all along, and now they are giving her free rein to drink on-stream.

You know, I wouldn't doubt that VTuber's get piss drunk after streams, because no way they keep up that innocent persona for a long ass stream and don't feel like popping out a cold one. But already off the bat, this so unrealistic. We all know damn well that VTuber's don't cosplay as their avtar. At most they may come out with their PJs on and call it a day. Also, what a shit manager this girl has. As a manager, your not supposed to tell them that they were still streaming the next day, YOUR SUPPOSED TO TELL THE SECOND SHE STARTS GETTING DRUNK.

Even though I'm not that big of a VTuber fan, this seems like dumb fun. Count me in!

Novelist Nana Nanato's sole work about the world of VTubers, this show is just as ever relevant in today's society.

OST is nothing impressive, but it is what it is.

If anything, this show is last season's Kenka Dokugaku, if you add in the VTuber nature of work, and that is the gorgeous, polite Awayuki Kokorone in a nutshell being a VTuber obsessive nut, cracking a few crude jokes here and there as she drowns in alcohol and her wish fulfillment of watching feelow VTubers in her own spare time. The worst part is that this stream of hers, went viral overnight because it wasn't turned off, and she gets a call from her manager Suzuki the next morning, informing her that the stream is still in session.

Even though this is the life of 20-year-old former wage slave Yuki Tanaka, everything is actually fine...and not so fine given the relentless streams of comments coming in to make her trend overnight. And a call from a fellow Live-On VTuber of Hikari Matsuriya, she now knows her shtick and wants to collab with her. Taking time out since her debut 3 months ago, she was once worried on her channel's growth and is living from paycheck to paycheck, but it seems as if her freedom is what connects her to her audience very well, along with the alcohol. And two of the biggest VTubers she admires, Sei Utsuki and Shion Kaminari, connects with her for future collabs.

I did not expect TNK to come back from the dead after close to 2 years and produce this show, it's quite unlike their repertoire over the past few years. I can tell that this show would be one of the most entertaining shows of the season, being crude, but shameless as heck that it's still enjoyable.

this show would have been so, so good 4 years ago, but at this point weve seen everything "yabai" a vtuber could do (tbf i think the LN is probably from around that time)

instant drop

plus, something sits really poorly with me when a vtuber is the same as her avatar, at that point, she's just a youtuber

I know absolutely nothing about Vtubers in real life (not my interest whatsoever) but is it normal for people to be wearing the outfits while doing their streams? Why is everyone cosplaying when the outfits could just be programmed or am I missing something here lol. It wasn't like that with the Jellyfish anime and the avatar there so why here.

While the Vtuber industry and idea for this show is something I don't care for, was nice seeing alcoholism work well with the job here and basically creating a whole new unfiltered character and persona that fans seem to really enjoy with all the buzz. I will say, the idea in my head of seeing someone drunk and streaming sounds way more fun than something being very timid and angelic, which is very boring. Even if the drunk nature can cause a massive risk of careers ending with words, actions and thoughts not being under control. The idea of the main girl being drunk sounds dope but I don't know if this is a concept that I would care for with the entire show since the other V-tuber elements about it, don't care for whatsoever.

That was very entertaining! parody and references all. Awayuki is yabai Vtuber personified.

People not familiar with Vtuber culture might lost on this series.

Initially wanted to skip out on this one as I don't give a flying fig about Vtuber. There's already enough degeneracy in my life.

But maybe it was a good decision to not judge an anime by it's title. This feels a bit like a mix between Umaru and Recovery of an MMO Junkie.

I could not stop laughing. This show is hilarious! I love how the characters are not shown as their IRL selves and the show is just based around their Vtuber model. It's unique and I am in for it!

Overall it was a good first episode.

I would have preferred if they show the real person behind the avatar, to showcase that they are humans...
And I hate the censoring.

But otherwise, overall a fun first episode.

She's not cosplaying. That's her. Vtubers don't have a "real body", what we see is what they are. They stream to us from the 2D world

...that's the very obvious joke that the show is making here

What i want to know is why are the subs censored and why are the words bleeped? Where is the uncensored version?

@IzanaSolos and @animejas So, that took me out of it too but then later on when we see her swinging, something caught my eye that made it make sense. And there was other imagery that also pointed towards this throughout the show too. Look at her shadow while she's on the swing, its boxes, rather, its pixels! I think her world is entirely digital which explains some stuff. It could also be what others have said that we are just seeing her 3D model instead of what she looks like as either a joke or to give the illusion that its her, but then I have to wonder why her world has things like her shadow having pixels irl if thats the case. We also see the rl people being like cut out card board people while she's in town irl which is another hint towards this. There was also that MEGA WEIRD and out there part where she signed off but left her stream on and then something happened with her model, planets and stars and other weird stuff going on so maybe theres a bit of an explanation for this and back story later to be revealed, otherwise, what was WITH that weird scene? o.O

So as a major fan of hololive and 99% of the members and a few vtubers from outside hololive I can say I already have heavy bias towards this show. It would have been cool if they gave Awayuki and everyone else irl versions too but I guess in a way it keeps up the illusion for us watchers too.

I feel like this show will be lost on non Vtuber fans who may not like this or understand certain things or terms. But its a gem for us vtuber watchers. This is already one of my favourites this season

I found that Awayuki has a cover on YouTube of stellar steller by Sui-chan so that's already making this show indirectly goated.

I feel like Awayuki is essentially Houshou Marine if she came to stream pissed.

@felixsifuri I believe the idea is that us as viewers will also only see her as her vtuber self protecting her real identity. She's not actually wearing that irl but they use that as an illusion so her real identity wouldn't come out to us viewers which in a way keeps the immersion for is.

Where there's comedy, there's us! It may seem like a simple joke but in fact being trapped in society's standards is complicated. Because by wanting to please people you forget to please yourself!

I’m by no means a vtuber fan, but this anime might make me one! This first episode was so good, I love the variety of shows this season, there’s something for everyone!

This first episode was irreverent, dirty and downright hilarious. It’s simple yet effective comedy that landed with me. Awayuki is cute as hell and her unfiltered language is exactly what I like. If we’re gonna be seeing her react to funny stuff and be over the top on a weekly basis, sign me up. The strozero gag is great too. The idea of her just sitting in her room getting drunk and talking shit is awesome. I’m a big fan of direct women and she’s just that.

“I’m gooning to your stream” 😭 no way gooning directly mentioned in anime holy shit. She’s just like me! Of course as soon as she starts just being herself and saying any and everything that comes to mind, the subs come. People want authenticity and relatability and she’s got that. It’s actually pretty meta that’s why I’m liking the show so far and that’s why her in universe persona is growing too. Sometimes it’s just nice to have someone who feels the same way as you!

Pretty funny that as her channel starts blowing up other vtubers wanna be closer now.. watch out for the snakes Awayuki!

Loved this first episode and can’t wait for more! Sundays are stacked!

Absurd humor that makes me laugh. Although I didn’t think the “foul-mouthed” thing would be taken so seriously, it doesn’t surprise me because I have friends and colleagues who talk like that or worse.

I didn’t expect much from this anime, but it surprised me. I liked the opening and ending themes quite a lot. I think one of the funniest aspects will be the chat responses with Awayuki. It's strange and interesting that we never see Awayuki’s true appearance, and even when she goes shopping, we only see her with her avatar.

P.S. In case you’re wondering, that sausage game does exist—you can find it under "Sausage Legends." I didn’t expect them to show that in an anime.
