Man, this episode was fire. It just goes to show that their world can be very dangerous in the wilderness. If Noto wasn't there, this might of turned even worse.

I do think a big takeaway is how far Noto goes to fight for Eise. She was really being targeted this episode.

At long last, after nine long episodes, we actually meet the Yesma hunters.

After Pig became aware that Blaise's body was already in a terrible state. For her sake, they needed to reach the capital as quickly as possible. However, in the midst of their haste, the dreaded Yesma hunters finally appeared. Outnumbered and facing an entirely unfavorable situation, they had to brainstorm and find a way to overcome this adversity no matter what.

Oh damn, it's that guy from a couple of episodes ago. I'm really glad he got arrested; he deserved it after what he tried to do to Jess. The one thing I missed during the break this week? That catchy OP. "It's my emergency ration," lol, Notos is something else. These Yesma hunters are like ninja-level sneaky. Poor Blaise has been through enough, and now dealing with these annoying pricks. They act like they're all that, only to get outsmarted by a pig. Dumbasses. Notos really gave his all in this episode, all for Blaise. I've got to hand it to him; he's earned my respect. Sadly, it feels like it was all in vain. But hey, at least Blaise is finally at peace. She doesn't have to endure any more pain. Here's hoping she got her wish and made it to the Pig's world.

'Live and Go Set Your Feet on that Ground.." what an episode.

We're finally upping the stakes, gearing up for a big finale in the upcoming weeks, and throwing in a new key visual to go along with it.

Maybe they spend the budget too much on Jess character and her super detailed pantsu, also Blaise big booba
ngl the women is very good and detailed

anyway RIP Blaise hope you reincarnated into Kirito world, what a top tier voice acting by the goat Noto Mamiko

yeah, this episode was both tragic in content and quality of work. it looked bad, just really really REALLY bad... this show had tons of moments where it was just beautiful and well done... but suddenly in episode 9 the quality took a nosedive. :( the fight choreography was terrible, the blocking and facing and timing and movements of the characters was terrible, the art quality during the fights was terrible, the fire effects were meh, the air effects were meh, the single water effect was very nice! and worked quite well! that felled tree was pitiful after it landed and settled, splitting the tree open afterwards was worse than terrible...

if i was the director for this episode? i woulda told my boss, 'sorry man. it just sucks. a week's delay won't be enough to fix this, we're gonna need upwards of THREE weeks to do it.' and if this episode is indicative of the work to come? this whole SHOW should have been delayed another SEASON. :(

this episode was just sad in so many ways... :(

Project No.9’s production struggles on full display in this one. In contrast with a largely solid Hikikomari episode, this one was just not good at all from a production standpoint. The animation during the fight scenes was comically bad. I mean when Blaise got stabbed it legit looked like she teleported onto the knife and then when she falls, it’s like a PowerPoint slide.

The rapey slave trader and Notos fight was really choppy and looked like frames were missing too. Project No.9 seem to do a good job with character models(except ojou to banken kun) but they struggle when it comes to actual animation.

As for the episode itself, definitely an emotional roller coaster. As usual in fantasy settings you have to have a rapey slave trader villain who sees women as his personal playthings. Dude ripping Blaise’s robe made me so angry. His pity about her being gutted wasn’t directed towards her, but just upset that he couldn’t benefit from her. Scumbag. Hearing about what Notos’ Yethma companion went through in her final days was tuff as well. They all deserve so much better.

In the end, Blaise did get what she wanted. Having been gutted, she was pretty much at deaths door already. Still hurts since she was such a kind soul and deserved better

In the end, we lost another again, Brace. I really can't believe why she was killed so easily. Oh yeah, she's already desperate, huh ..

As an LN reader I am very pissed about this episode. Not only the quality of the animation but how they changed and butchered the story. The ridiculous thing is, this scene isn't supposed to be an action sequence (this episode only adapted 11 pages which are more dialogues than action). I have absolutely no clue why they would change it to an action-focused scene like this, and only to screw it up big time...

Also, they have been very faithful in adapting the LN in the past 8 episodes. It's really weird they would completely change the story progression like this in this episode. Did they want to add some cool action and fighting to make it more appealing? Looks like it backfired in the most terrible way.... /sigh

That sucks the animation was bad and a few things felt off about the setup of the scene but an otherwise fairly good episode.

Damn i thought Blaise actually stood a chance but she didnt even survive more than an ep after it being revealed she had organs removed. RIP :'(

@KiliianSleipnir i'm agreement, it's look like they just focusing to story then when i watching really needed using my imagination experience to handle this fight animation 😂
But i hope they can fixing one episode with fighting animation, atleast just one episodes is enough.

Man the animation really took a nosedive in this episode. Really sad too because the storyboarding and direction seemed pretty decent. I still enjoyed it because of the emotional aspects and was actually impressed that the story is good enough that it could just barely get away with being passable despite how terrible most of it looked.

@Kinofhera This is actually really good to know. Did they change the dialogues/interactions much or is it mostly the same but with a fight added? I'm watching for the story and writing in general as I think most of us have been, so I'm not sure why they'd change it now either especially with the production issues. Guess we'll have to wait and see how/if they can recover after this.

They changed a bit the sequence of events which I think made the flow and pacing worse. Here is how it goes in the LN:

When that black-clothed ninja guy appeared, he threw several kunai towards Jess which Naut failed to dodge them. Blaise stepped up and protected Jess but was hit by those kunai and died almost instantly.

After Blaise died, while Jess and Mr Pig are mourning for her, Naut and the Yesma hunters had a confrontation scene about their past event, and this was when Mr Pig felled the tree to distract and block the Yesma hunters.

After the tree was felled, Naut held up and fought with the hunters while telling Jess and Mr Pig to flee, which they did. Then we have a short (and only) action sequence and we see Naut kill two of the hunters. It was melee attack with his daggers though, not burning them like cremation for fxxk's sake......

Blaise's death was way more dramatic, more plot relevant, and sad. And you can see there is only a short action scene with Naut killing the two hunters, with everything before just all dialogues. It was so smooth, concise, and to the point in the LN......

I mean..... why suddenly the man that stabbed blaise come there? Why those other two man with horse (with crossbow) suddenly out of fight? I think they didnt die in the first place. Etc etc.

Either way, i dont really care about those technical stuff beside storyline. They become interesting.

@Collins89 This whole (uterus/internal organ) thing will not be fully explained until volume 2 and 3 of the LN (not covered in the anime). You can check my reply below for some spoilers on that. Be warned, the answer might be more disturbing than you expected.

The mild spoiler should be enough to answer your question. If you want the full spoiler, it will also spoil something in ep 11 or 12 of the anime and it's a gigantic plot twist. Proceed with care. :)

Dude, no offense, but i'm not surprised that you didn't notice how bad the animation was when you didn't even notice the two men with crossbows being killed. Sure they didn't show they being killed, but they showed them screaming and their bodies on the ground and i think that's enough for most people to notice.

For the last couple of episodes, we were shown how dark this anime really are, and Episode 9 choose to slap you with reality once more.

Plot tensions are rising, and then….. BAM
The animation decided to took a nosedive into an oblivion.

I swear they need to just delay this Anime for at least couple of months. The quality is insanely bad.
The Studio is just kicking themselves at this point by releasing this.

I hope the last couple episodes would be good, and when they do release the blu-ray, i really hope ep 9 is getting the fix it deserves.

Also, Why you gotta do blaise like that bruh 😭

Depressing yet expected of this episode.
Aside from the unfortunate events of this episode, this might be one of the worst animated episodes I've seen in anime. I am aware this episode 9 was delayed due to production quality issues, and now I wonder what its initial state was. I assume it was improved to meet quality standards, but seeing it bad as it is now, I wonder how it looked like before it was 'improved'.

Something went very wrong in this episode. Not just the animation but the whole direction I think. There are too many full shots with lots of characters. More close-ups would make the fight more dynamic. The short battle in episode 3 looked much better. This episode looks like it was made by a completely different studio.

Naut's past catches up to him, and Blaise exercises her role as a decoy for Jess as she intended. Once the hunters discovered she already had her uterus removed, there'd be nothing to them to take.
If the capital isn't just a fake for hunters to lurk around waiting for Yethma, I think it may be a Rista factory? And Yethma who are of age have their magic harvested for it there.
