How many fantasy "picking up abandoned baby" series we have this season?

A-Real, now that's a 3rd rate studio that I have not heard in a long time.

The witch Alyssa finding the abandoned human baby Viola, which she grew larger than her after 16 years. But she's already demanding things like a child, which she wants to get a phoenix summoning stone. Everyone is captured by Viola's beauty, except that Viola thinks of Alyssa more than ever. And that Phoenix...is nothing more than a simpleton bird lols. Alyssa's childhood friends of Giriko and Luna are quite the playful aunties...er, sisters. Of course, going back in time when Alyssa found Viola, it was hard work to get to where they were now.

Viola wanting a familiar, that's why she into summoning, though the Phoenix comes every so often as a comedy gag. The selection for one that will never earn Alyssa's love, that's quite the aptitude. But for Alyssa to not have one, it's tough work already since having Viola as a big responsibility, so the need is not as apparent. So then, Viola decided to raise a plant seedling, but the Phoenix is easily the most hilarious familiar for being casted on the wayside.

Interesting show, though no different from its contemporaries.

My Fall season has now officially started with this show.

Decent first episode. Lots of crazy humor. I like the chemistry between Viola and Alyssa.

Man this premiere had me dying on laughter.

In a secluded dwelling nestled deep within the forest, Alyssa, a solitary witch, encounters an unexpected revelation one fateful day—a human infant. Overcoming her initial astonishment, Alyssa christens the child Viola and wholeheartedly dedicates herself to her upbringing. As the years pass, an extraordinary transformation unfolds. Viola not only evolves into a devoted daughter, but also matures into a woman of captivating beauty and extraordinary stature. This curious twist of fate adds a humorous dimension, as observers mistakenly identify Viola as Alyssa's elder. This marks the inception of a delightful journey, narrated through the lives of a mother and daughter whose appearances playfully defy convention. Their everyday routines are infused with charming capers, promising an abundance of joy and laughter. Together, this unorthodox parent-child pair presents a rib-tickling comedy that is sure to leave you in fits of mirth.

The comedic timing and wit in this anime are truly exceptional. I found myself in fits of laughter when that comically awkward Phoenix made its appearance, and the moment the golem started shedding tears, I couldn't contain my amusement. It's not an exaggeration to say that this anime has really won me over. The addition of the Phoenix character has elevated it to a whole new level. Initially, I had reservations about the unconventional art style, but now I see that it perfectly complements the dialogue, which is nothing short of brilliant. This combination of humor and unique character dynamics has firmly established this anime as a favorite of mine.

All in All, this is shaping up to be the comedy of the season, and I'm here for it

More comedy than i expected but not in a bad was, the characters are funny and so for it's nice seeing the mother daughter relationship.
The Phoenix was a bit disturbing tho.
The obaa san joke was also a bit obvious but that one i can live with.

Quite early in the season, my most-anticipated non-sequel was only the second new show I got to watch. And it's the second one with an abandoned baby in the woods!

But it was defenetly the better one. Dekoboko Majo will probably take the spot of that one light-hearted, cute and insanely hillarious comedy last season was so sorely lacking.

For the premiere, it has everything it needs to have: A sweet mother-daugther relationship, a hillariously dense protagonist and the resulting misunderstandings and catastrophies and a good supporting cast. And Fanservice. Well, personally I couldn't care less about it, but it doesn't hurt the quality and might get this show a bit more popularity.

If the quality stays the same, this might very well earn itself a spot among Kawaisugi Crisis, Uramichi Onii-San and my other beloved comedy shows. Because for now, it met my high expectations!

Wow…that was complete trash. I was expecting some wholesome mother-daughter anime that creatively addresses that fantastical circumstances of a slow-aging mother and a normal human daughter (something in the style of Frieren), but instead it’s just a terribly executed and unfunny gag anime. I couldn’t even make it much further than the halfway mark.

Pretty average so far tbh. Comedy was so-so I guess. Viola's design is overdone imo, she looks a bit creepy. Phoenix was probably the best character.

Fun enough concept, and good enough first episode. Been a hot minute since I last watched a 4-koma adaptation, so the pacing took a bit for me to get used to. Also, Viola saying "mama" is just so damn cute! 4/5

Yeah not a fan of this one. Viola is just too weird as a character. She looks far older than 16 yet behaves far younger. Somehow it's so much weirder this way than having a character look young but act mature. Alyssa's voice acting is great and the phoenix is funny but it's not enough to keep me watching.

Now that is a milf, oh wait. It's the 16-year old daughter. Hmm, she throws a tantrum though, similar to a 7 year old who doesn't get candy in the beginning.
What a weird show. But that's what I like.

I'm not sure what to make of this show. I'm no prude, but I actually enjoyed the more wholesome aspects of the episode rather than the blue, or more ribald, humor. I didn't find anything un-funny per se; just not "hilarious" or filled with "exceptional" comedic timing & wit, as described by some commenters.

The urge to drop it is pretty clear already, but if it's not too bad, & the Fall season turns out to be a dud, this might be an OK filler anime.

The art and animation in the show is perfectly fine. If you want some truly terrible animation then go watch a GEEKTOYS production.

This episode seemed to be all over the place, but nowhere in actuality, and not even in an entertaining way.

So the interactions with the witch(es) and Viola, also the summons and Viola, is supposed comedy? It has yet to get me going.

Will probably drop this if nothing changes the next episode.

This anime is so cute!! I wanna know how baby Viola ended up in the woods, but right now I just wanna focus on what's happening now!! Once again we get a young teenage girl with with a world defying body😅😂, and a mother who is older but somehow hasn't grown that much! It's pretty natural for people to misunderstand. For a 16 year old Viola sure acts like a child lol, and she clearly has a mother-complex, again natural hahaha! I can't wait for more of this!!

Eh, this first episode was ok, I didn't laugh at most of the gags although I did find the phoenix reacting like a cat by freaking out over a cucumber a little funny (I never did understand why some cats would freak out over a cucumber being placed behind them but I guess it is because it simply startles them). Viola looking like a mature lady but acting like a child was a bit strange to me.

@ArimaKana It's not so much her looking older that weirds me out, it's mostly how she's acting. A 16 year old does not act like that. The older looks only add to this contrast.

I think part of that is Alyssa raised her with the perspective that 16 is still a toddler in terms of a witch’s longevity. She even says so in one of the eps. Plus she admits to spoiling her. I’m sure Viola would act considerably different if Lyra was her “mama”

@geptor Classic demand and supply holy shit my dude, most of the series that adapted into anime is always have some popularity for it's source. You can argue with high quality VA tho, but isn't that good thing?
