| Episode 1 premiered early on Animax Japan. https://twitter.com/ANIMAX_Japan/status/1706956847830237666 The return of famed mangaka Shuichi Shigeno, his modern successor's return from Initial D, is back in the form of MF Ghost! With the MFG racer of Shun Aiba racing through the mountainous regions of Japan, so too is the England foreigner of Kanata Rivington (brandishing as Katagiri) meeting Ren Saionji, one of the MFG Angels who Shun is trying to court, and she is already enraptured by Kanata's looks. Kanata, on the other hand, goes to Ogata to ask about the regulations of MFG, which he wants to experience it for the first time. Ogata is elated and lends him his Toyota 86 to try it out. Ren on the other hand, tries to get to know Kanata better, which he is in Japan to locate his missing father. Ren's friend of Wakana is elated to see the picture, though Ren saw Kanata's picture, one of his only pictures of his father who may be somewhere in Japan. But damn, Shun is persistent about knowing about Ren, that once he saw Kanata, he introduces himself as the GT-R driver who's still in the pack. A good thing that Ogata still has his unmodified Toyota 86 while Ren helps Kanata locate his father in Kamakura being as close to the location in the photo as possible, thanks to his mother who met his father, married and gave birth to him. As expected, the qualifications are quite strict, aside from Ren being the new addition that excites everyone, plus Shun with his usual stalking. The Odawara Pikes Peak may be the longest MFG course, but Kanata has it memorized and for the rest, it's up to Kanata to master the course. Yeah...the anime is starting to rush through the manga, but I also understand the intention for the anime to be better paced and not rush through the important moments. Give Felix Film some time to cook. But if there's one thing I wanna say: EUROBEAT IS BACK, BABY! |

| Awesome first episode have been so looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint it was great to hear the eurobeat again. Is it only this first episode that will air a day earlier than what MAL says or will they all air on a Saturday? |

| It's here, finally. Initial D successor is here. Loved the episode and setting, both mc and fmc are likeable. The moment Ren was making fun of falling for someone at first look I knew what was gonna happen but I ain't complaining. She's a lovely girl and I do hope they get together soon. Kanata seems like a nice and earnest guy. He reminds me of Takumi in a way. Gotta see his racing style and see if it's any similar to his. Btw the car number is 86, OFCOURSE. Loved the eurobeat soundtracks, glad they decided to keep it. Also I'm so hyped to see him race, need the next episode right now. |

| It's been quite a while since the last time I watched a sequel of Initial D (the last one I remember was where they switched eurobeat music for crappy western rock). I'll be honest, I don't like how there's so much romantic focus between Ren & Kanata. Why? because the author tends to either make the guy get rejected or the guy chooses his car over the girl, so it's all pointless in the end. I do like this more polished chara design, it does have the style of previous Initial D series while looking more eye pleasing. Funny that so far Kanata, Ren and even the mechanic guy look so similar to Takumi, Mogi & Itsuki from Initial D. I was seriously hoping for a big moment at the end of the episode, most other iterations of Initial D have had an iconic driving move to keep the audience hooked for the next episode, but not on this one. Even though it may look like I got a lot of complains, I'm still invested in watching this one all the way to the end. |

| Ren falling in love so fast after being extremely philosophical was so me XD MC looks cute and his accent is lovely :D next episode will be banger for sure |

In addition to his first interactions with Japan (the chopsticks, the politeness) Kanata using γ’γγ€γ« at 8:14 instead of γΉγγ or ζΊεΈ― in the Japanese audio is true to his British side, and in the subtitles, while Saionji has γγ translated as "Mom" at 4:06, Rivington has γγ translated as "mum", which is a nice touch. 9:41 The eyecatches are back, too! 17:38 Ryosuke namedropped No more travelling from place to place looking for drivers to challenge as with Project D. As a legal event, there's foreign manufacturers like Porsche and Ferrari funneling money and talent into MFG. Engine on and Eurobeat time... ...and it's a damn cliffhanger, next episode, we actually see the protagonist in the race Rather lo-fi ED |

| Good first episode. Would be better if it's double-length that featured the entire qualifying round. Art style reminds me of Insomniacs After School; could be because of the coloring and the line thickness. In an era where all new cars use electric propulsion, MFG is the swan song of internal combustion motoring, a sendoff for gasoline power cars. Aiba Shun described the competition along the lines of the final bearer of racing series of old. That included grid girls/angels (in 202X? Yeah, I'm surprised, too. F1 already ditched them some time ago). In-universe, the grid girls functioned as idols, as you can see with Shun simping for Ren. Speaking of Ren, the angel gig must pay really well for a highschooler like her to sign up for this. Out-of-universe, it's primarily a device for a romance to be developed between her and Kanata while the latter races. As for Kanata, did they use Prince William as a reference for his design? His birth surname Rivington sounds like Engrish, but that's an actual place in England. What's more, Eurobeat soundtrack! Hype! I'm excited for the next episode! P.S. "MF Ghost" "MF Ghost" |

I've to admit that I haven't read or watch Initial D before, but I'll jump to this anime because I love the idea of using electric car to race, it's such a sustainable entertainment! Could this be called a "green start"? LOL
| @phantomfandom The only non-combustion engine cars in this episode are an EV and FCV at the place where Kanata and Shun were eating GyΕ«don. The cars in MFG (the race) use combustion engines. |

| So... I wasn't going to watch this series giving the fact that I haven't finished Initial D yet (I plan to), but a good friend of mine told me knowing all of Initial D's plot actually isn't strictly necessary because MF Ghost is more like a "spiritual successor" rather than a direct sequel. I very much enjoyed the first episode, art was beautiful, it didn't have sakuga but I don't really care about that, eurobeat song that played when Katagiri entered the race was a jam, AND Ren is a cutie, it's kinda obvious that she is MFGA Seven, isn't it? I wonder if Kanata and Aiba will end up as rivals. |

| EUROBEAT IS BACKKKKKKKK! but i slapped myself so hard when it ended just before the race actually kicked off. big fan of initial D but ngl, i initally didn't like the manga that much because i think it just works better in animated form, and i was right because while this wasn't exactly a great episode, i still preferred it over the manga. it did feel rushed though, i realized they cut out aiba's dialogue right before his race, not that it was anything important but i just remembered that bit of dialogue very clearly because it was one of the first things said in the manga. kanata and ren have an interesting thing going on, MFG also has a lot more fanservice compared to initial D so i wonder how most people will react to that. they used miki shinichiro aka takumi's voice actor to narrate the beginining!! goated choice. |

| This is fking sick. The nostalgia is hitting me!!! I think this might be a dark horse this season. I may end up loving this show. I can already feel the eurobeat coming XD Too bad this was a buildup ep. Keen for the next one. I wonder when Takumi will show up ππ |

| Ren already hypocritical af and Kanata is meh as a character. His enthusiasm for everything Japan felt...weird...total circle jerking imo. Cars were cool and I like the racing backdrop, so might stick around a bit. I also like storytelling, but these set-ups are just so blah and juvenile it's near uninteresting. Also, anime got creeps and I'm ok with that cause it's stories, but that one dude mad creepy LOL. Asking for personal info, acceptable. Take yo shot. Digging for personal info, you stalking at that point. Pass and smash all the friends. |

| Initial D clone with near exact same character designs, are they supposed to be offspring? The animation at times didn't live up previous Initial Ds. Might drop this for some time depending on how the next episode develops. |
