Lol, i just wanted to came and make one Hm, firstly the last episode and the donghua team gave a lot to their viewers from my point of view The core revealing( jiang cheng with loose hair looks hot 🤣), where some chickens around, wei ying parents, and aww the hug from shizui made the most sweet moment in the episode, sadly all good things must come to an end Yes, they change, moved some scenes but it never bothered me By by wonderful donghua Loved it. Hmm hehe... The animation, the soundrack and the VA were at point. I had it at 9 i gave a 10. |

It was all so beautiful that i want to keep crying about it. I can't believe it's all over, which is so sad, but i also can't believe we also got to hear them say ''Wangxian''. The fact that they also ended the show with ''Wangxian'' while showing their story is just too perfect. |

One of the few I give 10/10 in all seasons. It's a masterpiece. Sadly many people will not give it a chance just because it's chinese. |

I'm not one to comment much but I'd really love to share how I feel after watching the whole series. At first, I watched season 1 because of the cover, it's just so lovely and attractive. I read the comments and a lot of 'em adviced to read the novel and so I did and I didn't regret it because I get to understand the whole story better specially LWJ expressions and that affectionate stare you wouldn't notice at first glance. This whole story is just so wholesome to me and had definitely left a mark in my heart. Even after finishing the novel and reading the manhua, I was still anticipating for the third season of the donghua and I was greatly satisfied. During the whole series, I was really hoping that WWX and JC to make peace, it was sad for me to see how their once lovely brotherhood got broken and I was hoping they could mend it but it wasn't, I was disappointed with JC but I don't hate him as he had his reasons, I just wished he'd understand our Baby WWX even better as he among all of them was the one who stayed with wwx the longest. I read and finished the Novel long way before the third season was announced so after this season came I look crazy smiling and squealing in my room at every subtle hint of intimacy even though I already what's coming but you just really don't know how it'll come out so it's still thrilling. Whenever I miss the story I'd rewatch and reread the novel, I just really love it. There are tons of scenes I'd love to see to have been animated but this finale is already enough the team had already done great to have animated this wholesome and great story. I am highly grateful to the author to have created this wonderful masterpiece. |

I am crying, can't believe the adaptation is officially over. So they first went to the ancestral hall then the core reveal happened then JC confronted WWX and cried. It was nice to see it visually and it made me emotional too but I still prefer the novel and audio drama version since those were not rushed so it felt more impactful. I'm glad that they also showed the flashback of JC leading the Wens away from WWX which was how he got caught and lost his golden core in the first place but he never told WWX about this, just like how WWX never told him about the core transfer. Ugh shuangjie feels. T_T WWX and Sizhui finally knowing/remembering that Sizhui is actually A-Yuan, Sizhui hugging WWX and LWJ was so cute, I love this family. Also the wangxian was strong from start to finish, WWX finally knows how and why LWJ got the scars, he finally knows that the song was composed by LWJ and it's called Wangxian HAAAA. I will miss Mo Dao, it will always have a special place in my heart. |

It was a beautiful story. I hope that JC and WWX will reconcile. I was so sad that JC secluded himself and living Jin Ling. There is so much I want to see on this season and I hope that writer will continue the novel. To all Donghua team, thanks for 3 years of producing this great story. |

One of my all-time favorite series, I will be rewatching all 3 seasons over and over again. I was crying when they played xian yun at the end. I cant stop thinking about the song and the visuals. Stay strong jc, xichen, jin ling..i hope things get better for them post-canon. The real MVP nie huisang is finally at the top of the cultivation realm. There were problems due to rushing but still, I enjoyed this season a lot. Thank you donghua team! The art, animation, music everything was great! |

I'm not mad at this ending, not at all. All I ever wanted afterall, was Wangxian being able to be together in the end. Very bold choices made there with WWX parents parallels and the actual inclusion of "just needing a little one" (not even the novel WWX was this bold about it). And of course, namedropping Wangxian. I didn't expect that! Other highlights of this episode: Lan Xichen standing right behind the door waiting to spill the tea to Wei Wuxian. He should be careful about hanging out around Wangxian's rooms tho, may hear something he doesn't want to hear:) Lan Wangji's scars backstory...got misty eyed. Angry purple grape having mental breakdown with his hair down. (But him going to a seclusion? What a nonsense lmao). Lan Wangji saying:"Fuck Jiang Cheng lives". Lan Wangji proposing to WWX with chickens even though he married him like two times already. Sizhui! hugging his dads (even my dead cold heart felt touched at this moment and I shed a tear or two). Needles to be said...not even Wangxian is going to make me rate this thing and its terrible pacing and weird plot Frankenstein-ing with 10 or 9. I still have some pride, ok? Why did the fake tiger amulet get more screen time than Nie Huiesang? And most importantly? Why didn't S3 have 24 episodes?? It certainly needed them. |

It´s made me cry! Was a great idea melt all his moments in one to avoid cutting off the continuous flow of his stormy emotions, all his words were very harsh and did a lot of damage, but he needed it. This was a truly turning point. |

Wow, it's over. And, while I was worried about getting a whole episode of epilogue, they actually did a good job with it. In the drama, I feel like Jiang Cheng's meeting with Wei Wuxian happened before the final battle. But, I have terrible memory, so I may have been wrong. It does fit perfectly well in this episode. I loved the absolutely stunning way they showed Wen Ning explaining about Jiang Cheng's golden core. This is an animated story, and that scene does what only animated stories can do, and I love it. Recently, I have been getting quite tired of anime not taking advantage of the fact that it is a collection of drawings. Wen Yuan's secret has finally been revealed here as well. And, I still want him to be Wei Ying's and Lan Zhan's adopted kid. This episode, it really felt like the two leads would kiss despite China's weird laws. Everything was just so inmate! I hope we get to see a director's cut where the leads actually kiss. Though, with the characters here, you don't really need a kissing scene to know they're madly in love. They don't declare it, but we can still see how their expressions and actions are overflowing with their love and affection for each other. The drama didn't mention the song's name, did it? I was surprised when they mentioned it here. WangXian. The song that brought Wei Ying back to Lan Zhan. Now, let's talk about the negative: some of the CG scenes weren't that good. They looked good, but they resembled a video game more than an animated series. Also, the flowers looked like erasers. They could have added some subsurface scattering to make them look like an organic material. |

The novel (and also the untamed) basically goes...the burial mounds fight> then they go to the Lotus Pier where stuff about Jin Guangyao gets revealed> then Jiang Cheng ambushes Wangxian in the ancestral hall and they fight and then Wen Ning tells JC about the golden core> then they leave and go to Yunping city where the Guanyin temple is located> stuff happens> they get taken as hostages by JGY> the final fight happens> wangxian elope> the end |

I'm speechless. They got together in the end, with Lan WangJi saying the name of their love song... they are going home to some cozy cottage just the two of them and their pet bunnies. I just love this story so much.So much. Cried in the novel, cried in the live action, cried in the audio drama... it wouldn't be different here. WangXian! It's a beautiful name! I like it! We didn't get kisses, love confessions, but it's official.. They are in love, married and living together alone, away from the troubles of the world. Cheers to their everyday(hoho) and forever. |

I just watched the last episode and I can't get the fact that there won't be a new episode every week. I mean where should I get my life energy :( Anyway the episode was amazing. The chemistry between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan was so good. I literally screamed non stop or cried because of Jiang Cheng. I was a little surprised that Lan Zhan told Wei Ying the song name because of the censorship but I'm happy that he did. But I'm confused about Jiang Cheng seclusion. In my opinion he would never leave Jin Lin alone by himself. My poor boy don't know what to do after the death of Jin Guangyao |

I like how they tried to include as many scenes between WangXian as possible, despite the censorship. I liked how bold WWX was by saying “Now we just need a little one” not once, but twice; and then A-Yuan just showed up. The meaning of Sizhui’s name, the golden core reveal, the story behind Lan Wangji’s scars, they never fail to make me cry. I am so happy to see that finally WangXian got their happy ending and will spend their lives together from now on. I loved how the ED song this last time was WangXian and how they showed so many scenes between them. In this last episode it’s like the donghua team included every scene that was missing and said get on this rollercoaster of emotions for 26 minutes. I liked the animation and the music very much, the VAs did a great job. What I didn’t like was the fast-pacing and how they messed with the timeline, especially in the last episdodes. Also the character of Jiang Cheng :( … I won’t complain any further and just say that in just a few months Mo Dao Zu Shi became my favorite donghua and made me read this amazing novel, which I wholeheartedly recommend. <3 |

JC missed a lot because of his stubbornness, but isn't that how people in real life actually react. In real life, people act like JC and they do regret. It looks like the Stygian Tiger Amulet hasn't been destroyed yet. So the journey is not over yet?! Someone in this forum stated that the Novel is still ongoing. I'll check that out, & read it from the start. Thank You! |

Why did they reorder things. Why did they make Jiang Cheng go into seclusion? I'm so confused at the logic of these changes. Sure I can enjoy the beautiful animation because I already know the original story but. I recently rewatched the first season and am pretty disappointed at the lost potential. All seasons should've been 15 episodes long and then, I think this would've turned out better. I'll forever be confused at the changes this ending made on Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng. |

WWX and JC scenes always had the most impact for me. While WWX is always doing the right thing, he is also indirectly causing pain to JC. You don't always have to tell people you helped them, but I found WWX annoying in this season. JC and JL are still visibly hung up over the past but all WWX hardly does anything. Yea, solving the mystery and proving your innocence is good but that will not heal the scars. I read another post saying they somewhat reconcile in the novel. But this bad end in the animation fits perfectly. WWX spends half the season prioritizing LWJ and ignoring most issues, him just running away and abandoning JC makes sense. |

A lot of people are animation only but I strongly recommend reading the novel. It's a complete journey not only for the main pair wangxian but for the side characters too. About Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng novel spoilers ahead: Their parting ways is more amicable in the novel and makes much more sense. In the novel Jiang Cheng talks to Wei WuXian again, it's a long conversation and Wei WuXian tells his brother that he can no longer fulfill his promisse to be by his side. Even with all the pain the two can finally start healing. Jiang Cheng understands in the end that he has to let his brother go. They have different paths now. Wei WuXian don't want to take a huge part in the cultivation world anymore, he wants to live in peace with the love of his life: Lan WangJi. In the novel, Jiang Cheng says "Each one of us going back to their own sect". It was already after Wei WuXian had left with Lan WangJi, so he accepted it, and knows that they will see each other again eventually. The Donghua team had only 35 episodes with 20 min lenght to adapt a 113 ch novel that has almost 500k words. So they had to butcher a lot of things and to focus in the main pair. Just a candy for you all and it has something to do with Jiang Cheng, for those that are too angry about his ending. Recently a letter written from Lan WangJi to Wei Wuxian to celebrate happy mid autumn festival was released: "Wei Ying, you've spent more than two years in the cloud recesses resting under the eaves of the room, wine in the woods, experiencing countless sunrises and sunsets, and there are many little things in life that I want to share with you. You have fattened the rabbits in the backyard. Actually, you've also gained weight. Not a lot, don't worry about losing weight. The number of rules jingyi is punished to copy has lessened. Sizhui is able complete tasks on his own. As for Jiang Cheng, letting him entering the cloud recesses for no reason, what kind of custom has formed for sect leader jiang to always be so noisy in the cloud recesses? It's the mid autumn festival again, I know you should be thinking about those who can't be reunited, I have agreed with shufu to invite everyone to write mid autumn festival blessings, just to tell you that we have always been here (for you). Blessings from thousands of people, would you be satisfied with this gift? I've also prepared some small, hand-made objects. when i'm done, they are yours. Happy mid autumn festival, Wei Ying. mdzs was one of the best donghua for me regarding animation and ost. cant explain how much im gonna miss this series. :( and the last episode..i cant stop crying T-T the fact that jc captured because he tried to divert wen clan's attention from wwx. and the reveal of the jc's golden core is actually wwx's. they never knew that both of them made sacrifices for each other. flashbacks of wwx's family and ayuan hugging lwj and wwx scene was so emotional. im so happy they reveal behind lwj's scars and how he tried to protect his love against everyone else 13 years ago. i was deliberatly waiting for a kiss scene even though china's cencorship laws between males T-T but in the end it was obvious they are madly in love. and they even played the full song of "wangxian" as ending. 10/10 |

Just wanted to stop by and say that I love Jiang Cheng so much T^T! I cried a lot during his scene. Also, he looked so beautiful with his hair down, it reminded me of his parents. Sending him and Jin Ling lots of hugs, and wishing them peace and happiness always T^T And they did really well despite the censorship, to give the feeling of WangXian~ I was glad to see the scene where Xichen talks about how Lan Wangji got the scars, him catching Wei Ying (even if it wasn't from the tree, they still showed his childhood memories with Yanli..which was nice), and how them traveling together reminded him of his parents. When they said the little one, and WangXian, ahhh I was happy ^^ I'm going to miss the donghua. Definitely cried during the op/ed songs, knowing it was the last season. I hope they make more seasons for MDZS Q. Anyway, I pre-ordered my novel, so I look forward to reading it again one day :) |

It has absolutely nothing to do with the Donghua or especially the novel. Their last scene in the novel is neutral. There is no hatred anymore but WWX has moved on with Lan Wangji. MXTX never shows them reconcile in anyway in the novel. If she wanted to she had many extras to do so. And Jiang Cheng got off easy if anything. |

I wish Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng sorted out everything by talking it out instead of leaving it messed up like that. I feel bad Jiang Cheng. Lan Zhan and Wei Ying's moments in the last episode was touching. And the music at the end was beautiful. Overall it was really enjoyable even though I didn't understand a few things. But the animation was beautiful and even their voice actors did a great job. So, overall 8/10 |

I had to take a step back after the previous episodes to watch something that would piss me off like this last season. Episode 12 was barely better than the other episodes. Still more non-canon characterization, weird inserts of events just to finish up without plotholes (LXC poping just to tell about LWJ's scars) and critical missing scenes that aren't Wangxian related. I mean, I love Wangxian, but I love intact characters more. This last half of season I would have rated below 5 but since there was good in this season like the animation, music, nicely handled canon events and I did enjoy the heck of some parts I will give it a 7/10. If only they didn't mess with characterizations so much, it would have been a great season. This was just a pain to watch as a novel fan |

What an ending! I am feeling sad ,it feels complete ,the presentation was nice I just wished that the story part before this was executed much better ,but I can live with the ending Masterpiece,it's just that good emotionally Although s1 was the best I still feel this season was lacking in certain areas , I remember s1 being so good Anyway these are my thoughts on each season S1:9.8/10 S2:8.2/10 S3:9.1/10 Loved the journey might read the light novel to clear up certain things |

I highly recommend you all to read the novel. The team only had 35 episodes to adapt almost 100 chapters of the original novel. They had to pick and choose which details to include and omit due to the time crunch, and even so they did a great job with it. As someone who has read the novel, I was able to throughly enjoy watching this as I had a greater understanding of the storyline. I definitely noticed a large chunk of details weren't included, but since I had already read the novel it didn't bother me as I already knew the backstory. There was just simply not enough time to be able to add in all the small details that you would get from reading the novel. I encourage you all to read the novel, and then come back and rewatch this season/adaptation. I can assure you that you will be able to appreciate and enjoy MDZS much more than you may have the first watch after you understand the true depth of the story. |

This season was probably the weakest, felt like watching a summary of the show rather than the actual show. Good stuff: Production Quality, Music Bad stuff: Chinese VA, characters, and gay romance 5/10 |

this was my first donghua and it was an enjoyable experience. perhaps it's because it's been a while since i've watched anything but i liked it nevertheless. i was a bit reluctant to start it because i am not used to Mandarin but it grew on me. still can't get the hang of the names though, maybe one day overall, looking back on it- the story wasn't terribly intriguing or unique and had a lot "huh..?" moments, BUT there wasn't any terrible plot holes that bothered me and i was never bored. which is the most important in my book. if the story doesn't put me to sleep nor give me a headache due to many unanswered questions, i am happy despite the censoring, the relationship between the two main characters was still conveyed pretty well, even if it was subtle. i honestly did not know this was a BL at first, though. it really doesn't present itself as such, which makes it accessible to most viewers the highlight of this donghua for me personally was the music. i absolutely adore Chinese instruments so this was a treat. a lot of scenes were elevated by 1000% because of the emotional music the art was fine, CGI wasn't too intrusive, the animation was clean. solid all around, although some characters looked too similar to each other, but that's not exclusive to this donghua i think the donghua could have used more episodes or even an extra season to flesh out some characters and the story even further. it felt like some things were definitely skipped, but i have not read the novel so i have no idea i don't have any major complaints aside from what i've mentioned, and i think they did well with what they had to work with. i enjoyed watching this |

Maybe It's Just Me But I Found Myself Getting The Characters Mixed Up. All The Lan Clan Look So Alike As To Having To Remind Yourself Which Is Which. Lan Wangji Really Never Spoke A Lot Throughout The Series. Maybe Less Is More. Enjoyable, But Preferred Season 1. |

A lot of it was Chinese and I didn't exactly understood all of it cz they use different things to call one person and when u do the same thing with a lot of ppl it gets confusing, so a lot of time I didn't knew who's talking about who but I understood the plot and I think that's enough, Other thing is that they did that purple guy (who's head of the clan and who was wei's best friend when they were young) pretty dirty, I really liked his character but they never went anywhere with it so I hope they did him better in other mediums And lastly the show was amazing, pretty strong storyline, and graphics was just awwwww, so good and beautiful graphics, I would say the most strong point of the show is it's animation, Their r some bad points in the show mainly BL stuff, complete bullshit, even the ppl who had wives didn't cared for them much or girls didn't get any screen time at all, only if it had some good straight romantic storyline that would be amazing but instead they went with the bullshit for some reason but graphics tho! Anyway 8 for sure |

i just can't believe all the things Wei had to live with, taking all the blame for things he didn't do, thinking he was the actual cause of all that happened, survivor's guilt while trying his utmost to help the one person he'd sworn to be there for, and holy crap, he didn't even have his core once the Wens found him on the mountain and pushed him into the burial mounds D: there's just too much reveal about all of the cruelty he had to endure, due to who he was and what he did. also, holy crap, -someone is a goddamn rascal once he get drunk, that wall-scribing, such streetcred. drunk Lan Zhan is the best. so unhinged and primal and forward with what he wants. i crylaughed when the episode rolled around and Wei Wuxuian finally found out what the headband represented, and it gave new light to so many of the scenes where it was included. those other cloudboys must have had some thoughts about seeing their senior having removed his headband and tied it to someone else _xD i personally am a fan of the "strong silent" stereotype, and based on such characters i've seen before, it's a huge thing when they finally show any emotion. while it was a bit of a shaky road during "the before years", as some scenes suggested Lan Zhan wasn't okay with Wei Wuxian fiddling with his headband, during the course of those he seemed to mind slightly less, and once Wei is revived again, the animation of the "strong silent" lad was just him being heads over heels and it was precious and adorable. -the last episodes revealing how much guilt and sorrow he felt for Wei dying on him in the first place, and how he previously had admitted he wanted to bring someone home to protect them, my heart really ached for the poor guy. -i have not read the novel, just some summary of wo-hoo-time between the main characters, i don't understand when people keep saying the anime/donghua was rushed. The pacing was pretty good to me, especially compared to anime with much worse pacing i've seen. It was, to me, pretty easy to follow, and the politics i only managed to keep track of since the different teams were color-coded. very sad there are, like, no slow-burn male x male romance stories out there on the animated market, or if there is, i haven't come across them yet. This was also my first time watching a chinese production like this, and don't think i've watched any chinese-language animation before, but it was an interesting and rather pleasant experience. the only real minus i have to give is the censorship, i applaud the animators and producers for still "sneaking" so many hints into the show itself, without explicitly saying dudes are more than just bros. -i kinda wish stuff like this could be more wholesome with less tragedy though, like the things both Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian went through. a bit sad that it's over, and while i had hoped to watch some other chinese animations i've heard are based on BL-stories, i also doubt i will "fully" enjoy them if they are censored like this one. TL;DR: this was a whole hecking ride! glad i watched it, sad about the censoring, and to hell with power-hungry types who stop at nothing to get what they want. |

Sajonji said: 9 / 10, was a great season again, though it did feel a bit rushed. I just wish i could tell people apart / connect names to faces better in this show. Apart from our 2 main boys, i had a hard time following the story. -understandable; and with everyone having 2-4 different names depending on who is talking to them or when, makes it even harder to keep track _xD but hey- at least they're color-coded _XD! |
