----------------------------------------
About time MAL forums came back.

Episode 5...well I have to admit, the villagers have a lot of courage to stand up against the Ogres and Trolls. Those things definitely looked like they were ready to kill.

Nphi deserved my respect this episode too for showing his courage to help Enri.
I wish they poured more budget into the actual action and character designs because the ogres were pretty odd looking with the CGI.

I think the most noticable part of the episode is the relationship development between Nphi and Enri. They actually cute together and Nphi is becoming more confident in himself.

Enri and Nphirea along with other Golems fight the troll and that Giant of the East. They are able to protect their village with the help of Nemu.
Lord Gown is always so friendly with the humans. And that ending part, looks like Enri has accepted Nphirea's feelings.

Disappointing episode.

Honestly, I cannot muster a care for majority of the side characters. They are one-dimensional and uninteresting.

This arc has been slightly more interesting than those of the previous season - mainly because I at least vaguely care about Enri and Nphirea after the first season - but I question if the arc really needed to be as long as it has been; I feel like you could have cut an episode out and still maintained the same effect. That being said, Nphirea, Enri and Nemu being invited into Nazarick was interesting, and as usual I'm curious to see what angle Ains is working from this time, as directly inviting humans as guests into Nazarick is an unusual move by his standards.

Just realised in the ending theme we can see Ainz hand's crumbling while reaching out, it's the first time something like failure is ever hinted in the openings/endings.

The eps. needs to escalate a bit faster though, that was a bit lackluster.

Some proper development between Enri and Nphi and nice way to end this arc. Imo one of the lesser episodes of this season so far but still pretty good.

With just this arc lasting more than a third of the season I'm kinda worried they might rush the rest of this season.

the things they've teased at the opening happens in a span of more chapters than this arc did in the ln, it would be understandable if this season had 26 episodes, but 13 episodes just seem like a rush.

Or maybe not everything from the opening will be done in this season, who knows

Can we end this arc as soon as possible? please. Man Ainz has a thing for little children. ;PPP

Need to add previous episodes to the forum though.

Decent epsiode. To be honest, I’m let-down a bit since I was very hooked up from Season 1 start but then the two following Seasons just gave Momonga less focus and so the intensity and interest has definitely reduced.

Looking forward to the next epsiode regardless!

Too much time wasted on a simple side story. 3 or 4 eps for Vol 8 would be enough.

Too bad for Vol 7 and 9 having only 8 eps left.

It was a pretty good episode. The villagers managed to beat the ogres without any casualties and Nphi and Enri got closer.

I wonder what Ainz actually thinks about Nemu.

I hope he doesn't use her for his own ends. Him being an undead has pretty much killed most of his empathy towards humans.

No he won't. The entire reason he puts her on the list of people Lupus needs to protect is because she rained praise on Nazarick and his friends. Him being an undead has nothing to do with it. Ainz as a person comes from a very dystopian world and he has no family and his only friends were in the game.

That makes sense.
I was just talking about the fact that in the first season, Ainz himself said that he didn't really feel a lot of empathy for humans anymore and was capable of doing things he wouldn't have done in the real world.

That mostly applies to watching people die. As long as they are not useful to Nazarick or of they don't praise Nazarick and his friends like Nemu did, Ainz is not going to go out ot his way to try to save those people.

I'm just sad that we had to spend 5 precious episodes on this side story. There are 8 episodes left so I assume volume 7 and 9 will get four episodes each. That's less than the episodes they used for volume 8, a freaking side story.

Sure it's nice to have world building, character development and stuff but I think they need to focus on the good stuff more in the anime adaptation.

I have to say, Nphi acted quite like a badass, goes to show how brain wins over brawl, plus I find that Nphi and Enri make quite a good couple, when they went to the Tomb of Nazarick with her little sister I was getting a kind of "married couple" vibe. One thing I am perplexed about was whether Ainz remembered the reaction Enri and her sister had the first time they saw him and so he wore the mask or if it was because Nphi never actually saw his skeleton face (if I recall, Enri had spoken to Nphi about Ainz but I don't think she included the skeleton bit and he only figured out that Momon was Ainz because either Narberal or him mentioned Albedo in front of Nphi) and wishes to maintain that way.

Parts of book 7 were already adapted and the book is also fairly short for a average overlord book, it would be fine if they spend 3 episodes on book 7 and the rest of the episodes which consist of 5 should be used for book 9.

I mean getting offended by someone else's opinion is like a basic principle on MAL.

But I digress, I would agree with him still, I think the world building is more important than just simply riding Nazarick's dick for how brutal, awesome they are during 3 seasons in a row.

It doesn't mean they need to drag every small piece out for 50 episodes.

Lingering on highly trivial details is hardly world building. I am all for it, if it's done right, which is not the case here.

The Nazarick itself as a location is hardly explored and showcased.

Not enough attention is paid to the characters that actually matter and/or are interesting. Some were even cut out of the anime.

Glad that the villagers & orcs managed to defeat the village on their own.
Oh and c'mon, Lupusregina had one job, one freaking job, to protect Nfi, Enri and her sister....and she almost failed at it.

To be honest i don't know what to expect from this series because it's changing so much every season that it feels a little that i'm watching a different anime. Like, the 2nd season was focused on the conquest of those lizards and the princess etc, now we are focusing on a village and it's habitats in the middle of nowhere. I'm not complaining because i'm enjoying this, but it seems like i don't know what to expect next. Still enjoying this a lot!
Let's see what will happen now.

That obviously reads out like someone who plunged himself into the LN expecting a god-like adaptation.

But I would like to ask, what kind of small details are you talking about that feel unecessary ?

Attempting to make us care about the goblins is one example.

They are a summon and are loyal to a master, the end. There is no need to add extra to a simple set of entities that serve one purpose.

Same with the lizard people in the last season. You're wasting your time animating a scene of two lizards fornicating...

I think it's unfair to say that the worldbuilding of the small and insignificant characters in overlord isn't necessary. I think it's interesting how much time they spend developing these side characters.

However, that's not to say you're wrong. We haven't got to see a lot of Nazarick, and many of the characters (as you mentioned) have been severely neglected. I'm not one to disagree that their should be more focus to Nazarick, and I think now typing this out I've come to agree that maybe their is too much of a focus on the side characters; although I can't say I mind it too much.

Whoa, I think Momonga stage the whole attack the village thing. I mean didn't he already killed that boss troll and the way the goblin (who now has the troll’s magic sword) can tell that it as if the troll was undead thus unable to fully heal naturally.
