About 13 minutes in length.

Surprisingly entertaining for a cooking series with Shirou and Saber. Catchy theme songs too. I think the animation style works for this too. That shrimp looks delicious. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food!

This was so wonderful to watch watching 'real' fate character series in screen after a long time. (tbh it looks better than I watched F/A) Nice to see this spin-off is based on F/SN route which is personally my favorite.

The shrimp looked so delicious :P

This made me salivate like mad. The second anime to do so after koufuku graffiti.
"Haruhi stood in front of a sign that says "Don't feed the pigeons," she then began to openly throw bread crumbs around like a gardener determined to make the wilting flowers blossom again. All I could say about this is that she's probably illiterate." - Kyon 2:3

Nice SOL, and having Fate characters made it better. Animation quality was surprisingly really good as each step in the cooking process was pretty damn detailed with some flair added for style.

Miura handled the comfiness really well.

What a perfect start of the year. I think I was smiling all the time during the episode, that is how much I enjoyed it. It really gave me the F/HA vibe and finally we got the Fate cooking series we so wanted, but that we don’t deserve.
I can’t wait for a shokugeki between Shirou and Archer ponytail Rin, young Shirou and Taiga, Medea in the kitchen and ofc... mapo tofu being cooked.

*Sniff* *Sniff* Can you smell what they're cooking? That's the smell of franchise abuse!

This is weird and entirely pointless. Seriously, imagine if someone made a home gardening anime with the characters from "Dragon Ball" or if there was a travel show with the characters from "Higurashi". It's such a bizarre set up for something so mundane. This is basically nothing but the fan-service side of "Fate/Stay Night", which was honestly my least favorite part of the original show.

There was a lot of cooking in the original Fate Stay Night novel, your point is?
I am the bone of my sword.
My blood is Iron, and my heart is glass.
I have overcome countless battlefields.
Unaware of beginning,
Nor aware of the end.
The orphan is alone again, Striking diamond dust on a hill of swords.
Yet, my flame never ends.
My whole body was still "Unlimited Blade Works".

I suppose my point is that this show just feels incredibly unnecessary. Whenever a book or show is created, I ask: does it deserve to exist? What does it contribute? In my opinion, this show contributes nothing. It tells no story, develops no concept, elaborates on no point. Worse still, it perpetuates a characterization of Saber I never liked. In "Fate/Zero", Saber was a strong warrior that was conflicted about her motivation. "Fate/Stay Night" destroyed that complex characterization and devolved her into a swooning maiden. Personally, I find it despicable.

Granted, I do suppose complaining about the Fate series is a moot point. "Fate/Zero", the show that introduced me and the one I enjoyed, is actually an anomaly that arouse from the franchise, considering the original "Fate/Stay Night" was an eroge visual novel. I always have high expectations for the Fate series, but in reality I shouldn't expect much. I suppose this pointless cooking show with a side of fan-service is closer to the spirit of the original than "Fate/Zero" was.

If you love Zero and thinks Stay Night is poor, why are you here? This is clearly a spin off based on Fate Stay Night, also Stay Night Saber a "swooning maiden"? I think you're a little salty bruh, Stay Night Saber feels different because this time she actually gets development, unlike in Zero where she's a brash warrior who hates her master and never thinks about her own ideology, in Stay Night she interacts with a master that treats her like and equal with a life dillema that reminds her of her past, causing Saber to think about her own beliefs. I love Zero just as much as you do but you should probably start putting it on such a high pedestal.
On the topic of the spin off, why are you triggered by it's existence? It's an ONA that's supposed to be a fun entertaining time, it's pretty similar to Hollow Ataraxia, not only that but this show tbh is way better than a lot of Fate crap like Apocrypha.

(As I nervously try to hide my saltshaker:) I'm not salty.

I admit, it's been a while since I watched Fate/Zero, maybe I should give it a re-watch. I do recall there are some parts that are a bit corny. In addition, maybe I should give "Fate/Stay Night" the same treatment. In my defense, there are some VERY bad parts of "Fate/Stay Night". The scenes (of which there are two, which you have to admit is excessive) where Emiya walks in on Saber in the bath are super cringey. I don't think those are included in "Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks", which as I understand is a better telling of the story (one I admit I have never watched). I just feel a more stoic interpretation of Saber's character is more fitting for the tragic end of King Arthur's legend.

As to why I'm here... I saw this anime by chance and I HAD to watch it. I thought for sure the description was wrong or maybe I was misunderstanding it. But sure enough, it's exactly what it sounds like: a cooking show staring the cast of "Fate/Stay Night". What really kills me is how Emiya narrates as he cooks, like he's actually on the cooking channel. I wanted to share my opinion, since that's pretty much all this website is: opinions. I think I presented my critique in a fair, all be it goofy, manner.

Actually Unlimited Blade Works is NOT a retelling, the original Fate Stay Night was a visual novel divided in 3 routes, Fate (the deen anime that's not only arguably the weakest route, but also the anime adaptation sucks), Unlimited Blade Works(The deen movie that also sucks and the ufotable anime which is really good) and finally Heaven's Feel (the latest fate stay night anime, it's being adapted into 3 movies by ufotable). These routes are extremely different from each other. Each one of them carries a theme and to understand Stay Night as a whole you need to play through all of them.
Also There's Fate Hollow Ataraxia, the Stay Night sequel that pretty much started this whole "Slice of life" Stay Night reality, since it's pretty much the core of it. This show isn't simply random fan-service, it's an homage do stay night and a sweet entertainiment.

You should give Unlimited Blade Works a try, the bath scene does not happen in this route and Saber's interpretation is way better than in the original anime. It's a pretty solid show.

Alright, I'll give it a shot.

Saber is kinda irrelevant in UBW tho, there's not much focus on her so don't get your hopes up, Fate route is where she gets the most focus but that got butchered by Deen.
Also, don't expect UBW to be similar to Fate/Zero or act as sequel to it, doing so will only add to your salt.

If you actually want to give Fate/stay night a second chance, I recommend reading the visual novel instead, Realta Nua exists so you don't have to see H-scenes if you don't want them.

Wow, this already seems like the best route ever, I longed ages for lighthearted Fate world like this. Character interatction in this slice-of-life were golden.

Seems like Ufo hit the right string this time, not to mention their almost maniacally precise animation.

But man, with this series out, now they really have to do Ataraxia later where everything takes inspiration.

I’m not familiar eith the original series at all so Ibstarted watching this knowing nothing of whatvto expect.

And yeah it felt like I was thrown into a story that had been hoing for a while since the presentation of the characters was as if I should already know them

Aside from that, it made me think of a cooling show on tv, it’s slow paced and the art in my opinion is very pretty, a little nostalgic feeling. The food looks delicious (and I don’t even like shrimps!)
