THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I actually found this episode somewhat silly, Maybe it's because of the way the Kiznaiver system works or the way the characters responds to them..

Almost felt bad for Yuta this episode. Guess he's not so perfect after all XD
As silly as some of the episode, the dangers still real so. I hope they cut down the comedy a bit, feels weird with this show imo.

Needing more info. on self intro? Or KajiKaji's character gets damage and everyone else affected. Revealing the fear of dog is correct? Basically fact that they don't want to say.

The cute "fushigi-chan" girl finally revealed that she's just making up fushigi-chan character of believing fairy. And that "Yuta-kun" guy was chubby in elementary school for teeth protection. KajiKaji's character has dark past, and his childhood friend liked him before his change. He answered her confession. So that's why megane girl was afraid of the dead girl's body, she killed her...

It seems like last character will appear in ep.3

Oh, so I'm not the only one who thought the lighthearted tone doesn't mix properly with this anime. Still a pretty decent episode I guess. But I'm getting used to this MC now.

What an insanely over the top way to drag out a love confession. XD If Chidori and ultra bland mc don't pork by the end of this I'll be disappointed. XD Maki the killer eh? Go on...

Rofl at whoever thought this would not be Okada as fuck. This episode literally is textbook Mari Okada nonsense. LEt's see if this ride gets as bullshit as Wixoss did.
Bring on the inevitable incest. 2/5 for the episode.

What? That ending tho.

I liked this episode. It seems like it will be 2 cours, since the pace is very slow.

And as everyone said, I think that the show should try to be more serious than funny.

I can see Trigger is very ambitious about this show and it reflects on the way they are moving forward with it.
Nice introductions for everyone, giving them somewhat depth. Only Tenga and Nico seemed to give silly reasons though.
The OP is really nice, and mid track too.
Katsuhira and Sonozaki seem to have a history, so what's it gonna be?

weird weird episode. i like noriko and katsuhira as characters. and the setting is also interesting. but comedy and the light hearted parts just dont fit imo. fear of dogs, being fat were just uninteresting confessions also. the show should go even more towards the mysterie behing the characters.

ROFL at that Okada bingo, definitely a winner here.
The Trigger comedy did not mesh well with the Okada "confession scenes" here; almost completely ruined my suspension of disbelief. At the same time though, it was that same out-of-place comedy- or rather, the fact that they were aware of just how absurd this whole deal was- that kept me watching anyways. I wonder if this is how people feel watching some of those "survival"-esque reality TV shows.

At any rate, I have to say I didn't hate it. Still a decent show, though if it keeps up this way then my tolerance will be decreasing soon enough. Eager to see how the MC continues to develop, and whether the "I killed a woman" person will have some connection to his past. But the sooner we move on to the actual plot, the better.

That Yuta and the dogs too is surely more "dangerous" than Tenga. LOL
So Nico was lying after all. And Yuta's secret is... Oh that surely is damn funny. And Chidori's introduction... It's a confession, right? I knew it. She'll confess, but to think that she'll confess in that situation is so heart-relieving.

Looks like I'm one of the few who's actually liking it more than other stuff from this season. I'm attracted to this series more so than others atm.
The biggest downside was that her being a murderer was totally predictable. The love confession would fit but she loved him earlier, I liked how over-the-top it was and it was revealed early instead of at the very end.
The statement below is true.

It's not tagged as a comedy so I expect they'll lay off on the silly humor once the story gets going, like Bungou Stray Dogs. That said, this episode did make me want to watch more, I'm curious where they'll go with the story. Also Yuta is the most handsome boy this season so that's a plus. Even though he's ashamed he was fat before he's still cute <3

I have found myself attracted to this show more than around maybe 2 or 3 others, and I really like it so far. The thought of her killing someone did come to me, but I imagined it being something along the lines of an accident she blames herself for, but her face at the end makes me kind of doubt that.

Maki killing someone was pretty predictable. Inb4 she didn't actually do it or something like that.

Anyway, I did like the interactions between the characters.

Dat fear of dogs was real tho lol
Nico trying to not stand out by being perfect and instead going for the crazy eccentric persona was kinda funny
Yuta being fat was hilarious
And the ChidorixKacchon stuff was pretty sweet. I like Chidori. She's cute.

Overall not bad. Still loving the visuals a lot

I hope it isn't another "I think I killed my friend but I actually didn't" and the road to redemption bullshit, ugh so boring.
Liking the shared pain stuff so far even if it is a bit non sensical, but the characters are so generic and boring.

The comedy was kind of off but at the same time it was kind of my personal liking. Pretty much liked the episode because of the introductions, and how the Kitsuna System works... is rather interesting for a start.

Quite frank its expected from Mari Okada, but at the same time I like it regardless because of the interactions and a bit of characterization for the cast.

Agreed with OP about the comedy. It's silly and ruins the atmosphere... I don't know where this show is heading in terms of storytelling. Who are those people behind the Kizuna system and what are their goals exactly? Really hope we'll find out next week because I've been disappointed with episode 2.

The hype train of this show will probably crash and burn after everyone find out this show will only be 12 episodes long. *sigh*

It could be possible that Trigger can miraculously make this show work with only a 1-cour run time but by the looks of where the plot is heading, I just can't see it.

There will also definitely not be a second season for this show because the producer specifically stated during a interview that this show (in Episode 0) will complete the entire of story that it was originally set out to do.

It's probably one of those predictable accident or a suicide some girl was bullied into and she stood by doing nothing type of deaths basically something she shouldn't feel responsible for.

Overall, as others have said I wasn't expecting such a light-hearted setup for this anime. I was expecting darker themes and imo the comedy is fine for now, but I'm hoping it gets a little more serious later into the show.

Nice self-introductions, Chidori is cute, hoping they show more Noriko next time considering they pretty much spoiled who she is already

Well I'm a sucker for character centered shows, so this is right my alley.

Even if the comedy didn't mash with the scene sometimes to me it's still charming. I expected all kinds of over the top and weird things so I'm fine if I get it in any way possible. Loving it :)

As others have mentioned, the comedy in this anime doesn't really seem to fit. I don't mind some comedy here and there, but going forward, I hope this gets dark, with some sparse comedic moments every once in a while.

I'm like 99% certain that Maki didn't actually kill anyone. Unless we get a flashback that shows her thrusting a knife into someone's chest or something, it'll most likely be, as @Holmes15 stated, one of those deaths that she shouldn't feel responsible for causing.

Also, I find it funny how as soon as the episode ended, I predicted I would come here and see people complaining about Mari Okada.....I was right.

I'm an emotional trainwreck and seeing characters being forced to reveal what hurts them the most... ahh, I'm such a wuss, I cried too much for a second episode.
This is nice, but Sonozaki seems way too weird of a character.
The comedy didn't bother me but it's true that the first episode was much more dramatic.
Again, I think Kill la Kill is the only show I watched from Trigger? And maybe they're going for the same drama vs comedy dosing.

The less Sonozaki I see on screen, the better.

I liked ep2 confession, and the concept still intrigues me in the ways it can be executed. So I'll keep watching.

Just put Sonozaki far away please.
