Another slow paced episode...

There's more background storytelling than I had expected for the season and this one wasn't much different either as it connected past family connections.

And lol, Sakurako's music tastes are funny. I thought the episode had a lighthearted and nostalgic feeling to it.

More glimpses at Sakurako's past as well.

A nice little wrap-up of the arc. I really enjoyed the part where they made they made Sayuki appear young again.

Was a bit of a weaker episode but was, like always, nice to see more sides of and reactions from Sakurako

That was nothing short of a tragedy. It was interesting to explore one side of the story this in-depth, a small glimpse of Sasaki-sensei and a poem left by Natsuko. They did come to terms with it in some ways, but somehow getting to see things from Natsuko's side would actually be "nice". This episode was a decent depiction of everyone having a darker side to them, secrets that are better left alone.

Didn't expect Sasaki-sensei to be Sakurako's mentor.

The ending made Sakurako seem like she has a breaking point, like how she was driven by emotions just moments before.

So the mystery behind Sasaki-sensei and his lost love is solved. A rather tragic situation, with a dead newborn thrown in for extra sadness. We also learn why Sakurako kept Radius. I can't help but wonder if she viewed Radius and Ulna's situations as the same with her and her brother...and I'm not sure we're finished with whatever she was talking to that screen about.

Shoutarou would make a pretty good detective. Although I still think of him more as a Watson to Sakurako being Sherlock.

All the pieces finally fall into place with the revelations. It's too bad Natsuko and Sasaki couldn't be together while both were alive, because she didn't have long to live (due to illness I assume) even without the misunderstanding of parentage or the cover-up.

Still curious about the Stephen Hawking Professor Shitara Masamichi character (apparently Sakurako's forensic scientist uncle), and what she talked with him about when she took that unsolved case file. A little unsettling.

I really liked this episode.
The part where the relative appeared young again was very surprising and a very interesting scene.
It's was also a pretty romantic story though very sad.

Much more interesting than most of the episodes so far, even with the very slow pacing this time. One thing's for sure: Sakurako has issues, and this series isn't done with them just yet. After all, there's still the mystery man from episodes 5 and 6, as well as the conversations with her uncle and also Sakurako's brother. Hopefully the show can deal with these in the final 4 episodes.

This was definitely in my opinion, the best pair of episodes of the series so far

The story behind Sasaki-sensei, his sister and his lover was really really sad and I felt like shit after hearing the true story behind it all....Hearing how those two adorable cats got poisoned by some asshat made me even sadder TwT Little Sakurako looked so sad :(

And now we learn that Sakurako not only went to the same school as Shoutaro but Sasaki was her mentor and is responsible for who she is today and her fascination with bones....I really liked how Shoutarou showed that he too is a detective and has great observation skills so that made me smile

The ending was really sweet as well and I thought it was too cute to see how excited Sakurako was to keep Radius and have MC-kun help her assemble the cat. The direct ending has me concerned now though O_O

As this series delves more and more into melodrama I find myself becoming less intrigued and slightly disappointed by it. It looks like the series will waste the energy of the start and likely become maudlin by the end. That's too bad. I hope that the series turns around and proves me wrong.

The episode was OK in general but the first part with the old woman was a bit boring, and her 'mystery' wasn't anything really interesting or relevant, but the rest of the episode was really good, and finally (at least for the first time since the show began), the MC actually did something!!

I'm also getting more and more curious about Sakurako's fiancé. That guy just can't be sincere.

That's an understatement. By having them look out for her, Sayuki basically denied the two persons that cared the most for her, and that she cared the most for, their happiness.

It was a pretty interesting episode learning more about Sasaki sensei and his sister which is a pretty sad story but what really got me was learning more about Sakurako's past and seeing Shoutarou learn more about her and connect more with her and then seeing more of her past and seeing just like they say in this episode there is always more than one truth and I cant wait to see more about her past in the next episodes!

Was wondering the same thing. I get the feeling that the incident with her cats may also be related to her younger brother's death somehow as well (and perhaps with the creepy hitchhiker from the other episode?).

By the way, have they even shown the fiancé yet? I don't recall ever seeing him.

This was rather so-so story but the resolution where we learnt about Sakurako's connection to professor was pleasant surprise. It seems all things in this series are there for a reason.

And now I just have to wonder, was all of this talk about Sasaki-sensei and Natsuko being half-siblings only foreshadowing of Sakurako and Shoutarou being long-lost brother and sister? You know, as there are always two truths...

Sakurako likes heavy metal or something? Okay then.......

Actually pretty good for an episode of this show. Its still by the numbers and generic in a lot of areas, but this episode actually gave a somewhat satisfying conclusion to an arc. Some things could be explained more but at least its not "THE CASE IS BULLSHIT" like what happened to the last one.

It had been established very early on that Sakurako likes metal music.

I too think that the one who killed the cats is the mysterious long haired fellow who appears in the OP, who may also be Sakurako's fiancé, and who is definitely connected to her brother's death.

About Shoutarou's amazing deduction, I thought it was obvious that Sakurako had indeed graduaded from the same high school, to the point it was self-evident but then again I know I am watching an anime series where coincidences are to be expected.

I didn't really find myself interested in this episode until the very end, since I'm curious about what Sakurako is talking about to the person in the hospital bed.

I'm also hoping they get back to that suspicious guy from the end of the first mini-arc, because I'm sure he has some sort of significant ties with Sakurako.

We got another slow episode... somehow this kind of arcs don't interests me. We don't get much mystery and about Sakurako's cat loving thing could've been shortened into one episode, omitting unnecessary bystander character.

Now that you've mentioned it, poisoning does seem to be that Hitchhiker's signature. Also, from what we got, the Hitchhiker doesn't seem to be any older than Sakurako herself. This would logically make him/her to be a kid as well, when Sakurako lost her cats (and her brother?).

The opposition is interesting: we'd have an autistic detective that dresses normally and a sociopathic rival from middle/high school that dresses like Sherlock (deerstalker hat and all).

To answer your question: they haven't shown the fiancé at all, which is precisely what makes it weird. My experience is that if a girl invest thát much time in another guy, be he a middle schooler, and her boyfriend doesn't care,.. sumting ain't right.

It wasn't anything dramatic, but it was definitely an interesting story.

So Sakaki was in love with his sister's caretaker. Sasaki's sister had the baby, and made her dump the stillborn body. Sasaki saw her dumping it, and thought it was hers and that 1. she had a child out of wedlock, and 2. She was actually his half sister, so nothing ever came out of it.

She ended up dying alone and then Sakaki took care of the bodies.

Also got a good bit of info on Sakurako.

She attended that same school back when it was a girls school, and that Sasaki was actually her Osteology mentor, and that she did in fact care about the cats.

I'm curious what she keeps talking to her uncle about in the hospital. She keeps saying she wants to dig deeper to find the truth about something and her uncle keeps telling her to be extremely careful. I hope she's not trying to find out the truth about the cats...that would be lame.

Whatever it is though, I'm sure it has to do with that mysterious guy in the trench coat who was tricking that dude to stay near the toxic painting with his baby and stuff. They show him in the OP so I assume he has more relevance. If I had to take a realistic guess though I'm assuming she's going to find out the truth about her brother's death, and that guy has something to do with it.

Her uncle. He was that famous detective that those cops all knew about in the earlier episodes. He's old, sick, and retired now.

I believe in like the first scene with her talking to him a couple of episode ago she addresses him as uncle. Say's something like "I'll be careful, uncle".

A very good episode!

The overall pacing did feel slow at times, but this intriguing arc was nicely wrapped up in the end. Coming from a household with 5 cats, it pains me to see the younger Sakurako holding both Radius and Ulna after they died from poisoning.

It would take some sick twisted person to do something like that, hence why I think the guy in the trench coat from the last 2-part arc could be connected to the cat's death in some way. =/

It was also good to see Shoutarou to contributed to the case with his own investigative skills and it thankfully paid off as well. It gave the lady some good closure, although seeing the lights flicker, then Shoutarou seeing her younger self caught me by surprise at first.

Sakurako's smile at the end was nice, but slightly creepy at the same time. You could mistaken her for a yandere to be honest. ^^'

The background story of Sasaki-sensei comes out to be a sad yet sweet tale, though the truth is revealed quite abruptly for sensei's sister to be the one giving birth to the dead child. I wonder if this story might have to do with the main plot, as Sakurako seems to investigate something. Probably related to the cat poisoning because there must be a culprit in doing such a cruel things to Ulna and Radius.

I don't think it was much of an coincident. They live in sparsely populated Hokkaido, can't be many high schools in the area. And probably only one that used to be all girls.
