THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

That was beautiful. I thought the theme song fit perfectly with above average animation quality. Yona's a bit childish though.

Soo-won is one bastard that I can't stand in this series. The adaptation proves that as well....sigh. I think it establishes the main story/premise well. From this point now, I expect Yona to get stronger rather than crying like a kid. Still, I feel bad for her now after what happened :/ Overall, solid episode and definitely looking forward to more.

OP music is beautiful. Chinese/Korean old kingdom like place? Selfish princess with her childhood friend and her beloved cousin, huh. She can get everything except weapon and beloved one, even though he somehow has some sort of feeling for her, too. But he killed the king and wanting her life, too.

So that's why they were on travel like it was shown in the beginning? ED is nice, too.

It wil explain in a couple of episode.

I can't wait fot the next episode. This is like the manga. Great opening. Always good to have intrusmental opening like 12 kingdomes. Yona will change a lot.

Loved the OP. Gave more old school vibes :3 And Yona looked beautiful in it <3

Good ep. I bet quite a lot of people will be hating on Yona right now XD Gotta admit she's pretty annoying right now. A pretty spoiled princess :3 But that's what makes me love her with how much development she gets later on.

Loving how they're keeping most of her monologue. Makes her character much less shallow ^^

The transition at the end felt a bit weird and fast though.

And is it just me or does the ED remind me of FMA:B's OP5 "Rain"?

Yes!!! Almost nothing was lost from the manga! It so much better than the manga!
Because the scenes of the Anime was more understandable than the manga!
And we even have additional scenes/details that was not in the manga.

The OP was great! and ED was just fine! I wish you did this to with Tokyo Ghoul!
Well I don't be bothered with that. Just keep this up good work PLEASE Pierrot Studio!

While there were definitely some "anime moments" of humor, I suppose those were to be expected no matter what. The episode as a whole tended to be pretty serious. Or at least, focused on the characters and their motivations. Which I appreciate. OP is great. ED is good.

Looking forward to the next episode- unlike my other choices for simulcasts. -_-

Well done first episode. There were a few cringe moments for me, but I'm definitely looking forward to this one. Should be a nice coming of age story, save for being a bit trite.

Yet another betrayal by the king brother's family!
I knew nothing good was coming with Soo-Yon with his back facing Yona and obviously making the situation worst.
Yona being a spoiled girl for now, but can't wait for the strength she showed in the beginning!
Hak saving Yona in time, probably with Soo-Yon dying! The setting seems to be my cup of tea!

Is it me or this episode is rushed? There are scenes that don't click, execution was off and the animation was done lazily. Yona is annoying too.

No wonder why it gives 'Fushigi Yuugi' vibes. It is handled by Pierrot, the very same studio that butchered the Tokyo Ghoul anime.

YES. I have a feeling this is going to be another 10/10 series.

This feeling is the same one i kind of got from Toradora but not as strong.

I think this is going to be a great anime. The usual princess super kawaii and pretty girl falls for the long haired sly fox faggot. Then he ends up betraying her and then when hes about to have her killed the main character jumps in to save the day! Hak! Yayyy. The childhood friend that she didn't really care about at all, whom she treats like a dog/slave. Now she only has him. Since her country and everyone else betrayed her. Oh man this is going to be so good. I love this Toradora kind of stuff, it makes me feel all good inside when Hak comes to save the day. Woohoo! Slowly and slowly the tsundere-ish heroine will slowly take liking to the MC Hak. Can't wait for the next episode. I feel like this will probably be the best series of this season.

5/5 for this episode definitely. ^_^

Yes It might be rushed since something was been skipped it started where when Min-Soo was giving a water to Son, Hak and it ended when Yona was lying on the ground. I mean something between that scene was missing.

But all In all it wasn't so rushed like they did on Tokyo Ghoul because It was just the same in the manga. Actually the Anime was better than the manga.

Well that was kinda stupid of him. Soo-won could have had it all, since he already knew Yona's feelings. All he had to do, would have been to either persuade the king or poison him or something. That way, he could still play the good-guy act right up to the end, and even still have Hak fooled to work for him. But he decided to go the bloody route by stabbing the king, and attempting to kill Yona, all of which makes Hak an enemy (whom has already clearly demonstrated superior skills, like archery). Can't say Soo-won is the sharpest tool in the shed. He's going to get wrecked by Hak and Yona in the end--I can feel it.

Yet another surprise this season. I wasn't expecting anything really from this show, yet it pulled me in pretty well. I had a feeling that Soo-won was bad news ever since he showed up in that darkened room that Yona ran into away from the suspicious person, or whatever. Turns out he was! Kind of cliche but it's all right. I'm interested for the next episode.

More anime should do this : choose a good soundtrack as the OP rather than a generic jpop song.

This prologue episode was pretty well done. But it was odd that Hak appeared out of nowhere at the end, they better explain it next episode.

Yona is a bit annoying, but can't deny she's a damn beauty! Soo-Won is lucky that she loved him quite a lot.
Personally, I wished she'd pick Hak instead. This guy is badass!

Soo-Won killing Yona's dad wasn't much of a surprise. I sensed that evil vibe from him when he pulled Yona in the room and prevented her from screaming, even though it seemed like he did it for good.

Good start and that OP was awesome! ED song wasn't bad either.

Overall, I liked it. It wasn't bad, but I didn't find it to be amazing either. While the art was nice, I didn't really appreciate the comedy moments (like when the backgrounds change and Yona's facial features were exaggerated. They just didn't seem to fit in, imo). The premise is pretty cool, and it looks like there will be some great character development. I wasn't so crazy about the OP and ED, but the BGM was cool. It seems like this series could turn out to be very good, but it could also end up being kinda meh...guess we'll see, though

So this first episode was actually kind of terrible to me due to the direction, sound direction, and corny awkward plot. The execution was awful. Studio Pierott is starting to make to make me think that they just make poorly done anime

Despite all those criticisms I think I will stick around and keep watching because the other characters who appear later look pretty intriguing and like lots of fun. Also maybe the princess will be less of an annoying whiny brat after her journey begins

Also is it just me or did some of the bgm seem like it was in the wrong place? I actually really liked all of the music itself, but the placement was weird. Like who's doing the sound direction for this?
