Its true what people saying that girl are more look like boy nowdays.
Clothings now has jeans for girl, sneaker for girls, hoodies for girls etc.

I am only using Kobato as example because anyone can tell that she is a girl, not some tomboy.

No.

1: That isn't cute at all, I don't see how that can be attractive on a girl.

2: From what girls tell me, jeans and shirts are alot more comfortable than dresses.

Tomboys are hot. I don't particularly like the way Kobato dresses. It's all a matter of preference.

fasion is always changing
a t-shirt and jeans are what's current right now.

besides, if you can't tell apart a girl from a guy than either you need glasses or the girl needs to get some makeover =/

Or the girl just really likes confusing people. :3

@topic: Ahaha.

Girls in anime =/= Girls irl

Thought this was obvious.

I'm just glad girls haven't mastered the level of fail that is the male notion of wearing pants damned near off and underwear showing in a like fashion of undesirable looking.

What worthless freak started that idea anyway?
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

I'm not really one for wearing jeans & a t-shirt all the time, but Kobato's particular style of dress, while cute on her in the realm of anime, would look nothing more than twee irl.

What works in anime doesn't always work in real life. Hell, I'm glad guys don't look like half the guys in anime - then we'd never be able to tell if a lot of them were male or female.

Basically, long dresses with lots of ribbons and frills are impractical for many everyday things. Like cycling, for instance. And, really, why would you dress up so much if you're just going to the grocery store, school, etc.?

While I dislike jeans, I think frills and stuff are a pain. It's harder to keep the clothes clean and tidy (lacy stuff is easily damaged) and also don't believe it looks particularly good, anyway. Maybe in some very select cases, but overall I'd rather unisex clothing than super girly gothic type frills and lace and similar things. Simple skirts and sundresses without all the frills are fine, though.

Also, I don't think this strictly belongs in AD since it's about fashion, and not anime... unless you want to add more gothloli type fashioned girls to the poll, and make the title more ambiguous.

Indeed.

Revy from Black Lagoon, wearing a dress with frills and laces would be bad news.
Though she does wear those daisy duke shorts and tank top.

Yeah, but the thread is about fashion, not about Kobato, Kobato is just an example. Thus the conundrum. If the OP wants to edit the title/poll to make it less specific, and just stick to general anime, it can stay here. If he wants to make it about real fashion it can go to GD, if it really is about Kobato it can go there.

Completely agree. Who the hell are we to tell them how to dress. Yes we all have our personal preferences on what we'd like them to wear, but that doesn't mean they have to nor do we have the right to tell them to. I don't have an girl friends that wear dresses like kobato, so I can't really see that I prefer that style since I've never seen it in real life. Well I have seen it, but they weren't my friends so I couldn't really look at them long enough without being thought of as a creepy stalker.

1. Because the world of CLAMP is obviously not the same as real life. CLAMP characters in general have very cute fashion styles, but in reality there's really nowhere that you can get such cute clothes from. If you happen to find a place in North America that does not sell a single dress of that style for over $100 (that's the standard price of cosplay or lolita fashion), let me know.

2. As stated above, it's impractical and impossible for a girl to fill her wardrobe with frilly dresses and the like. At over $100 per dress and most teens earning minimum wage, the only solution is if YOU find a girl who longs to dress like that and YOU PAY for her entire wardrobe.

3. Realize that the anime world is just a world of fantasy. It's horribly impractical for a girl these days to wear a dress and keep such looooong hair (I suppose you like feminine traits, like frilly dresses and long hair). Girls have to walk/bus/cycle to school, go to PE class, work, chase buses, etc. They have the right to feel comfortable at all times. Why don't you try wearing a dress and going on with your daily activities?

Wearing jeans and jackets doesn't always make you a tomboy.

I also don't like to see lots of girls wear miniskirts when in fistfights. To show their panties perhaps?

though since Revy is an anime character, they could somehow make her look HOT with a dress on. She'd put it on and it'd be some huge revelation and she'd instantly become a super tsundere or some shit.

I vote "No" assuming that this "Kobato" you're talking about is the girl from...*peeks at character page again* Clannad.

...it sure would be awesome if women dressed like Kekko Kamen, though. Minus the kamen, of course.

it's like females who think they look good walking around the the street looking like a 2-bit hooker, not that i got i got a problem with, though it don't look attractive if you're trying attract a mate with that type of outfit..

what's worse females who dress like this tend to dress their kids in the same fashion mistakes they wear.. nit a pleasant sight to see..

some girls look better in jeans or slacks, some look better in a dress, some can pull off the goth look and some can't.. that's life... this also shows in anime..

I thought so too. I kinda thought this while i was watching didnt know there was other people that agreed. i think alot of girls would look nicer wearing more modest clothes like kobato.oh and those clothes are expensive that would explain alot - like why girls with jeans with holes in them or tops with arms missing or too small skirts. Its cheap cas they save on the fabric i guess.

But dont you find it strange, that while given a freedom of choice on what to wear, they chose to copy mens wardrobe?
Makes one wonder, if men begang to wear dresses would that be enough to turn there current fashion in to another direction?

BAWW WHY DON'T GIRLS DRESS STEREOTYPICALLY FEMININE ANYMORE BAWW.

We wear what we want to wear. Some girls do dress like Kobato. They dress like that because they enjoy it, not because some guy said it was hot. And girls who dress like "some tomboy" are not less of a girl because of it, thank you very much.

I could care less as I'll accept anything within the expected. I just wanted to point out that a small portion of the posts within this thread are from those who seem to be ashamed of how they dressed from how they worded their post.

Dress up as Kobato if you want as anime fan girls already vandalized the traditional portion of the Japanese realm with the kimono wearing bit. If girls can wear Naruto outfits where ever they go then I don't see whats wrong with an innocent Kobato dress. Oh, and theres an American idol video of what I said also to prove my point. What you gals are saying isn't supporting what I'm seeing :(. Maybe go restraint those abusing the good aspects of Anime and fashion?
