Well, so the first arc ends. It was pretty good I'd have to say, but I didn't really care that much about the case.

I had a feeling that the culprit was him. His actions looked quite fishy all along. Poor Sakuragi senpai. Wish we saw more of her.

As expected, it was the club advisor.

Wait, so there's no conclusion to the dude and his ghost writer? I thought they were going to expose him at least since the camera guy recorded a scene between the two...

Yeah, I was wondering what happened to that subplot, too!

So... He buried the corpse in the wall and didn't bother to cover the hole with concrete or plaster? Sure, pasting a poster is the best way to hide the 'skeletons in your wall'. What if a random student or cleaner decided to clean up the room. And the poster showed the picture of the 'young mystery novelist' which means that when the girl (senpai) died, he (kouhai) was already famous? Or the teacher just changed the posters. And the biggest of all, I don't think a poster would have been able to cover up the stench of a dead body.

The manga kinda "resolves" it though, maybe since they tried to make it 3-eisode long they cut the conclusion

Another plothole I guess, since in the manga the body was reopened due to earthqake that happened, but oh well

Lol. Why didn't he fix the hole in the wall instead of just putting a poster in front of it?
When someone tries to replace or remove that poster, he would have found that skeleton..

Edit: Just read the comment regarding the manga and the earthquake. Yeah, one could guess that something happened, but not what.

But I wonder why Sakuragi called all her clubmates first instead of the police. If I found a skeleton in a wall I would call the police first. Could have saved her life.

Oh, and did they mix up -kun and -chan? Miyuki says Hajime-chan. The sensei said Aoyama-kun.
Wasn't -kun for male and -chan for female persons?

Hmm, while I'm not too happy with how the case itself turned out to be, I really liked the confrontation; I think that was very well done. Best episode so far, I suppose.

Why would he cover the hole on the wall that contained the skeletons with just a poster lmao.

Felt like the explanation being this detailed is too convenient and felt like the length wasn't justifiable by how many useless things that happened

A decent 'Haunted School' type of case that the anime adaptation did not really do justice: it glossed over many subplots such as the earthquake (which made the poster twist less silly), the emotional interaction between Kindaichi and Miyuki, and finally even the 'ghost writer' one - that is never resolved here, which is odd. Why wrting it in the first place? it is not like not adapting it would have been detrimental to the case: that suspect was already a prick to begin with.

The whole arc felt rushed as the result: for instance, the seven mysteries narrative was not properly fleshed out. The premise is very interesting in and of itself - in spite of being a 'recurring theme' in 'teenage detective shows', but the execution of said premise left quite a lot to be desired: it seemed very 'gimmicky' by the end. It gave me the impression that the writer had a decent idea at the start, but never really knew how to properly dwell upon it once the trick and the list of suspects were established.

Which is quite a shame since the main trick is neat: not 'groundbreaking neat' - I would not argue that it has been done to death, but it for sure has been done - still well 'thought-out neat' though. Certainly not as effective as it could have been in a proper and especially longer adaptation of this manga case.

Ok, that mirror trick was neat. Kinda expected it would be the physics teacher. Overall case, it was good, nothing amazing but still good.

Dayum, predictable but brutal. I like where this is going.
