| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- after waiting for like 4 months for this to come out, i have to say it was a boring episode, a lot of boring development, but yeah, that is just me since i understand like half of what they said anyway (going to edit when SS release their subs), at least i wanted to see rena's transformation on this episode at least but they let me hanging :(. at least m-9 kicking butt releaved this episode of being completely boring. Well, now is to wait 3 or 4 more months to see the finally :( , sigh.... |

| @felo you understand at least half of it XD, for me its 1/4 ^^ not many happens except the fight in the end. At first i think rena will ends up with john, but maybe it will change because of the appear of shiro. but a lot of fanservice through, especially in the rena scene^^ |

| This was a very interesting episode. So Mai-Otome suddenly became a sequel to Mai-HiME, or something similar to that at least I guess. I want more information on HiME's being the ancestors to Otomes and slaves. I mean, even if it's like that the characters from Mai-HiME can still not be the "same" ones that appear in Otome, as they would be rather old. But we had that picture of Akane in the book... Perhaps they were reborn or something. |

| I've alway thought that Mai-HiME was part of the distant past of Mai-Otome. With Mai-HiME taking place on Earth and Mai-Otome on a colonized planet some millennia afterwards. And certain things like names where changed over that time period, along with other things lost during the migration and the wars. I think Miyu's flash back to Alyssa and Miyu visiting that underwater computer system (or whatever it was) that looked remarkably similar to the school in Mai-HiME cemented the connection in my mind. I'm a bit fuzzy on it since it's be over a year or 2 since I've seen Mai-HiME or Otome, hard to keep these things straight. Has it always been generally accepted as an alternate universe? I always just assumed it was the standard dormant genetic traits resurfacing mumbo jumbo that they like to use so they can bring back favorite characters in situations like these. IMO it takes alot of things from hime but it doesnt have any relevence whatsoever to hime. then again, where nina-chan found the lost gem on z-wei,it looks alot like the place people make their wish in the festival on hime |

| Great episode! I love the Mai-Franchise. Not as good as the first episode, but the story progressed well. I hoped for Azure Sky Spahire Action too, but it was pretty clear that they would spare this until episode 3. Maybe we could assume that Arika will be the daugther of Shiro and Rena. Yay for appearances of Miyu and Reito. Miyu is so awesome. But it seems that she is not as mighty as M-9 in this case. But it was pretty weird that the other Columns looked a lot like Nina, Nao and Chie. Though I don't think there is any deeper meaning. They had nice otome outfits and weapons, though. Hope we will see them fighting and transforming in ep 3 (wouldn't count on the latter). It would make sense a little bit. But because of the above mentioned sunken school and moreover the moon besides the Hime/Otome star, I think it's still the same planet. But the reasoning of Otome being the future of Hime sounds a bit like fanservice or a little gimmick to me. I don't think we should think too much about it. I doubt we will get a real explanation in ep 3. Maybe they will decide to weave a more obvious bridge in the upcoming 3rd big series. -------- Too bad we have to wait a long time, again. I doubt I will remember much about this episode in 4-5 months. :/ I shouldn't have watched this without everything available. ^^" |

| You guys are probably right and it is Earth, just some thing in my hazy memory caused me to catalogue it as another planet. I should probably rewatch both series so I can get this stuff straight. It could also be a setup similar to Eureka 7, Forever said: I don't remember well, but Nina must be the daughter of Bruce and Sifr, right? I don't remember too much about Nina's past either, I think Sifr most likely, but I'm not sure about Bruce. I know in Japan you can marry your cousin(not that it happens frequently). But is it social acceptable for an uncle to marry his niece? Somehow I don't think so. But who knows, this show does embrace yuri, they could try and shock you by taking it in an entirely different direction. Now back to the Nina cat, perhaps it's related to the Mt. Nekogami cats and has some mystic power to transform into human form or perform a miraculous conception on Sifr, j/k. When you mentioned the other columns looking like previous characters. There's also similarities with Erstin and Elliot. Both blond, both had to betray their friend because of their allegiance to an organization, I'm sure there are more I can't remember. They really like to reincarnate characters in this series. The Mai series has never been too big on clearly explaining certain relationships between things, that's part of the fun of watching it for me. Trying to figure out how the pieces fit together. |

| Hmmm so there's actually a relation between HIME and OTOME... Well I imagined that at the beginning of OTOME but I kind of forgot it as time passed, but now it's just certain. I'm like some of you, I don't remember exactly the details about the heroines' parents in Mai OTOME but I guess that we saw Arika's father in this episode (the biologist, right?) and I also think that Bruce is Nina's father from what I remember. As for the other characters, it's not too clear in my head, I watched all these series only once and years ago on top of that... Still this new OVA seems far better than Mai OTOME Zwei to me, with less fan service, a better plot, hopefully it will also explain how HIME and OTOME are related. |

| If Bruce is Sifr's uncle, and if Sunrise won't make MO into an incest series, I guess Nina is Sifr's daughter from some other man while Mashiro is Bruce's from other woman (or vice versa). |

What's the point of watching it and spoiling the episode, if you are only going to understand half of what's going on? ;-) That aside, I actually liked this episode a lot, and thought it was actually better than the first episode. Lot of what I thought were interesting developments (like Arika's father?) and some good fighting with M9. at least i wanted to see rena's transformation on this episode I guess they are holding off on that as the big pay-off for the last episode. As long as they do it good, I can wait. Well, now is to wait 3 or 4 more months to see the finally :( , sigh.... That I whole-heartedly agree with. These long waits for OVA releases suck. I'm sorry that the next episode will be the last, too, as I am enjoying this series more than Zwei and I hate to see it end so soon. |

| This is random, but Reito and Rena have Erika, so how does Rena and Reito come together? Since right now Rena is like what 15-20 and he's like 10. O_O; I want to see that happen. But I'm a girl who's into that romance/love mumbo-jumbo. hehe... |

| I did not expect to hear Nagi's voice on the ship....what's going on here? Not sure why people are speculating about Reito being Arika's father, I don't think there were any hints to this whatsoever, though I guess it's possible 10 years from now or something. Maybe it was in the manga. Now Shiro is the obvious candidate. |
