I kept an eye on this VN a few years ago, didn't really check much on it since but always curious.

Even as this airs in Spring, it gives off more of a Summer vibe with the setting. Studio feel and they did seem to make the characters look delicate. Takahara meets some characters in this opening episode but Takahara is the one that is the most mysterious. Takahara himself seems like a laid-back guy. The setting is away from the big cities so it fits really well for slice of life imo. 2-cour adaptation confirmed, plenty of story to tell.

Really, can’t be a Key adaptation if you don’t have the main guy trying to settle in at a completely different place altogether lmaooo, for reasons solely made to work the story. Now yeah, this may be quite younger to all those Key works we may have watched, but yeah, you can see the obvious reflection from the previous works. You’re going to have a ton of girls meeting the guy completely and utterly out of nowhere and yeah then the nonchalant conversation following up… seriously the guy saw a girl HALF-NAKED dripping in water and just went to talk to her…

… just like that lmaooo. Shiroha should’ve told off the guy, but hey, it doesn’t work that way. You see, the guy will keep meeting the girls… pressing their honkers, mistakenly, and yeah, we’ll proceed as is. Those who have played the VN can say how well actually the first episode went, though as for me, it’s just like any other introductory episode we’ve seen in the series made by Key. So yeah, same old. Looks decent enough visually, and yeah this has two cours as well. Will watch a bit more before coming to any sort of conclusion.

Well, if that wasn’t the most Key visual novel thing ever, then I don’t know what is lmao. It literally felt like I was reading the visual novel, except I didn’t have to click anything or make choices lol.

Seems like this will be a full adaptation too, considering it’s 26 episodes and each of the four heroines is getting her own arc. So nothing feels rushed, which is really nice to see. Also, production seems to be in a good place from what I’ve heard, it’s apparently pretty much wrapped up already, so yeah, I’m expecting big things from this one.

Not a bad start at all either. Super visual novel-y, but that’s totally what I was expecting xD

The adaptation of yet another Key and Jun Maeda (concept) work in almost 5 years since the disastrous showing of P.A. Works's Fall 2020 show of Kamisama ni Natta Hi a.k.a The Day I Became a God, the 13th game in the series finally gets studio Feel going back into VN adaptations once again, since the trepidatious adaptation of the grandfather of all VNs: Spring-Summer 2019's Kono Yo no Hate de Koi wo Utau Shoujo YU-NO a.k.a YU-NO: A Girl Who Chants Love at the Bound of This World.

MC Hairi Takahara making his entrance into the island of Torishirojima for the first (but nostalgic) time, barring the recent death of his grandmother and being taken care of by his aunt Kyouko Misaki, leaving behind a treasure trove of stuff to clear. And Takahara going down the hill to have dinner instead, if the eccentric meal isn't noteworthy enough, then it's the scooter drive up to the elementary school and finding Shiroha Naruse practicing her swimming skills in the school's pool. Takahara being hopelessly lost for Shiroha to help him redirect back home, though his worries soon become an annoyance for her.

Takahara's relative Umi Kato accompanying him and playing rock-paper-scissors to fill in the house duties, it's all fun until he lets her win a match to let her off. And Kyouko not needing the help for the shed, asks Takahara to enjoy the island a bit more, though he finds the sleeping girl of Ao Sorakado thinking that he's sexually assulting her in her sleep. At least alongside her pet Inari, she's kind of intriguing being able to somehow tell time, and the Summer life on the small island is always eventful, like when he is dealt the shirtless hunt from Ryoichi Mitani having to fend off a water gun with Miki Nomura.

The memories of Takahara's past (though there's one reference to the good ol' trashy rom-com manga of Ichigo 100%) and going back to the same school pool to find Shiroha struggling with her swimming, he might be there to help her with her swimming, but what's the connection?

Konomi Suzuki back with the main theme songs from the VN, as is her OP "Aikatale" is such a treat to finally see it in anime form.

This rather long 2-cour, 26-episode series, I hope it's a decent adaptation given the extended time.

Another seasonal where I’ve had the source material at home collecting dust for years πŸ˜‚ got Summer Pockets VN on steam during a sale a few years ago and ain’t touched it so I’m coming in blind. Has that nostalgic early 2000s vibe we’ve come to expect from a KEY VN and the first episode does a good job of setting the tone for the story and making me curious about what really brought Hairi to this island.

Seems like we’re gonna get a story of self discovery and improvement and some romance. There’s obviously more to Hairi moving to this island than he’s letting on, when he opened up that swim club photo it brought back some memories he doesn’t wanna talk about, but what πŸ€” they introduced the girls with this mysterious air that makes you want to learn more about them as well. It’s Maeda Jun so you know we’re gonna be crying by the end lmao.

Can already tell Shiroha is gonna win just because she and the MC have this bond with swimming lol. First girl tax. But yea this was a solid set up, challenge with VN adaptations is always balancing worldbuilding with pacing that’s conducive in a tv anime. Let’s see what they cook.

The summary gave me the impression of something from the early 2000 and now it feels even more like an anime from the early 2000 which isn't a bad thing.
I also noticed no smart or cell phones meaning the setting could be the 90's but as mentioned the style of the anime reminds me of something from the 2000's.
Anyway it has a slow pace and it didn't really give time to give a good impression of the characters.
I do wonnder if the white haired girls was swimming in her underwear the first time tho.

Eh, the scene made it look like Hairi was touching the area just underneath her chest, not right on her boob, which thank God they didn't have him do.

Hairi arrives on the island after his aunt Kyouka invites him to help clean out a shed filled with things his late grandma collected while she was alive.

It seems he was a swimmer on the mainland—wonder what his background is, especially since one of the girls, Shiroha, seems interested in swimming herself. By the way, bro’s a "wounded bird of passage."

Umi’s just a cute little thing. And there are strange creatures roaming the island. My dude almost got physical with Ao, and he seriously asked if he can be aggressive eventually, lol.

Looks interesting so far, and it has its fair share of funny moments as well.

@Manor2003 Not really, it's a very classic Key story, so quite in line with the likes of Clannad, Little Busters, Kanon, Air etc.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Backgrounds are good. Character animation is mediocre. Character design is uninspired and standard. Story moves well.

Lighthouse girl is looking for something. What?

Swim student girl is shy, awkward, and net yet a good swimmer.

Girl with blue fox? (WTH is that thing) takes naps seriously.

Little cousin is way cute.

Looks to be a pick one harem but no harem tag yet, and no romance tag. Or maybe just friend with all the FMCs?

Hijab, I've just been in this place before!

This has both the essence of summer and the DNA of Key all over it, and I couldn't be more excited to experience the signature mix of lighthearted fluff and emotional trauma all over again.

@Sheol01 I saw bottoms and shoulder straps for a top. Both pale white. Could have been a bikini or underwear. The straps did look more like bra straps than bikini straps.

oh god they made Umi's animation so cute that alone tells me this will be at least a decent adaptation. The fact this is only about half way through the games rather short prologue also fairs well for the pacing, as long as we keep with this quality of pacing and faithfulness to the VN this will be anime of the year by a long shot for me

It's a slice of life anime. I was hoping this anime was in the vein of Summertime Rendering, but it is not. It's just a slice of life anime where girls are trying to find themselves along with the assistance of the protagonist. I will give it another shot, but so far I'm underwhelmed.

I suppose I was one of the few who loved The Day I Became a God so I will give this a chance . The mc is the typically generic type, why do they all have the exact same boring personality in harem type shows like this appears to be? And all those attractive girls swanning round without any other seeming male interest that is far from realistic in my experience. Still, it is certainly nice and relaxing to watch so let's see how it goes.

This is really like you play the visual novel, they use all from that source likes music, transition, etc. Most takahara Hairi Dialogue is from Choice dialogue in VN. I will score 8 because they really catch intro from vn, even you didn't play the VN you can still get what they want to mention from EPs.
Well the animation is decent but atleast we get 26eps
