Welp, the cheerleading team got a lot of requests and this ended up being a very busy season for them.

I'm happy for them but at the same time, that's going to take a lot of time and management to fufill those requests. Realistically, this could happen in any workplace but luckily, Anna and hsr team all have support for each other. Good of them, I want to see them succeed more.

I'm so proud of our girls. They have gotten quite popular. Everyone wants to get cheered by them.

However, the amount of requests they have gotten lately is even a little too much. A lot of people feel disappointed because the girls have had no choice but to say no for being simply too busy. Hopefully they find a way to make everyone happy.

Also, poor Megumi :( I feel bad for her.

I’m so proud of my babies for becoming such a big deal around town!! But this is not how it was supposed to go at all. It’s funny you can work your whole life to accomplish a goal, get it and then it’s nothing at all like you envisioned.

From struggling to come up with cheer concepts to being on top of the cheer request world. The requests were overwhelming and the decision to not take on all of them was a smart one. You just can’t do everything unfortunately this is really just common sense.

Actors, singers etc have to turn down gigs because they need time for themselves too so idk why Kanata would go behind the group’s back and do these requests anyway, it makes it seem like the whole group is half assing things. I don’t blame Anna at all for snapping on her at the end

But I kinda feel like Megu is behind some of the nasty comments, at least the one about Kanata not being able to fly. She didn’t react at all to the situation and the way the camera cut before that scene makes it look that way.. would not be an idol series if we didn’t have the group on the verge of collapse, but we know they’ll bounce back better than ever.

The other comments on the channel were fake fans anyway I wouldn’t worry about them. You’re always gonna get haters as you grow as a content creator, part of the job

Aaaaaaand here it is, the unnecessary drama arc. Such a good anime so far, these kind of stories seem like they need to have a compulsory downer ep or 2. My fault for being too old I guess, teens need some tension in life. I don’t. Hope it all sorts itself out soon!

I didn't expect Kanata to go apologize and cheer for everyone they turned down by herself, that's dedication. But yeah probably not the best idea to do it behind everyone's back.

There's nothing unnecessary about this new development. Drama has always been present in this series so what's the problem with the girls having an argument about how they should cheer on people?

I know, it was just so positive lately that I was a bit saddened by the falling out. It is unnecessary though from the POV of an experienced adult capable of talking problems out, but I’m not target demographic so I don’t mind, and as I said I’m sure the last few episodes will pay off with something great.

I'm happy they didn't just let Kanata do whatever she wanted without question. She didn't want to understand the reasonable reality that as a group they can't help every single request that comes their way.
I hope the resolution for this doesn't end up being some mickey mouse bullshit like "actually we CAN help everyone!"

Oh boy they got overwhelmed with so many cheers requests.

Alright, is that the red hair girl on the club that saying that flying stuff about Kanata on Twitter?

But come on, Kanata is doing the most right now.

So it was Megu that started that social media drama? Jeez, I hope they have a good heart to heart at some stage lol. Crappy circumstances, depressed and envious nature, can definitely lead to some shit that you'll regret later on.

I see nothing wrong with apologizing in person either, I couldn't care less if my teammate did that behind my back personally lol...

In my opinion, Kanata is the one most at fault. Yes, but it's something I can understand. I don't think what she did was out of selfishness; rather, it was out of guilt, and that's partly why I can't be totally angry with her after everything she's been through. She wanted to fulfill the wishes of others just as she herself had experienced, but unfortunately, people can be cruel. Although, to be fair, some of the requests were quite foolish.

From my perspective, what Anna did a few episodes back to keep the shop from closing was more selfish than what Kanata did. It's understandable because it's a place that helped her during her childhood, but there were aspects that a 16-year-old girl wouldn't understand (like economic and financial issues). In the end, it worked out for her. This is just my opinion, but for the reasons mentioned above, I was frustrated with how Anna behaved in the end. I have to agree that what she did didn’t harm the group, but without the group, she wouldn’t have achieved it either (at least, not completely).

Now, regarding Megumi, and I say this as someone who has grown fond of her, I don't know if she made the comment, but if she did, it was a really bad move. Her frustration is understandable given her condition, as she feels she isn't contributing as much as the others due to her lack of mobility. But what was she hoping to achieve by making that comment, if it turns out it was her who did it?

Wow, this episode is going to kill me with the wait until next week.

While I'm glad that PomPom's popularity has sharply risen after their involvement with the baseball match in the previous episode, it did showcase how overwhelming and pressurising it can be to keep up with the huge amount of new requests that they got as a result. Some requests were rather pointless, so it was right to trim it down to the more genuine and well meaning requests for the group to do.

However, this is where the drama started to kick in and Kanata played a sizable role in it. I can't blame her for feeling rather guilty for not being able to accept every request, so she ended up doing solo runs to those people who were refused just to make it up to them, but doing this without telling anyone in the group about it would come back to bite her as Anna rightly confronted her about this.

What doesn't help the group either was the increasing amount of negative messages on social media about them. Some of those message are something you're going to get regardless due to the group's increasing popularity, but other messages were more personal and insulting than was needed. One particular message questioning Kanata's ability to fly was really uncalled for, although it's unclear who was the person who posted this message. That's where the spotlight falls on Megumi. Her increasing frustration of her slow recovery meant that she ended up lashing her anger at Kanata, which has contributed to making this issue worse, as well as putting a strain on their close friendship. I do hope that she isn't the one who sent that message on social media, but seeing her constantly looking away and keeping quiet only raises suspicion on her.

The next episode can't come soon enough. Although it will be tough on everyone, I do have hope that they can patch things up and get their mindset in order to put an end to this drama once and for all.

It is really cute the girls cheering all these people on but sad to see them get so under pressure. Poor Megu being in her shitty situation and Kanata was so sweet for trying to not leave anyone behind. They just need more members or group people up to cheer for them categorically.

Nodoka made it to front page news...though that doesn't sully her reputation, aside from PoMPoM's small, but significant marketing on the small screen.

A flood of requests makes PoMPoMs stand out for their cheer, be it for the mundane small things or the significant big things, even the likes of an actual interview. As the episode title goes, it's a really busy Summer for the girls engaging in all sorts of activites, most of which are the small things that can be easy to turn down, but "divide and conquer" is the only way they can get lots of the miniscules done, something which Kanata couldn't let herself go because of the people that support them.

Needless to say, this isn't exactly cheerleading, and Kanata got her priorities all wrong, leaving Obunai to take care of the administration work, aside from Megumi being constrained to her body motion limits. But being the enthusiastic girl that she is despite overworking, Kanata goes the extra mile all while Megumi blames herself not doing anything, against her crippled circumstances. Naturally, the other girls noticed, and Kanata's work backfires against the very same community wanting their help, with one of the clear comments being very er, in her own selfish way.

Cheerleading isn't an individual sport, it's a team sport, and right now, PoMPoMs are fragmented for better or for worse.

I didn't expect this series to get quite so dramatic. Either at all or, if it did, not at least until the penultimate episode leading into the finale. Not at the two-thirds of the way through point.

Agreed. I found it in a way quite rude, closed-minded, and downright hypocritical on Anna's part, considering her recent past behavior where not only was the cause she (understandably) broke off from the group and initially isolated to try and fight and tackle herself a more self-interested one (not saying that as a bad thing; it's just a fact), but in practice her way of going about doing it was also a lot more standoffish and confrontational, basically attempting to push other members of the group like Suzuha away telling them it was none of their business, until they essentially all teamed up in unison to exert some positive pressure on her to force her to open up, let them in, and allow them to try and help her.

Kanata, by contrast, had what at least she perceived as a completely selfless, altruistic desire in mind - to help others as she had similarly been helped in the past. And the way she went about doing it was basically trying not to bother anyone and cause as minimal disruption to the others' schedules after they said they were overworked, or their followers' and fans' hopes and expectations as possible, trying to handle it all on her own and use up her own time and energy if the others were not able to. Keep in mind that she also has a psychological medical condition (yips). Arguably not as serious and grave as Megumi's, but that's a separate matter. Sure, it was unrealistic in the long run for her to keep up by herself balanced with her activities with the whole group, school, sleep, and everything else. And it can be called foolhardy. But it was certainly not malicious and can also be called selfless and idealistic.

Also, not at any point did she ever attack or insult any of the other girls for feeling like they needed a break or to turn down some requests. She just took on the extra burden in secret and in silence. So her being attacked at the end feels extra undeserved. Although, in fairness, it was mainly just Anna. All of the other girls - even the stoic and stern Suzuha who could be confused as cold or unempathetic (even if we know it's not the case due to seeing her internal PoV in the earlier episodes) - were surprisingly chill, understanding, and willing to wait and hear her out.

Although, on the other hand, I have to say, that it actually makes Anna a more interesting character. Because when she was first introduced - especially in the very first episode - she very much gave off the impression of someone who was the ever-genki, bubbly, vibrant, loud, cheery, and overly-friendly girl who gave hugs, wanted to talk to and make friends with everyone, and knew no Japanese social boundaries. Sometimes that's okay, but characters like that can also get annoying and old hat if they're too one-note depending on the individual specific character in question, the show, and how it's all executed. Didn't expect a character like her to get extra dimensional depth within a few episodes in a cheerleading Slice of Life.

Edit: Actually, I do have one criticism of something Kanata did this episode. Not her clandestine solo cheerleading adventures. That was maybe naive and not well-planned out, but well-intentioned, coming from a very pure and hopeful place, and beautiful to see her try and do whatever she could. No, the criticism is of her running out on Megumi during their spat when Megumi yelled in frustration that she couldn't even be there to enjoy their middle school championship victory as she was stuck laying in a hospital bed. If she wants to be there for a friend, she needs to allow her to express negative emotions without running away from them. Sick people especially have a lot of suffering to deal with and that was obviously coming from a place of a profound sense of frustration and loss on Megumi's part for missing out on a piece of the days with her team, her school days, and her youth. All due to illness. People in that situation cannot just pretend it's all sunshine and roses all the time or be expected to bottle it all up internally. But I feel like Kanata is herself in a fragile psychological state where she can't really deal with that. She wants to see everyone happy around her and if they're not, pretend they are, or she feels like she herself will unravel.

This and the previous episodes are where this show has started getting interesting.

They got immediate success but it's bad that they had a hard time turning down people. It's frustrating. They charge money, right? I know this started as a passion project but have some self-respect. You're in demand. Limit your clients and charge a hefty sum. Quality over quantity.

About this anime, I confess that only watching it for the Brazilian character, Ana, but I stretched it as far as I could stand it, and I lost interest, it became boring and tedious for me, and Ana, my favorite character, didn't save it for me. Good luck to anyone who continues watching, because I dropped it here!

Kanata-chan didn't want to disappoint the people who wanted to see them, so she caused more trouble, I think it has to do with Shion too.
