Kaina is literally trying to survive, running from death. This episode was tense not only for highlighting the survival elements but also continously showing how life is like out in an unknown worl. Not sure how I feel about Yaona but having more allies in this show is more important than ever. And he seems to have a friendly personality. |

I really don't know how will they solve a sinking land problem, is it possible to live under the sea? Oh, how about living inside that big trees? The sea look strange anyway, it doesn't seem like an ocean, I don't know, could they just turn the seawater into a drinkable water? Desalination is a technical term. |

The irony of all these wars for water when the entire world is covered in snow and water lmao. The desalination process must have been lost to time. Kinda wild that the king willing to sacrifice his own daughter, but at the same time it is a logical, albeit cruel decision. Obviously Kaina and her brother won’t let that happen, really excited to see how they get her back and stop the war. |

Pretty sure the "snow" isn't made up of actual water but something of similar viscosity, so the desalination makes no sense if you won't get actual water out of it. My theory is that the trees have been successfully befallen by the parasites mentioned in episode two that produce the "snow" and they are the bad kind of parasites that suck their host dry, meaning they don't live in harmony with the orbital trees. And as confirmed in this episode, all of the individual trunks are interconnected, making it easy for such an aggressive parasite to spread, which is also why the snow sea has risen so much. |

This episode was definetly the worse one so far. It was so bad I dropped the show. black armored guys so stupid, mistakes they did is countless. And the actions of characters too. simply bad written episode visuals were also lacking, like seriously wtf is that "snow sea" is it bubbles, is it liquid is it really snow ? does make it characters wet ? cold ? no clue at all. also character expressions is key for anime, yet this anime has 2 ??? 1 mouth closed 1 mouth open ??? execution of this bad guy faction is so bad they simply should have removed them from the story. |

It felt like they skipped a bit too much at the end there. Obviously they climbed out of the window but the sudden switch to the spiral staircase made it feel disjointed. I wanted to at least see what that building looked like from the outside to show where it is in relation to Kaina's room. |

The Snow Sea of visual imagery is spectacular, but it's the battle between Valghia and Atland once again to save them both. With the both of them captured by the Valeigh, the pursuit of rescue is underway, but this is something that Kaina doesn't really understand what is going on. And whilst the fight animation in full 3DCG between Orinoga and Amelothée isn't the best, it's Ririha that they have to pursue negotiations. The remaining survivors under Orinoga have no choice but to escort Kaina back to Atland. Ririha's country of Atland truly looks like something out of a fantasy novel, but the pressing issue of Ririha being held hostage by the Valghians has to be done soon, but without the cost of losing people, and her father the King has to sacrifice her even if the situation gets tough. Even Kaina's origin from the Canopy isn't trusted, he could be a spy. Ririha's brother Prince Yaona is a handful, but he might be the key to helping save Ririha, because their enemy requires a source of water that countries like Ririha's have to drain them completely and make them suffer. And since their father only cares about the wellbeing of his own country, Yaona wants to save his sister without getting into much trouble and leads Kaina down a tunnel that leads to the Snow Sea. It's going to be tough to get out of this, just a hope that will be kept alive. |

It's too bad that Liliha got taken as hostage but at least Kaina and her brother will attempt a rescue. I liked Kaina's idea of offering to share the water that Atland has but unfortunately there doesn't appear to be enough to share and Atland's supply is running low. After whatever happens with Liliha and negotiations I wonder if they will seek out the cause of the water shortage because otherwise their outlook will be bleak. |

One thing I have theorized based on how both the factions look: The Black Armored faction, with their mobile country, may be responsible for the death of Kaina's people in Canopy. They use resources in a much more wasteful manner (compare the gear and transportation between White and Black), and they would need more resources for their "wars" compared to the other villages that are surviving on the surface through self-sufficiency. White also seems to live ON the tree, so cutting them down the land underneath their feet I could only see them doing unless it was done very carefully. The Black Armored faction could have cut down some of the Canopy Trees that housed some of the Canopy villages in their pursuit of war. White believes in the Sage (even if they are a bit skeptical), while Black comes off more as attributing it to an urban legend. |

Desalination is a technical term. Anyway pretty intrigued by this anime so far, despite the cgi. I doubt the fluid covering the planet is water. One of the easiest way to desalinate water is to boil it and trap it in filtering vessels, ancient Greeks and Romans knew about that method long time ago. Another method is based on a filter made of, among others, sand, and the world presented doesn't look to have a lot of easily available sand. There are plenty of low tech methods to desalinate, so I doubt civilisation in the anime would not realise it can be done. As to the "water", the surface doesn't look like a winter time sea, it looks and behaves more like a foam, in addition, the underwater scenes were far too clear for regular water. The city scene shows large water container with the water body shifing towards blue (lower left hand side): While the "underwater" scene showing roots had above surface visibility spanning for tens if not hundreds of metres. To give you a sense of scale, those red "sponges" are large, compare their size in the background, to the main duo and then how big the four finned fish are My theory is the substance in question is a by product of some process (maybe it's connected to the substance the bugs repair the canopy) used by the old civilisation before it degraded to the current stage. I feel sad this anime receives so low attention due to the CGI, it's not that bad, quite good if you were to ask me. The world building so far is stellar, especially when comparing it to the overabundant isekai that look like spitting image of each another... On the side note, it amuses me how Japanese love cats. "You know what this anime lacks? Cats! I hear you say the environment doesn't remind of our world? No worry! Let's slap cat ears on the helmet! Behold, the Nekomimi Lady Vader!:" Quick edit: I realised I heard servomotors during the fight and I assumed she had a mechanical arm, but only now I noticed the mechanism. I wonder whether it's a bionic arm or a partial exoskeleton. |

Great episode this week imo but it did feel a bit slower. Still enjoyed it though! I'm loving this series! It looks like Kaina is going on a bit of a trip to rescue the princess by going under the snow sea. Pretty sure they won't see that coming lol I also like how Kaina is just really different from everyone else at the snow sea level since he's never really been around this much people |

continuing from last episode's cliffhanger, the2 mains are running from the persuers, and they jumped into the sea of ice (what ice? lol) there they see the tree roots, together with those bug nests, almost looks like coral ... and some strange fishes/bugs/whatever thought they forgot they were in the water, but Ririha put his air thingy in his mouth, and while holding hands, they started to float back to the surface the fight between the guys on animals vs the guys on ships, it's a little unfair lmao the situation isn't looking good the 2 got caught by the bad guys, but as soon as Ririha woke up, she beat a few of her enemies in a flash, while Kaina is worried that her sudden attacks means she will get killed Kaina tried to help, but the leader girl finally decided to come down the soldiers wanted to kill her, but the leader wants to use her in a trade one of the good soldiers came on the ship and easily defeated multiple enemies, but leader girl is too strong, if nothing else because her amor is a lot more useful thanthe clothes the guy has a second good guy came but instantly got cut, weakling lol the girl went down to fight the guy again, she doesn't want to let him live, i thought she just wanted to catch the princess and leave with no chances of winning the fight vs the red haired woman, the 2 boys swam away, by Ririha order, Kaina shall meet with the king ... and hope that Ririha will be ok Kaina revealed the little dagger and the deathof its owner then together they went to Atland (wonder if it's based on Atlantis) , and people were worried about the number of soldiers that came back, as well as Kaina's clothes a scene with the king, and he says he can't give up the kingdom just to get Ririha back, rip Kaina giving them bugs, i don't think they eat the same things LOL Ririha's little brother running away from his studies, met with Kaina in his room, in a funny scene lmao (well, knowing Ririha has a brother, maybe that's a reason to not worry as much, if Ririha died, they would still have a prince left some talk about the water and the enemy country, which goes and steals water from other countries to survive the 2 guys feel like they need to save her, so they went down throught the hidden passage that only royal family knows about (but it's a problem if the 2nd prince is also captured lmao) well, i'm not a big fan of this anime, not gonna lie lol |

The Snow Sea is probably not actual water. It didn't look like proper water when Ririha and Kaina jumped in. If it is water, then the people who live there are dumb. lol The story got more interesting after the little brother came. He is cute, and the only person so far who has shown actual competence. Or, maybe, I just really love Murase Ayumu. I feel like I would like this anime a lot more if they let us have some moment of quiet to just appreciate the world, since the world is the most intriguing part here. Also, I wish they made the world look more interesting, artistically. |

I was disappointed at Kaina, I overestimated his prowess. To think he would lose so easily and his heroine got captured by their enemy. WTFluff!!! Well, that's to be expected, he is more like a knowledgeable adventurer than a fighter but he seriously needs to learn how to fight people or else... |
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it, is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service. |

If you’ve read his other work, like Knights of Sidonia, you would know he uses minimal facial expressions to be more realistic. And uses more intense versions of those emotions when it is necessary. None of the characters have had to deal with things that require more than the basic expressions that a human would typically show, and they have used those expressions. All this tells me is that you weren’t paying attention to their faces. You actually gave a reasonable response? That’s rare in this site. My counter argument is that context matters. They address that they took their eyes off them at the wrong moment. As well as the fact that they’re in the middle of the snow sea, which has proven to be way too dangerous to swim in without the proper gear that they dont have. It’s reasonable to assume they know this, and would think that they wouldn’t be crazy enough to try and jump in without the animals they ride on. Clearly they were wrong in assuming ririha wasn’t crazy. Even kaina had to be pushed off because he wasn’t doing so willingly. |

This anime has it's upsides and downside pointed out already by the community here. I don't mind illogical plotlines, to a point, it's anime sci-fi... What I'm so tired of, and this episode exploits so poorly is the tropey plot devices. For example, Why are all MCs stuttering fools at critical moments? Kaina has been hunting and surviving his whole young life, and that means killing. Yet when it matters, even after he has seen the murders of Ririhas people by obvious aggressors, when the girl he's clearly smitten with is about to be bludgeoned to death, he freezes and does nothing. He could have made a difference, and been more likeable through action, instead of twirling his thumbs while around him people are dieing. Then AFTER it's too late, he wants to go save her. Even when he meets the king he's all 'we must save her'. Well kid, if you had taken action like you are clearly capable of (saving her from bugs, on the climb, and leaping onto the floater) them maybe she would be at home. Yes, I get it, that's the plot, but far too often the mc is a complete sack o potatoes only when it suits the writers needs. Then suddenly, when convenient, he'll take action. That device in stories just makes the mc unlikeable and honestly, contemptible. It's almost as stupid a plot device as the 'mc is awkward around girl, but she's blushing and falling all over him'. Every time, the guy is a blushing virgin surrounded by hormonal hotties. How about some balance. Subtlety is not common is anime, and it should be. Give the readers and viewers some credit. Treat us as idiots, and you just lose credibility. /Rant. I'll keep watching, I love adventure and journeys of growth for the protagonists, and fantasy world building. But I just wish writers would be less eager to churn out pap for kids, when the audience is far more sophisticated and looking for more. Maybe I should write my own and quit complaining. Time is the enemy, don't let your chances and dreams slip by while you're pleasing others. He said, working 9 to 5 and eating off time watching anime...I see the irony believe me. |

A few of the users above are unaware of how jarring the prospect of people killing other people for Kaina is. He was raised in an environment where all the people were friendly; and where the only things they had to kill were bugs, either for meat or for defense. Ririha arriving to the tree didn't introduce anything new in relation to what Kaina is used to seeing killed, and he was only truly exposed to human-on-human violence when he was brought aboard the ship. Additionally, he was outnumbered and carrying inefficient weapons for a close combat scenario. It's likely he froze up at what he was witnessing, but he still briefly fought the Valghians barehanded, despite their equipment and numbers advantage. This anime is a learning experience for a young man who is continually being introduced to new people, biomes and environments.
