The S/J League finals: SunBev vs. Mitsuhoshi Bank, and the doubles matches of the "changing partners" Saeki brothers is normal after a subpar match.

But it's the singles match of Toru Usuyama of the East vs. Ibuki Sentaro of the West that grabs attention, and this match reinvigorates the spirit within Usuyama after his 7-year-gap ato play him 11 years later. Everything is as Usuyama remembered, but he cannot afford to lay back after a long stint and made a comeback with his intense plays, and so is Ibuki in staying relevant and playing modern to throw Usuyama off his boat both physically and mentally. Usuyama is only able to get this far because of the encouragement from his family and fellow colleagues, and win or lose, he has got it in the bag. It was nice to see Ibuki rescindle his experience with Usuyama, and "let's play again" is a terrific way to see how much Usuyama has accomplished. You've done well, Usuyama.

The deciding match of doubles Mikoto and Tatsuru vs. Takuma and Izumo, it all comes down to former partners to dictate who's the winner. ONE CHANCE, no room for error. Tatsuru still has his torn ligament as his handicap episodes ago, and this making things hard for both teams to eke out the winner for the 1st set of 3 given Takuma's aggresiveness both physically and psychologically.

But that's all about to change...when Mikoto suffers a serious accident on the court (and thus the set is won by Mitsuhoshi), that was unexpected. What will happen in the finale?

Unexpected! We are too focus on Tatsuru's knee, turns out Mikoto break his head first LOL. Very masterful on misdirection.

Only one episode left. But can I hope for a sequel?

The first match was funny. They showed these two guys like they'd be tough to defeat, but the next time we see them, they've already lost and are quarrelling!

Usuyama's match was interesting. His acting was great. Especially when he spoke while panting. For a moment I forgot I was watching something animated. And, his opponent, instead of being shown as a scary threat like in Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basuke, was shown as genuinely enjoying playing together.

I doubt Mikoto's match would be as interesting as Usuyama's.

The end was unexpected. I know Mikoto won't be badly hurt since that won't work in this genre, but I wanna know how bad it is. Bleeding from the head like that doesn't feel good. I can speak with experience!

This anime has a character played by Murase Ayumu and an ED sung by Mafumafu. Not sure why, but I find that interesting. lol

I'm surprised they showed actual blood. Seriously what are they going to do in the next episode?

Too much melodrama in this series for my liking, whether it be work or on the court, not enough focus on the actual badminton, which is severely lacking in it's own right.

I kind of doubt it, probably his nose or forehead, I would be shocked if the writer went for his eye lol

There's a good example in professional tennis which happened about 20 years ago (Paris 2000 Final), where a Russian player (Marat Safin) injured himself mid-match in a freak accident with his own racquet. Hit him around the eyebrow area and they had to have a delay due to the blood.

The applied some sort of gel and a quick fix patch up job, before he resumed play and ended up winning the match and the title. Immediately went to hospital afterwards to get it stitched up.

I think they will finish the match regardless in the final episode....

I am pleasantly surprised that the Saeki brothers won but it's funny that we didn't see a glimpse of the game. Usuyama did so well ;; He and Ibuki are amazing. I was already moved when he cried at the end but Futami also tearing up got me. It's cool to know that he will surely get even better next time.

Every time Takuma appears on frame, I think that he's petty haha. He's always picking a fight. I felt tired with Mikoto-Tatsuru seeing the match drag that long. Lastly, MIKOTOOOOOO

I knew that "Daddy" was coming a mile away, but that still had me choke up a little. That was a nice moment, shame my dude Usuyama lost, but great effort.

Jesus, that slip was brutal. Blonde dude annoys the fuck out of me though, just shut up and play man.

O K but takuma is so hot.......ehe

omg when usuyama cried at the end of his match. all his bottled up feelings and love & passion for badminton all these years. that was so touching! it was a great match, and his opponent had such great sportsmanship & respect for usuyama too.

wish we could have seen souta & touya's match too t-t

I was really shocked at the ending— I thought if we were going to get an injury it would be Miyazumi but it was Mikoto. I’m really antsy to see whats going to happen next aaaa

I had to laugh at the result of the Saeki brother's match. From showing their fearsome opponents before the OP plays. Afterwards, we see their opponents at each others throats as they got destroyed easily. XD

As for Usuyama, it was obvious that he wasn't going to win as that would've denied the other doubles match from happening and there's no way that'll happen. Despite his loss, Usuyama played his heart out on the court against Ibuki and his opponent had nothing but the upmost respect for Usuyama. It was a great match. =)

Then we got to the final match, between Mikoto and Tatsuru against Takuma and Izumo. Takuma might be a complete dick, but you can't deny how strong he is with his devious shots. Mikoto and Tatsuru do a great job during the 1st set, but they couldn't find a way to clinch the win and ended up dragging to 1st set into the 2-clear points requirement.

Sadly, Mikoto slipped on a tiny puddle of sweat and went head first into the net pole, injuring himself badly. The added effect of showing the shocked reactions from his mother, the team and Tatsuru in that order did well to capture how serious this unfortunate accident had become.

I can only hope Mikoto can recover enough and play on, if possible.

NGL for a second I actually thought they'd defy expectations and have Usuyama win with the family buff.

Oof Mikoto, straight up face planted into the pole. His mom's reaction hit really hard.

Time to sub in the coach so he can come clap these kids

The Saeki sure smashed their match, and Usuyama's intense match was a close win

Kirishima is a formidable foe, too bad Tatsuru can't do his signature smash shots anymore

Poor Mikoto, injuring himself like that could cause the rest of the match to be postponed, and its a shame they also lost that first set at the same time. Quite a blow to SunBev's team. I hope this doesn't mean the end of Mikoto's badminton career though, that's too painful of an outcome

Seriously? It's not beyond the realm of possibility that sweat on the court could lead to someone slipping and falling into one of the poles for the net, but I am surprised this is the route the writers decided to take. No time to show the Saeki brothers' match, we need extra time because Mikoto broke his face.

Not a suprise Usuyama would lose (otherwise Shiratori doesn't need to play) but he still put in some great effort against Ibuk. What was a suprise was Mikoto painfully hitting the pole at the end

Making the opponent as scummy and annoying as possible just for the audience to feel forced to root for the MCs is such a lame writing move. This show is really falling apart during this last third, huh?

S/J League finals begins. First doubles match was won by the Saeki siblings, and we didn't get to watch it. Singles match was intense. Usuyama gave his all against Ibuki. That was good to watch.

Tatsuru and Mikoto's match begins and that arrogant Kirishima drags the game. Mikoto injured himself at the last point.
