Not much happened in this episode. Just a flashback telling us about Morita's dad company, and why Morita's brother wants to get it back.
Also, whoa at the ending. Hope Hagu-chan is alright.

... I... I really think this episode was AMAZING.
I-it... it really made my eyes get a little wet. Not once in the series I had felt like it xD Ha, guess Yamada crying for ever isn't enough for me, but a flashback about Morita, Kaoru and his father... yes, it is.

W-w-waaah. I love those brothers even more. And his father too.
... but why did they say everything was about to change?
I don't get very much why Morita's business could affect everyone.
Or is it related to what happened to Hagu?... or what!?
I’m so anxious!

little morita is sooo cute!! hahaha. and his father's so outgoing too just like him! hahaha. but that tatsuo guy betrayed his best friend?!?!? JUST CAUSE HE WAS JEALOUS OR SOMETHING!?!? ugh!! so i guess that's what morita and his brother's doing.. trying to reclaim their father's company.. but didn't tsukasa say to not hold grudges and to move forward??? little morita agreed but kaoru didn't.. guess he can't since he understood how tatsuo felt.. anyway..

what was that last scene with glass and blood?!?!? WAS THAT HAGU?!?!?

I was getting a little worried about this season. Not that it wasn't good, but I wasn't feeling that tug of pure emotion I felt from the first. Until this episode anyway. This was definitely my favorite episode this season and why I love Honey and Clover. Give them an episode, hell give them five minutes and they will have you sympathizing with and completely falling in love with a character you've either never seen before, or was only mentioned once in passing.

And what the heck Hagu!? The ending surprised me, I hope it's nothing too bad.

This episode makes me appreciate even more just how GOOD the characterizations of everyone are I actually care about all of the characters, and know their motivations, lives, back stories. And it's not just like, "random backstory", it all fits together.

Such a good episode. But omg Hagu!?

That was such a deep, sad episode.
I love the bond between Morita and his father, as well as his brother. I also find it really amazing how they decided to bring back their father's company. I wonder what happened to him. And I'm also curious about their mother, nothing is said about her.

Wow.. Hagu... I wonder if that was an accident?

...and suddenly, in 20 short minutes, JC Staff have put my doubts about this series to rest. It's a different type of show: while the 1st series was about the laid-back days of college, this is a much more serious show. The ability to make us love a character who only appears in a single episode is more than proof of the fact that the quality level is far from fading yet.

Also, Hagu... :'-(

Best episode of the whole series.

They made us get to know, understand, like and lose a completely newly introduced character in one single episode. Those emotions of inferiority and envy Kaoru and Negishi felt were so heartbreaking.

The story about their dad's best friend is kinda sad. He musn't have any ill intention for the company and to his friend. The strong wind seems to hint of an upcoming storm. Are they finally gonna get their dad's company back? Everyone's lines at the end are kinda creepy. And what's with that scene where Hagu's hair was shown and there were broken pieces of glass and blood!?

I wonder what category I would fall into, the "haves" or the "have nots". It's really deep actually. What's the purpose of living for the worse category? Kind of sad.

Great episode.. I totally connected with the whole thing, and Morita's family has become so interesting. I love his dad, I think he's amazing, but the uncle's also amazing in a human kind of way.

I want to know if Tsukasa is still alive...

But I'm really hoping Hagu didn't die. I mean, her death would perfectly fit the tone the series has been aiming for, but please, don't take my little Hagu-chan away~!

Glad to know what Morita and his brother are up to all this while.
Both of them are so cute when they're younger.
Their dad is just as fun as Morita

Deepest episode of whole series so far.

It was obvious from TV1 for me that Morita and his brother earning money not for just simple reason.

But what is great - reflection about talented people, about injustice of this world. Friend of his father exposed great. Even better than some main characters. And what is interesting - this "uncle" and Moritas brother have great talent too, but they don't see it... what a pity. But this is quite vital after all.
Anyway, if I could appraise only this episodes, then I will give "10" score only for this episode and 4th. But overall I can't appraise this anime series with very high score. Not saying that TV1 is shit in compare to TV2.

P.S. Don't give a $%^& about Hagu. I hope she dies (but of course it's obvious that not). So I will never see her disgusting mug and egocentric personality again. The most ugly and absolutely uninteresting character in series (even not only in this series, generally one of the worst and shallow characters I've ever seen), who ruins appraisal very much.

So it was the case that Kaoru was jealous of Morita and his dad. It sucks how their dad was betrayed but like Kaoru said, he understands since he felt the same way. However, Kaoru wasn’t able to move on like his dad wanted him to. I’m glad both brothers were able to get to the point where they can take back the company. Nice to see that Morita has been working toward a selfless goal – it’s just like his character.

What a cliffhanger!! I don’t even want to imagine what happened.

This was an incredible episode

Best episode so far in the entire series.

I did empathize with Tatsuo for not understanding his place in life, but I think this episode unearthed the evil inherent in envy. Tsukasa didn't do anything wrong; yet he's being hated for having his life in order and generally being a good (and likeable) person. He took good care of his kids; he treated his employees well; he didn't even hold a grudge against Tatsuo (shouldering the "hate" in hopes of his children not growing up bitter). For as much as he "did as he pleased", he seemed like a pretty altruistic person, much like Morita. I even dare to say that he didn't seem like a selfish person.

All of this is also wrapped up in the themes of love, friendship, and now hate.

Kaoru could never let go of the bitterness and hate like Tsukasa and Morita could. This is ironic because he identified with Tatsuo's problem. Despite this, Morita is helping Kaoru anyway, likely in hopes that it will bring him peace. He is an altruistic person, after all... He's quite a person to be able to carry so many burdens and still manage to be lighthearted a lot of the time.

I'd like to conclude that you are what you make yourself, not what others make you. That's not to say others can't/don't influence you (especially during childhood, for example), but in the end who you are is up to you. You shouldn't blame someone else for having their life in order just because you don't.

...

Crap. That ending.

Those back-to-back monologues.

Hagu's body...

Hate is a strong word and i wouldnt use it in case of Negishi and Kaoru. None of them really hated Tatsuo and Shinobu. I agree with the last part, though.

Honey and Clover are amazing series and this episode was a true diamond.
I could totally sympathize with both Tatsuo and Kaoru. Having an example of someone you will never be; someone who has everything you dont and is everything you aspire to be constantly by your side is REALLY HARD. Whether it is a best friend or a sibling (though, in terms of siblings it gets even harder) you cant not to compare yourself with them. Tatsuo has always been by Tsukasa side. He was his best friend and yet, he always felt worthless. Tsukasa was extremely talented, confident, bright and loved by everyone. He was like a star. Even the girl Tatsuo liked (or maybe loved, who knows) was charmed by him and eventually became his wife. Tatsuo Negishi led a pretty lonely life. Look for yourself:
1)His father is gone
2)He has to take care of his sick mother who seems to also have some problems with her memory.
3)He has no wife and children; he is all by himself
4) He is terminally ill
Damn, can it get any worse?! I am not defending him for betraying Tsukasa. He acted mostly in terms of convincing himself that he will never catch up to him. Thinking 'why is the world divided on those who are talented and loved and those who are not', 'what was the point of my life', always watching from the shadows. Geez, that sure is a painful way to lead ones life!
And the way Kaoru connects to him is uncanny.
If there is one thing i blame Tsukasa for is him not being able to see the burden that his best friend Tatsuo and his son Kaoru had to carry all along. I feel like he never paid much attention to both of them. I mean, how could he not notice that Negishi is terminally ill as well as his pain? How he could not see that his oldest son is lonely and desperate for his attention?
I feel so sorry for both of them and i hope they will find their own happiness (Tatsuo in afterlife and Kaoru in his future earth life).
P.S - i, myself, believe that we are all stars and each of us should strive to find their own light. Constantly comparing yourself to others will bring you nothing but despair. Like G. Allan said: 'You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars.' There will always be people who are more talented, attractive or sucessful than you are but its not a reason to give up. Compete only with yourself and treasure what you have.

Ok, i am done! ^^

That was a really outstanding episode, I loved every minute of it.

I really liked learning about Shinobu and Kaoru's father and company and Tatsuo. I can see why Tatsuo envied Tsukasa but it was wrong of him to sell the company out from under him and I can see why Tsukasa quit even though he'd get paid more and so would the rest of the staff.

I'm glad they are trying to get back the company.

OMG! Did Hagu commit suicide? I hope not, maybe there was an accident.
