Haha, you raise a good point on "the next Miyazaki". Speaking of Mamoru Hosoda, you should watch TokiKake. Seriously. Fantastic movie!

As for the dub on 5cm, I thought it was pretty bland. The VA for Takaki also does the voice for Tomoya for the Clannad dub (if you've seen that), and tbh he's rather monotonous. The other performances were also pretty generic, IIRC. Apparently, Shinkai thought they completely botched it and asked for another company to re-dub it, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find that one =/ So, give it a shot if you want, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

I fully agree on the new film--lo and behold Shinkai might finally try to tell a different story this time! Tenmon is also at last able to show off his chops with a full orchestra, which definitely sounds a lot more immersive than before. Although, I would've preferred Joe Hisaishi to work on the score :P In any case, May really can't come soon enough >.<

Mhm, Miyazaki and "the next Miyazaki" kick plenty of ass alright! Especially 5cm/s, that honestly left me depressed for like a week. Oh, be sure to check out my 5cm/s review (and perhaps thumbs it up :P)

Btw, have you seen the trailer for Shinkai's new film? Looks to me like he's taking a page straight outta Miyazaki's book, and it's gonna be amazing :D
