THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- An hour full of pure bliss and eye candy, thank the yuri gods once again. That was incredibly beautiful and sweet. That animation quality, too! I seriously wouldn't mind more of these OVA/movie formats, lol. Praying for more! I've been slow on reading the manga unfortunately, but I should get back to that ASAP, especially after I watched this! A fantastic OVA. 10/10. |

I watched Doukyuusei and thought, wouldn't it be nice if there were a shoujo ai like this? And now there is. It was lovely. I'm sure I'm not the only one strongly reminded of another gentle gardener: https://myanimelist.net/character/30430/Shiemi_Moriyama She was my favorite character in Blue Exorcist, and I wished she could have a more peaceful life in a different anime. And in a sense, now she does. |

Forums were down when this came out sheesh. Rewatched this again and it's just fucking lovely. The expressions, the color pallete, the emotions, the music. It's all here. Gosh I hope this is the direction shoujo-ai heads towards cause it's truly beautiful and breath taking. |

This was so darn cute. <3 I really loved every minute of it. The characters, animation and music were all fantastic. I adored their beautiful relationship and wished we had more. |

I swear, this is the yuri I've been waiting for since... I don't even know how long. Gone is the mysterious and abusive portrayal from the likes of NTR, Citrus, or even Kuzu no Honkai. Here, we have just what love should look like, in the widest sense. I'd say this is a must for any person who likes yuri and shoujo ai, but also a strong recommendation for any shoujo fan in general. Damn, those tears near the end^^ Easy 10/10. And I don't give 10/10 easily. |

It's so cute and comfy and lovely, I'm dying from fluffy feels. <3 The colors are also so beautiful with sweet background music. You can't get cuter than this. And oh no! Stupid phone, don't you dare interrupting the sexy time. D= |

Cute but I'm not a fan of how predictable it was and how Kase San's gender wasn't even factored in properly. Like I can imagine him getting replaced by a boy and I can still see it being the same. It really sucks that it didn't show another side of same sex romance. I still think YagaKimi is the best one I've encountered so far. |

Watched this after a recommendation. Loved it and went on to read the manga afterwards. The OVA adapted chapters 1-15. I wonder if the remaining chapters and the sequel series will get adapted in the future? |

This might be one of the most under-rated anime out there. There are precious few yuri I've seen that can compare to this one. Revolutionary Girl Utena and Whispered Words are the only ones that come even close. This story really deserves more love and appreciation. |

What a beautiful adaptation. It may only be an OVA but not only does it capture the appeal of the manga but the fantastic soundtrack, voice acting, visuals, animation, and direction makes it an improvement upon the source material. I'll be sad if we dont get a full anime series but what we did get was nothing short of perfect. Ugh, watching this and Doukyuusei back-to-back is not good for healthy blood sugar levels. |

This is a yuri series but its a cute one, even non yuri fan can appreciate the story of this one.. i love how they have ended the story as instead of stopping kase from taking an exam at tokyo university, she decided to just take also there... 💓💓💓 For me i believe if you love somwone, you will not stop the one you love in pursuing their dreams, instead you must support them... And i agree with a line mentioned here, GRADUATION IS THE TIME FOR NEW PEOPLE AND NEW EXPERIENCES, so to those who are graduating, take this time to cherish wvery moment with the people you are with, as when you graduate new doors will open for you, new things, people, and challenges that will made you a better person.. Nice OVa!!! |

Didn't like this anime, Yamada is annoying and without personality I wonder what will happen if she and Kase breakup. Actually esaoud review describes pretty much my point of view. |
I like to post in manga forum when I feel it is worth it, so people will think. "Shit, is her again" or something. People asked me where I read certain thing but the rules say no telling where did you read so maybe I am too boring for not saying? Or salty because you didn't check my profile that says don't ask because I hate people to ghost me after that. I love learning languages so maybe I did not read the manga in English. |

It was a cute OVA. The story was predictable and simplistic but enjoyable at certain point. Not to mention that some scenes were very well handled such as the one with the conversation through the phone about Kase going to Tokio. It was my favorite scene and probably the most realistic moment of the OVA. That heartfelt exchange of words between them... although being short, it was a sweet interaction. The animation and visual effects were nice and the colour palette they used was of my liking as well. Regarding the characters, Yamada is a lovely girl although a bit overdramatic for my taste and Kase... was ok I guess. Honestly, I didn't find her really interesting but to be fair, neither of them received the proper individual development they needed. Overall, it was a cute and heartwarming story but not something really memorable either. However, I wouldn't really mind seeing more of these girls if some studio ever decides to adapt more chapters of the manga. 6/10 |

This OVA is quite realistic when it comes to relationships, the shyness of it and when one of the two has to go on and follow their dream. I loved this as nothing was forced. I think the best anime for this thing is still Bloom Into You, but the story they presented in 1 hour is just amazing. I wanted to give it a 8/10, but the moment Yamada jumped into the arms of Kase on her way to Tokyo... THAT was the moment it jumped to 9/10. Is it selfish and irresponsible of Yamada to join an university in Tokyo just for Kase? Yes. Did I like the moment that when she decided to join her because of love? Yes. I kind of had a 'problem' with the OST... It was so soothing that I actually wanted to close my eyes and just listen to the soundtrack. But the colors and the art was an extra to the soundtrack. An easy 9/10 from me. |

Story-wise it was nothing special but yuri-wise it was very heartwarming, cute and beautiful girl romance. Takamina and Ayaneru did really well in this one and their ending song was wonderful. I really enjoyed every second of this movie and even though the used tropes were very common it was put into context of their love relationship very well. The imagery was also great and some background that emphasized light and shadow were pretty awesome to look at. 7/10 Very good shoujo-ai movie, maybe not as memorable but one with plenty of positive energy to give. |

The OVA was great to see some of the main moments of kase and yamada, if you didn't read the manga the history and characters may seem shallow, because as I said, the OVA is just SOME of the main moments. Is not like "manga is always better" or that their characters are complex, but is definitely more developed in the manga. |

This is perfect! I love everything about this, and I'm wishing there could be a part two (about their college life). The animation, the scenery, the character design, sighhhhh. I never enjoyed a yuri anime before. Since this is said to be adapted from manga, I will surely check it out. Yamada is so cute and I love how Kase sniffed her bed lolololololol |

That was awesome!Watched it subbed. Thanks HIDIVE! I am going to watch it again later dubbed. I love Morgan’s VA’s so I’m pretty excited. Adorable. Quite a departure from the usual romance. Almost steamy at times. I was lost in the felling through many scenes. |

I loved it so much (っ´▽`)っ I could watch so much more of this, it's so sad it was so short, and ended pretty quickly, but it was happy end at least Edit: after reading 10 chapters in the manga, I have already noticed several big and smaller differences. I see they did change quite a lot in this OVA. The order of the events is completely different, they skipped some kinda important parts too(like kiss scenes) etc. Well, this movie is still really great, and these changes don't really effect the outcome, it's not like they skip chapters(well, except for the first 6 chapters, which is the prologue to the story, to how they started going out), only some pages. |

I read the manga before watching this OVA. There are two parts of the manga, the OVA adapts the first part ('Asegao to Kase-san') about their life in high school and the second part ('Yamada to Kase-san') is still ongoing and shows their university life in Tokyo. I recommend checking it out, it's really wholesome and cute. From what I can tell the Author had to end the first series prematurely because the magazine it was published in went out of business. The second series is a quasi-reboot published in a new magazine and picks up the story from where the first series ended but still includes a few flashback chapters for the readers who are unfamiliar with the first series. The OVA did a great job at adapting the manga, they chose parts from different chapters, skipped the beginning where they first met eachother, left out a few scenes from the chapters they adapted and slightly changed the order of events but it was a good choice given how there was only about an hour of time. The voice acting was great and the voices were how I imagined them to sound from the manga. Great animation and soundtrack as well. I hope that we will some day get an anime series of this story, it's one of the sweetest yuri romances out there. I will continue to read the manga every month and pray for more animated content. |

This was soo cute. Everything about this OVA was done very well... Be it the art style, the soft and soothing soundtrack, the characters' expressions, oh and those lovely moments too. Can't say this is the Doukyusei of Yuri (because of the art style), but this was surely pure and cute like Doukyusei |

I found it shallow and boring. The characters didn't have any chemistry between them - just awkwardness and misunderstandings. In other words, for the whole hour of this OVA's run time, we, the viewers, had constantly shown to us that the protagonists love each other, but weren't provided a single reason why their love came to be in the first place. I also like the point @EGOIST made earlier about how the story would have been exactly the same (except for the bath part) if there was a boy in Kase-san's place. And the bed sniffing was kinda creepy. |

As a manga reader i felt the movie was brought to life really well. It was very aesthetic, great music and so on. The issue is, you can kind of separate the manga as two parts, first part - falling in love, second part - after dating conflict. The second part was what was animated into this movie, while the first part of actually falling in love was put in the 5 min MV, which was what disappointed me. If i was not a manga reader, i wouldn't be able to care for the characters because i wouldn't know anything about them and i personally would have liked the first part of falling in love to be animated into the movie which would have been adorable slice of life and not an angst drama. |

Wholesome time is wholesome.. I never really understood the changing schools problem.. I mean, it's the most possible outcome, you have to face it in 99 times out of 100 or something.. You either think on how to maintain relationships despite distance.. Or you can continue just fear about it and do nothing.. Though, also not big chances you can maintain that relationship.. If it's friendly relationship - easier.. If it's love.. Not that many chances.. Though, also it's girls love, and who freaking would care really, if both Yamada and Kase would have each other on the side, even while dating someone else?.. Unless it'd be another girl or something like that.. But also, I guess, relationships can just dissolve, with both of them being busy, and just not having time to enjoy each other's company, even at distance.. Yeah, you can always find time.. But would it be as enjoyable time, or more tiring?.. So in the end it's still a problem.. Just that their separation is a bit a question to me.. Well, this anime both gave happiness and depression.. Liked them both.. |

I wish there was a series for this. Watching the movie I thought it was fine, nothing more. There were many cute moments, but there wasn't enough time for establishing the characters properly or developing them. So despite the cuteness it wasn't as touching as it could have been if it was a series or at least a movie twice as long. Also, it felt like a collection of 3 episodes of equal length, as there were clear skips to a different scene at 20 and 40 minute marks, and not quite enough continuity between them. I didn't think Kase could have been replaced with a boy. At least in an anime world, that pivotal bedroom scene would have played out quite differently. Even though she was more assertive in that scene, there was gentleness in her behaviour and movements that is hard to find in a male MC. Also if she had been a boy, the writers would have turned it into a joke about nervousness being ridiculous, or some reference to being a pervert. Whereas in shoujo-ai the assertive female can much more commonly still be gentle without it being turned into a joke. |

that was boring. just generic tropes of them getting shy and blushing every 2 seconds. And the whole thing of her seeing her naked embarrassing her and the other girl thought it made her angry and wanted to break up was stupid. I was hoping to see them introduce themselves to the parents and see how that went. |

I don't know why I've only heard about this now, but this movie is so good. Nothing I can't really complain about except for the fact that it's too short. Wish they made it longer or just a normal 5 or so episode ova. Other than that, it's good. |

What a shallow, tedious OVA this is. The entire narrative is predicated on us caring about these two girls and their relationship, when we know nothing about them whatsoever besides very basic, surface-level details. There's nothing this OVA provides that encourages us to be invested in the relationship of these two caricatures and the drama that stems from it. It just seems like they wanted to do a bunch of cute yuri moments (which, let's be honest, could have just as easily replaced Kase with a boy without anything changing at all) without any regard for character depth. Also, even if these characters did have any amount of depth at all, the conflict is also thoroughly cliche and flat, the good old "one half of the relationship is insecure that they're not good enough for the other, such fears exacerbated by said other half spending more time with other people than the person they're dating"; seriously, it's weird that we're supposed to buy these two as a couple when Kase always prioritises her friends over Yamada. If any series would serve as a textbook example of why almost no romance series ever starts with the characters already dating, this is it: that time before the characters gets together is important to get invested in them both as individuals and as a romantic pairing, not least because it makes you want to see them overcome or work through any drama that ends up arising. Just a boring cliche-fest from start to finish, but at least it looks nice I guess. 5/10 |

ughh this was so cute, i'm not one to gush about a lot of stuff but the entire time i couldn't stop commenting on how cute it was this is the best wlw rep i've seen in anime as a whole. it's nice that they were already dating so we can see their romantic relationship from start to finish, waiting for two characters to get together can get quite annoying sometimes. the drama felt natural and not forced so that was nice to see. i love their dynamic together. sometimes i dislike when a wlw couple is made with a "girly-girl" and a "tomboy" because it can sometimes feel like the tomboy is simply just a replacement for a guy but i didn't feel that at all during this. nope, they are definitely fruity for each other, no boys involved in that romance >:) i was sad when it finished, i wish this could have been a 12 episode anime or something but i still enjoyed it nonetheless. 9/10!! |

I like the art a lot, both the characters and the backgrounds. Even though this is blatantly yuri and the couple is together at the beginning, which isn't something you see often. I feel like we're being purposely deprived of deeper and/or lewd moments of them together. Between the phone call interrupting them, and Yamada being too shy to bathe together -- we're barely getting crumbs of them kissing. I'd like to see a series that explores a set of characters more involved than just staring at one another and blushing. Let's try diving deeper into the lesbian psyche, can we? Also, that was kind of a weird ending. It was like, five minutes of the crushing, existential crisis of being separated and alone only to be quickly resolved with Yamada deciding she'd just go to Tokyo U. If she had those kinds of grades to begin with and had no strong feelings one way or another which school she wanted to attend, then why even have this conflict of going to different schools? I feel like that whole "going to different schools" thing is incredibly played out too. So, considering this series already had a lot of shallow conflicts, it's a bit disappointing to just see another cliché tossed it at the end. Overall, it wasn't bad, I really just wanted more out of it. It felt like we were given the bare minimum requirement of yuri. |

Wasn't bad but it was pretty much just a compilation checklist of the standard moments in any random romance show: - insecure girl vs. outgoing partner - being alone in bedroom - school trip The only defining trait it had was it being 2 girls, but even then EGOIST said: Cute but I'm not a fan of how predictable it was and how Kase San's gender wasn't even factored in properly. Like I can imagine him getting replaced by a boy and I can still see it being the same. It really sucks that it didn't show another side of same sex romance. says it best. There wasn't anything noteworthy about it being a lesbian relationship. I'm not saying such a thing is abnormal in any way, but this was pretty much just a simple gender swap. There was no real conflict or drama, just Yamada being cute and flustered. While those moments were nice, it wasn't enough. 6/10 |
