----------------------------------------
The music in this show is so good :o
It adds momentum to the fight and really captures the thrill of it. The episode didn't waste much time with the psychology going on in the ring.

Junk Dog's inner thoughts while trying to match against his opponent's moves is also pretty interesting to see. I think this episode also did a really good job at the chereography as the punching felt impactful. The punches looked real and the aftermath (with added blood!) made it looks very credible.

I think Junk Dog will need to improve but he has time. Looking forward to seeing his development.

The music for the OP is just awesome. Best OP for this season. The music in general for this show is great. Junk Dog got completely wrecked by Yuri, but that was to be expected. That fight was brutal. Looking forward to see him fight his way to the top for the rematch.

Have also to agree, the sound is indeed great. The opening is pretty damn kickass too.

JD got hiss ass kicked like expected and Yuri gave the invitation to challenge him again on the grand stage.

The last scene with JD choosing his new name had me grinning so hard. It was no surprise that he would go for Joe,but I still liked that moment very much.

Loved the cameos too

Quite a few throwbacks to the original in this episode. Loved what they've done thus far but getting very worried about the episode count, being just 13.

OST quickly becoming one of my favourites. Mabanua are certainly one to look out for.

god this anime has really good build up/set up. the fight with yuri was amazing sad that it was a little short but then again yuri is the champ so I really shouldn't have been that surprised the fight didn't last long. I love how Junkyard Dog started disobeying nanbu that moment you knew JD was serious about fighting Yuri on his ring. Why is this anime only 12 episodes!?

Junk Dog is already super likeable and Yuri is a brilliant foe. I loved Rikishi so i'm glad i'm having the mutual feeling towards Yuri in this series.

Goosebumps during this close up.

Also, for anyone not well versed in the sport of Boxing. The way Yuri fought in the beginning, using only his left and flicking his arm from his waist is the same exact way an actual fighter called Tommy Hearns (who was one of the most notable champions in the 80's) fought. Junk Dog even made mention to the angles of his jab disrupting him. That's called the flicker jab and it was even referenced in Hajime no Ippo.

As both a Boxing fan and an Ashita no Joe fan this show is already exceeding the expectations i held beforehand.

And the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL.

Best OST this season.

I absolutely loved this episode and this show has been probably one of my favorites this season.

I love how the punches never felt too shounen and it also felt very painful with the blood used.

Really excited for the future of this show. The hype is through the roof.

This absolutely continues to impress. Looks gorgeous in an old school kind of way and the OST is killer too. The characters are growing on me too.

Gonna join the group as well, the music in this ep. is as dope as in the previous one. Especially the synthwave track post-fight and the lofi hip-hop song. Really like the old school art as well, the cityscape is gorgeous and the boonies really have that Trigun/Borderlands look. Just show the futuristic city at a smoky night and I'd be sold. I do hope they come with surprises in the story.

Man the OST is gonna burn down my house soon enough

That Joe name drop was great tbh and all the other references. This is amazing to see as an avid boxing fan, can't wait to see where this will go. I think this show would have benefitted by being a double cour anime, 13 feels rushed tbh. But so far it's almost perfect

Yare yare, JD made Yuri use both his hands, it might not have been much since Yuri finished him off a few seconds later, but it was still pretty good.

Well, I'm certainly terrified of that yakuza guy, he's not to be messed with.

Yet another great episode, can't wait for the next one!!

Fk, that OP is everything that that horrible Souten no Ken OP SHOULD have been =w=.
Also, wait. Gimme a second here... they have 3 months to enter the tournament, after which JunkDog/Joe is one of four members of the tournament, meaning 3 opponents... and this anime will air for ~3 months from now on and have 3 special episodes afterwards... Huuh, that's pretty clever if they're doing what I think they're doing, lol.

I'm just sad that horrible rap thing happened in the middle of the episode. The only negative about the music so far, otherwise the OST is fking amazing :3

That episode was really good, this show is shaping up to be one of my favorites, the OST fits really well the overall ambiance of the show (the rap part was pretty dope and i LOVE the ED), i loved the references to ashita no joe, i was worried a for a second that he will go all edgy and choose "Junk Dog" as his name when they left him to choose, but it turned out way better than expected.

Oh my god yeah this animation shot... I GOT SO MANY RIKIISHI VIBES.

These little intricacies from the close up shot mentioned above to the way the "Joe" was reverberated by Nanbu and the Yakuza Guy after Junk Dog picked it. It's these little things that are pushing this show past 'great' to something even more. Even during the opening when there's a shot of what appears to be the original Joe's hat hung on a pole.

This has been such a perfect ode to Ashita no Joe so far whilst in the same breath standing out on it's own.
My only qualm is the length of the season. 13 episodes are meh. 26 would've been perfection.

Recommend me some short Manga!

It's all rather predictable so far but it's the good kind of predictable. This anime is shaping up to be something worth experiencing. The "rule of cool" along with the gritty atmosphere is compelling, let's hope it ends up being more than that + cool fights.

Anyone else mouth the words "...when I'm having this much fun" before he even said it? Kinda cliche but I like the twist with the manager being forced into getting his fighter to turn pro. That gang boss seems like the honorable sort too, the fact that he even gave him a shot shows that he's kind of reasonable in his own brutal way.

Holy crap, this episode was amazing!! Dare I say, even better than the first episode! :O Predictable or not, it doesn't change the fact that I loved this episode and definitely can't wait for the Junk Dog (or his currently new name, Joe) vs Yuri rematch!! :D Joe is such a likable MC tbh and I felt so proud of him for not giving up in his match with Yuri, even though he got a KO in the end.

Yuri and Owner kinda grew on me too, tbh. I love their duo "relationship" and can't wait to see more of them! xD I also loved Yuri's dog. So cute!!

In the first episode, I didn't really like Pops because he wasn't very supportive of Joe, even though they are partners but, this episode, I kinda felt sympathy for him and I honestly thought he was going to die but I'm glad he didn't because I'm hoping one of these days (err, episodes), Pops will fully back up his words of Joe being a good fighter by actually supporting him because actions speak louder than words!! That would be an emotional moment for me! :')

Currently sad because I realized Megalo Box only has 13 episodes. :( I'm really starting to love this anime more and more with each episode so I'm hoping there will be a sequel or something like that in the future lol. xD

The OP and the soundtrack in general for this anime are pretty good! :)

5/5!

Man the soundtrack is so good and unique, that really helps to get better moments. As expected Yuri won easily with incredible strong punches. They don't are afraid of using blood to get more credible which is nice. The fight was short but good.
Junk Dog needs to improve a lot to get to the level of the champion. Can't wait to his revenge match. Also that ring name tho.

Loving this series so far, havent even seen Ashita no joe yet this is still great. Getting to already know ans like the characters really well, story seems to be heading an obvious direction but is still exciting as the stakes are real as we realised in this episode. Animation and soundtrack are also great. Love the facial details when fighting. Hav really high hopes for this

It was even better than the last time and, as many people have already said, the music is really good on this anime.
And the opening is really excellent, I listened it twice. Listen to this bass guitar ! It's perfect, and I love the visual with the dog !

So a good episode even if I find the pace a little slow, but it accentuates the heavy atmosphere of the anime, I like it. I begin to see a rather heavy and dirty rather interesting atmosphere in this anime and I hope it will continue to gain amplitude even more and especially I hope there will be more than 13 episodes because this anime merit it I think.
I had a huge smile when Junk Dog chose his new name, it was a long time since I was so happy watching a scene.
The fights look pretty good in this anime, I hope we can reach summits later.
