Well Taki got a big responibility with the band considering what they'll have to compete against.

I like the little bit of Kumiko and Reina chemistry this episode. As for the performance, I think it was pretty good. Everyone practiced hard and performed at the best of their abilities. Definitely deserved a round of applause from me as well. Grats on making the Nationals!

Man, you know how to keep me on the edge of my seat? Just show a 10-minute performance and shut the fuck up. No inner monologues giving you a recap, just some small visual cues. Great job, KyoAni.

Damn, I legitimately wanted them to lose after all that garbage we endured through the first 4 episodes, and that total bitch Asuka's speech only made it worse. Considering we aren't even halfway through yet though I suppose this is to be expected. For now, the show has absolutely lost me, but I'll keep watching and try to find something, anything positive to latch onto.

Well, they made it. Go Kitauji school. Even though they are the main school for this anime it still keep me intense. I was kinda pissed off when they show the ED only to realize there's still after end credit left.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

I was surprised to see such an epic episode in the middle of the season. Definitely felt like a final episode.

Nice to hear the whole song this time with emphasis on Mizore's solo. I think they had a short cut in the middle last time to show something off stage with the other characters.

5/5 ep.

Awesome episode, Loved it. :D

Loved that little interaction between Reina and Kumiko, Even though Reina said she plays for herself it was very sweet when she said she'd also play for Kumiko. These small but powerful moments really show how great a friendship both of them have.

Amazing performance, Reina Solo and Mizore Solo was great. <3
Loved how they added those little flashbacks for Kumiko and Nozomi.
Also 10 minute performance FTW, We need more of those. XD

Kitauji won gold and move onto the nationals, I was praying that they'd win and cheering for them. XD
Lovely final scene with Reina, Kumiko and Mizore saying she loves competitions for this one moment.

LOVED this episode, im so glad they showed us the their entire performance, i was moved to tears it was so good!!! (btw does anyone know the name of the piece they performed? i like it very much).
Honestly the first 4 episodes were too much drama-filled (typical for kyoani tho) for my liking and i was kind of disappointed but this ep totally made me fall in love with hibike again.

Didn't expect the competition to be so early and the skipping scene after Taki-sensei started conducting i thought they would skip their performance part, but well what can i say it was amazing, i think KyoAni did such a great job. Love Kumiko's view during the play, the flashback on the mountain with Reina.
And obviously happy for the band, to the Nationals!
I chuckled at the scenes with Tsukamoto, feels like they are putting him cause they feel bad for him.

And see Kumiko stand up and cry made me so proud and happy, it's so wonderful to see how much she is into it now, she's becoming more and more passionate!

I guess Medals are just there to qualify the performance, as you can see in the end, the 3 best Gold got into Nationals

The same stuff goes for sports on real life, people can get gold, but the maximum honor is "World Record" I think

Holy shit! This was what I always wanted in Hibike Euphonium. A full-on, uncut, band performance with no monologues and just them playing with a bit of visual imageries. Kyoto Animation answered my prayers xD!! No words can explain how beautiful that performance was. The trumpet solo by Reina was fantastic, that oboe performance by Mizore was an angel-sounding performance to my ears and so many more praises that it would take me a whole paragraph to explain how much I loved this piece........To sum it up, That performace was simply beautiful.

ALSO

THE YURI BAIT

IS SO STRONG!!

Keep it up, KyoAni

5/5 This is one of the best Hibike episodes I have seen so far.

A fantastic episode, the last few were enjoyable but kind of slowed the story down it was mostly about the inter-character drama which worked but it was great to watch them perform their hearts out in this and move on. Go them! Onto Nationals next let's see if they can pull a victory all around and anxious to see where the next set of episodes go.

it's a grading system. much like the alphabet grading system used in western schools.

If a lot of schools worked hard and preformed well, they'd all get "gold". Like an "A" on a math test. But only the top 3 move on.

Kumiko called getting a Gold but not making the next round a "dud gold". It was what Reina and her dealt with in middle school.

Every school is evaluated on their performance and rated either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal depending on how well they do. Any school that performs at the highest level of excellence will receive a gold medal, but only the three highest rated schools get to go to nationals. Those schools who get gold but don't make it to nationals refer to it as "dud gold".

Still a great episode but I found it to be a bit weaker than the previous four. The buildup to the performance felt somewhat forced, even if it was meant for humor. While the performance itself was great, there were some small things that didn't work visually. Characters had pictures covering their music, meaning they shouldn't have been able to read their music. There were a few successive quick cuts of Taki-Sensei during the performance, but each one had a vastly different facial expression even though they were shown within seconds of each other. Also, the last line from Mizore felt a bit forced and seemed to come out of nowhere. It doesn't work thematically for her to only like competitions if they win. That being said, the performance was spectacular, and the tension both during the performance and waiting for the awards was executed excellently. There were a few really cute Reina/Kumiko moments in there. The scene where Kumiko was on the phone with Azusa was quite great also. The artwork is still outstanding, and ultimately, most of my negatives here are small inconsistencies that bring me out of the experience only slightly. Euphonium is still Euphonium, and is definitely the best show airing right now.

I felt shivers go through me during that whole performance. Truly outstanding job KyoAni! ^_^

All of their hard work and sheer determination has finally paid off and they're now going to the nationals. It's going to be a lot harder to win that outright, but I'm sure Kitauji will give it their all though! =)

The interactions between Kumiko and Reina as well as Mizore and Nozomi before their big performance was sweet and relaxing. However, my favourite moment came when Kumiko asked Mizore if she hated competitions still. Replying with a beautiful million-watt smile, she replies to Kumiko that she now loves it. She's had a solid transformation in the last few episodes thanks to Kumiko and Yuko, so seeing her being part of a successful concert band makes me happy for her. =)

Best episode of season 2 so far! =D
