It was an okay episode. Besides some of the Sentai like gimmicks, it had a few fun moments. And I have to say, that is one wacky invention at the end there...

I mean, it looks flashy and all but not something I'd like to own.

Nice new postbox there.

Pressure points completely changing Akamatsu's voice and personality. He's becoming the new Koganen? After Ikumi inhereted the costume. And that was an... interesting machine...

Still no more sign of Murakami...

This is without a doubt the most serious and also the most absurd episode to ever come from Jinsei. There's a tale involving Ikumi's fondness for Koganen and for the sake of making things crazier by deviating itself from the usual slice of life shenanigans that have been there in the past episodes, there's the involvement of the science teacher planning to do something evil as Yuki disguises himself to defeat him with the help of Ikumi's training. Everything went well from there and when I find out that the hostage is actually the pervert from the First Newspaper Club, I was actually surprised as I thought Yuki would save some unnamed background character or something.

The series is getting better but only slowly unfortunately. It isn't shocking to see Ikumi being the most developped character of the whole series as I've been liking not only her energetic personality but also her funny antics as she mess around with everyone and had a wide spectrum of her own facets. That groundwork needs to apply for the two main heroines despite showing some subtle character development and I wanna see Emi so badly. The biggest flaw concerning about Yuki is that there's nothing really outstanding about him besides talking things too fast and has the occasional habit of performing lewd things to Rino, he's simply there for the sake of it, he needs more development and not just a walking blank state despite being a common trait in an typical harem series. The pervert had a worst case scenario of the same table.

To sum up everything now that the series is crossing past the halfway point, well the plot is simplistic but needed much more depth besides throwing a bunch of hardcore Japanese references no casual anime fan would understand. The good thing about the story however is that the characters actually started resolving issues besides going the mere fact of opinionated tendencies created by the female characters. There is also some fanfare and a bit of nudity to spice it up but it do not feel too spectacular. Animation was okay but feel scruffy a lot of times.

TL;DR The series itself is average at best, it had some good characterization from Ikumi and some of the moments were fine, however I can't say many things that were truly great to be shown here.

I agree. It sure got off to a bad start.

MisaoFan also said:

Right. But it's totally not his fault! Yūki and Rino are both very introverted and
socially awkward. I hope that all of this accidental intimacy can help them to
get together eventually.

In the text crawler which appears at the bottom of the screen at 09:00/24:00,
they announce that you can now buy "The Koganen song" (コガネンのうた) on
iTunes here for 250 Yen.

https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/koganennouta-single/id904150807

It is sung by Daisuke Namikawa (浪川大輔) who is a veteran anime voice
performer and Hollywood movie dub performer. This is the full-length version
which is 03:31 long.

A much less expensive option is to watch this AMV version by a group called
太鼓さん次郎 ("The Taiko Drum Guy"):

Quite often, anime series will market CDs on their official websites with lots of
music such as OP, ED, insert songs and "character songs". But from looking
at their official website, I don't think that Jinsei is selling CDs. Instead, each
volume of the Blu-ray (or DVD) will come with a CD in the same package.
Volume 1 will have a CD with the ED and the creditless OP. My assumption is
that "The Koganen Song" will be included on a future CD, but that has not
been announced yet. In the meantime, it looks like they are taking the route
of marketing via iTunes (and related vendors). But to my knowledge, I can't
think of past examples of anime series that marketed music through iTunes.

Nice spot. I don't pay attention to those things as they're usually not of interest.

Not that that song is of interest to me either.

And yes, I had noticed that the OP and ED songs were only available as downloads.

Hmm, OK episode ... seems like we have an arc now with the mysterious burned question box? :O Everyone had pretty interesting takes on how to catch the criminal ... well, I mean, Ikumi turning into a dog and sniffing around LOL O_O Didn't expect Fumi to suggest a secret society, but somehow Asano thought it was that as well ... hmm :O
Middle part with stalking Ikumi was interesting ... Fumi and Rino dubbing over their conversation was hilarious XD I get what she said about him being her hero ... except that denial XD The insert song was pretty good actually, definitely fits ... except those lyrics though :P
It'll be interesting to see how this gets solved next episode :O

At 14:22/23:39, Rino said, "The box was dissolved with sodium hydroxide solution,
so our culprit is likely to be someone with access to such hazardous substances."

But in fact, sodium hydroxide is a consumer product that can be purchased freely.
It is an industrial strength drain cleaner for severe clogs. Sodium hydroxide is also
known as "lye" and ordinary people use it in many ways. Possibly Japan has some
kind of restrictions. It is very dangerous.

Rino was correct that sodium hydroxide can dissolve wood.

When the teacher used sodium hydroxide to destroy his books, that would certainly
work since sodium hydroxide also dissolves paper. It dissolves many things in fact.

However, sodium hydroxide cannot dissolve plastic. Therefore, the teacher could
only dispose of his DVDs by throwing them out into the tall grass. So Ikumi could
find them.

At 21:25/23:39, Rino said, "She didn't have to latch on to him. They're like a
carbon-carbon triple bond." It is true that the triple bond that can form between
two carbon atoms (C≡C) is quite strong. But there are several bonds that are
stronger, such as C≡N, N≡N and especially C≡O. Since Rino seems to have some
feelings of affection for Akamatsu, possibly what she had in mind is that Ikumi
could certainly latch onto him with a C≡C bond, but Rino could stick to him even
more tightly with her C≡O bond.

Funny episode. Akamatsu has always been boring so I didn't expect him to be the center of the jokes ^^

His manly voice and don juan persona was freaking hilarious XD

So smooth that even Ikumi blushed and of course made Rino jealous all the time. Also that massage innuendo XD Well if there's one positive thing about Akamatsu is he rarely shied away from tasty situations unlike most harem MCs, that much is clear from ep 4 (IIRC that was the fan service ep)

Koganen stuff is boring. Akamatsu's voice changing was amusing, and funny. It's also a cool voice. Rino's jealousy is cute. She wants to see Ikumi's special massage assuming that its something lewd.

Turns out the HHH was just a society to help people hide their porn ... treating them with chemicals?! O_O That's pretty drastic haha. Well, good thing they managed to find out what happened to their submission box. Too bad nobody believed Akamatsu in the end ... but hey, nice final pose in the sunset! :P

It was in okay episode. Got to see more of the pink haired girl in the opening but didn't see her at all in the actual episode, that man in the suit is actually 25 years old (and he is so pitiful for being 25 asking high school students for ice breakers just for a booty call), and a teacher goes to unnecessary links to hide his porn.

The pressure points turning Mr. bland male lead into a playboy and a guy with a sick hero like voice was pretty entertaining. Makes me want to find that nonexistent pressure point too.

Is anybody familiar with the light novel series? I'm not. I just wonder whether
the story was better as a light novel than it is in this adaptation into an anime.

I can't tell you since I'm not a LN reader, but anime based on light novels have source materials that tends to be a lot better than their respective adaptations and I don't think this one would be an exception. I do however remember reading comments from a few anons who read the novel on what to expect watching the show before it aired.

Sodium hydroxide is one of the most commonly used chemical mass products for industrial use and its safety standards is not very restricted in Japan, too, as far as trained workers use it for their daily job. But it is still risky if a school allow students to access it freely. Local governments recommend schools keep it in a box or a shelf with a lock.
If you buy it personally in Japan to use it at your home, you need to show your name and address on an ID card. They say it may alternatively be preferable to use sodium carbonate for home use because it is milder than sodium hydroxide.
