Is it just me or does anyone else feel like apart from the season 1 of OPM a anime and the Saitama vs Garou fight, the rest of the series is not up to the mark? I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s pretty fun. But it just doesn’t feel awesome now. The plot is very different from what it was, and it’s not a change I like. About Saitama, I get that he can’t show up all the time cause he just gonna one shot everyone, so let’s not talk about that. What I don’t like about Saitama is that I feel that after season 1, he got reduced to just a gag character. His entire personality is just “being stupid and stupidly strong”. Earlier, the series talked abt how he was kinda bummed abt not having fun during fights anymore, how he gave up his humanity for strength. It was a unique topic. But that doesn’t show up much later, except for his fight with Garou. In that fight, he was extremely strong not just cause he is, but because he was pissed. Anyway sry for the rant, but pls do tell me what you think.

Agree, after the first season the series became just a regular action anime. It lost the most of what made OPM special in the beginning. The stuff with Garou was great though, but that's a small part of the whole thing.
Imagine normies saying: "Peaky Blinders is mid and overhyped. Just another typical crime drama show. Breaking Bad is much better lol.".

I think the whole Monster Association arc was really really good and even after that Saitama vs Tatsumaki was pretty cool but since that it felt boring and Like it had no interesting direction. What is even worse are the constant redraws which makes you unsure if the Chapter you are reading is even canon a few weeks later.

It's going down beacuse Saitama isn't almost appearing. And it make sense because he is too much overpowered, but if he does not appear at least for me is not peak

I think everyone has been week to week for far too long, post monster association we have gotten background of fan favorite characters even more depth about the god figure more with blast and we even get to see speed o sonics relationship with flashy flashy. I’d recommend rereading the past few chapters.

I don't think so, I'm still thoroughly enjoying the series minus the constant redraws. Action, art, and humor are all top notch for me, but staying in this damn ninja village arc is rather exhausting. That aside though, I'm still highly looking forward to both more webcomic and manga chapters of OPM.

yeah it's pretty disappointing most of the time now sadly, saitama and the main gang need their focus back. i don't even care about any of the characters in the current arc. then you pair that up with all the redraws happening and there's almost nothing interesting left.

I guess I am the minority because I still love OPM. If you read the original webcomic then you know it is still good and has hype and funny scenes that will be getting Murata's amazing touch in the future.

I don’t rly think I want to read the webcomic. I feel like it would have been better if he Shonen jump version was more consistent in release, there was no OPM on Shonen jump app for about a year if I’m not wrong.

@someguy I loved reading the webcomic but I won't lie its releases have slowed down as well. I am not sure if it took that long of a break or not. I look at the redrawn chapters as other parallel universes now that they've established interdimensional beings and travel.

Wait so the webcomic and redraws have different plots?

@someguy The webcomic is the original ONE version. I don't want to spoil people (even if they are losing interest).

ONE's version looks bad, but the story is amazing. Murata's redrawn version is at chapter 119 of the ONE version. The original webcomic (ONE version) has 151 chapters right now. I would call it the Neo Heroes arc.

It's hard to expect something of the same level of Monster Association and Garou fight. I think Murata is focusing more on God now because there isn't much more to tell or be excited now, so when we less expect we can have the final fight against God. Now just imagine if it ends with literally one punch and that's how the manga ends, would be hilarious.

I'm not reading the manga but One Punch Man always felt to me like somewhat uncreative parody ('gag') series that run its course and has gone on for too many volumes

I unfortunately have to agree. Been reading this manga for 10 years, but I'm kind of at my limit. It really doesn't seem to have any direction at this point, especially with the arc getting completely rewritten multiple times

Definitely wouldn't say the webcomic, "looks bad". I mean compared to the manga it lacks detail sure, but it more than makes up for it with uniqueness and creative paneling. Just look at the chapter right before the most recent one, the fight with pig god, as well as Bofoi v. child emperor was raw as hell. Web comic OPM looks better than CSM part 2 majority of the time these days.

@bboy_OatsnRice I've never been a fan of CSM art anyway. I will agree with you OPM webcomic has some charm to it but compared to other series the "art" is lackluster. It makes up for it with great characters, story, and as you said paneling. I will say ONE has gotten better as an artist tho and when he tries, he can do some decent stuff.

I think the monster arc was pretty damn good. Though I have to be honest with all the redraws Im not sure if I even read the "canon" version.
The redraws are really killling the mood for me sometimes.

It hasn't been any good for a long time to be honest. It should have ended with the Monster Association arc which in itself was severely dragged out.

Ever since then the manga has just felt like one big boring anime filler arc. Most of the chapters just seem pointless. Nothing is really happening, certainly nothing of interest. Saitama feels more like a background cameo character now and Genos hardly appears at all.

It was something that was fun when it started because it had an interesting and funny gimmick and it was quite fast paced and fun. After it found success and they realised that they had to keep it going it just beca generic dragged out bore that gets by because the artwork is fantastic.

But it ran its course years ago.

I agree with all of that. We peaked at the Saitama and Garou fight but now that it’s over, we’ve got this weird epilogue that isn’t an epilogue at the same time. It’s just weird.

I hope things get better as we go on, this is one of my favorite series and I hate to see it not have as much impact anymore
