Ooh, some drama in the season finale. A confrontation of feelings... I mean, Ririsa's love for Okumura is probably the least well kept secret in the show. Still, this season finale still had some picture taking, cosplaying, in general staying with the usual themes of the show. It had fun besides some of the drama. And we're also getting a season 2 so more fun ahead! |

I mean, yeah, it sucks knowing she’s gonna lose no matter what, just ’cause she’s the childhood friend and not the main girl. But like, we all saw this coming from the start. Lilysa completely changed Okumura’s perspective on love, making him into the whole “2.5D girls” thing instead of just 2D or 3D. But she’s not the only one changing Okumura’s worldview; Sensei’s doing it too, and wow, that entire scene was just so good. This anime has no business being this good at doing real, emotional character growth. Like, dang, some of these story bits hit hard. Even if you ignore personal bias, the writing’s seriously on point. Gotta give props to this show for not being mega cringe and actually handling drama and emotion really well. You don’t see that much these days, and it’s easy to tell when it’s cringe or not. But this? It’s got real feels, good dialogue, cool characters, and just a vibe that feels real. I’m impressed. But yeah, was a nice way to wrap things up, with the training arc or whatever you want to call it coming to a close. Considering that season two is confirmed, I would've expected them to at least tease a certain person that'll be pivotal to the next arc, but whatever. Overall, as an adaption this is a pretty mixed bag, with it skipping some stuff and cutting out most of the ecchi, but I never really cared about it all too much, just pretty salty that they cut some stuff here and there. Props to J.C. Staff for actually putting SOME effort into a project that isn't one of their heavy hitters, this really deserved it. We WILL be seated for season two, just hop they don't skip stuff that time around. |

Mikari has finally confessed her love to Ririsa, but for the lost hope that is Okumura, this has been a topic that he has been overtly avoiding since his Otakudom, enough for Mayuri-senpai to give him a pep talk about the 3D world and how he can actually fit into the real world. The problem is that with his upbringing, he has washed everyone out of his life, failing to see that like everyone, he is also a living character in the 3D world. It's the moment of realization that Liliel exists in the 3D world too, and like it or not, he must face Mikari's secret head-on, and also complete their beachside shoot. But as much as Ririsa also loves Okumura, it's not exactly romantic love, but of interest instead. Too bad that Okumura's romantic "training" arc...still isn't quite as fully realized, but being amicable...isn't too bad either. Season 2 is confirmed...HELL YEAH! There's still more than enough content from the manga to adapt, so we can wait for more otaku greatness to come back. https://x.com/ririsa_official/status/1867570175202963601 |

Good episode. It seems that Mayuri managed to convince Okumura to finally gave "3D women" a chance after he learned about his childhood friend's feelings. The show was enjoyable and I learned a bit about cosplay. The girls manage to be sexy and cute at the same time. I'm curious to see which one will win the MC over in the future. It'll be a close competition between Mikari and Ririsa but I have a hunch that Ririsa will win although I'd like to see the childhood friend win for once. I'll definitely be here for the next season. |

It's crazy to think Mikari and Ririsa growing that much closer and Okumura having an entire dimension to his worldview reopened could've been a timeline where Mikari went inside and was forced to face Okumura in her worst possible mental state if Ririsa never stopped her. And man, turtle Mikari is freaking adorable lol There was only one possible way they could've announced Season 2 and the madmen actually pulled through, and I couldn't be happier. LILIEEEEEEEL!!!!! |

Really quite enjoyed the story. Feels like it's been ages since I've seen an anime about otaku or cosplaying. The characters were all really likeable, I don't think there was a single one I wasn't fond of. Unfortunately the outrageous amounts of censorship soured my mood on more than one occasion so I'll have to deduct a few points from my final score. S2 decision was a surprise though I've got mixed feelings about it. Maybe I'll just stick to the manga this time around. |

Man I can’t believe Nigoriri is done! This show totally defied expectations. Never was the goonbait I thought it would be and ended up being extremely wholesome and relatable story about teenagers coming into their own and the importance of finding your niche. Gonna miss these girls so much. Can’t wait for season 2! Perfect ending to the season. No OP, straight into the confession drama with Mikarin and like so many other moments this season it was handled with a great deal of maturity and care. Mikarin finally opening up to Ririsa and the two of them bonding over their mutual love of Okumura was great. For someone like Mikarin who’s held those feelings in for a decade, it had to feel absolutely amazing to finally be able to share how she feels and why she loves him so much. Also Mikarin calling Ririsa her friend was so cute ๐ญ BUT WTF OKUMURA HEARD THAT??! This show continues to be non conventional in how it handles everything and I LOVE IT rather than having him continue to be oblivious, this forced Okumura to finally confront his own issues and the trauma of his mother leaving and finally open his heart to those around him who care for him. Beautiful scene. I love sensei telling him that people can grow on you essentially too. A lot of romance anime has these perfect couples that have loved each other forever, but in the real world it don’t always work that way. Sometimes you go from seeing someone as a friend or not being interested in them to really liking them! Note that when she’s talking about romance she’s thinking of her best friend, I knew she was a lesbian ๐ฉ let’s goo All that leading up to Okumura finally capturing what makes Ririsa’s Liliel unique on camera, her love for him. Great picture. Great end to the episode and amazing seasonal, wow. Season 2 can’t come soon enough, but fuck I don’t wanna see any of the girls get heartbroken or rejected, harem ending please lmao. |

So to round out the Season 1 finale this episode covers chapters 68-70 of volume 9 with only two chapters remaining. This is a good stopping point as the next arc will cover the school festival. I'm not surprised that a second season for confirmed since there is plenty material for it and two more girls are going to join the cosplay harem. At first I thought this was going to be a typical harem romcom and I was kinda worried about the lack of romance between Okumura and Ririsa. Now we have seen character development between the male and female leads along with the side characters so I'm curious to see how their relationships play out. This is a series that has put a lot of heart into the message that they are trying to convey to their audience. I had a great time reading the manga alongside the anime and by the time Season 2 comes out I might be caught up on the series. 8/10 Speaking of cosplay, I'm currently attending Anime Weekend Atlanta(AWA) which is the largest anime convention in the Southeast United States and this is my first time attending an anime convention. There were many cosplayers, I haven't seen any Lilliel cosplayers yet. Day one had some interesting panels and now I'm ready for Day 2. https://awa-con.com/ |

Hot damn, combining the emotional heart of the show with the beach arc. I approve. Aria is still the stand out beauty of the show, but I think maybe Mikari may be the best girl for Masamune, followed by Aria, becasue Ririsa and Nonoa are too far behind on their emotional development. The last two episodes bumped the show up a point for me. Season announced https://myanimelist.net/anime/60510/25-jigen_no_Ririsa_2nd_Season |

I thought that no future episode could top the emotions and beautiful writing of Aria's reunion with her dad. Oh boy was I wrong. The only part I kinda expected was Ririsa's reaction to Mikari feelings. I did not expect at all that Okumura would overhear them. The conversation with the sensei felt so real, perhaps one of the most mature speech on love I've seen in a while in an anime. Okumura going through all these emotions and finally growing up a little bit was amazing and very beautiful to see, and so was Ririsa inner thoughts at the end when she admits to herself what she really feels for her senpai. No idea how the story will go from there, because we have Okumura maybe not completely opposed to the idea of dating Mikari, or at least ready to think about it, after his talk with their sensei. But, on the other hand Ririsa is now quite aware of her feelings (even though she thinks it will always be one-sided), and let's not forget about Aria. Overall, the show felt very solid and beautifully written more often than not in this second half. The first half also had some qualities, but it seems as if we're only reaching what the story is really about just now. Looking forward to see how these characters continue to grow (and struggle) with their feelings in the second season :) |

"This is the worst thing I could have done". Maybe yes. This could have created so much unnecessary drama between all three of them but glad that didn't happen. Ririsa managed the situation well. Again it's sad to see how much wasted efforts Mikari put in but he still neither able to make Okamura notice nor she can't give up on him. Good to see both of them share their mutual liking of him so fondly. "If it's not then Senpai's love for Lilleal won't be real which I know it is" Ririsa understands what need to be understood about him. That's why she is the best girl. But happy to see any sort of animosity is cleared and Mikari and Ririsa keep being good friends (and rivals too at same time?) Okamura hearing and coming to know about Mikari was certainly huge shock. The fact that he thinks he doesn't have option but reject her which will make things bad really hurt him. But Mayuri sensei came up clutch. She really made his thoughts clear. Atleast some anime finally said it about how not every romance is about building up a fairly tale story which culminates at proposal, yes when done well those are outstanding but starting to fall for someone while dating is more realistic. Okamura finally understand that and thanks to sensei he maybe just now start to see 3D girls(it's cringe everytime mentioned) more positively. Also Mayuri x Eri confirmed let's go.. Atleast this helps Okamura in photography, ngl this 2d-3d-2.5d sometimes is confusing in what they try to achieve while cosplaying, Aria said best it's way too advanced. But I think it's about adding uniqueness about individual cosplayer. And Ririsa also admits her feelings about Okamura as well. She thinks she has no chance and tries to keep that hidden but atleast she can show while cosplaying.. And you never know it's called 2.5D Ririsa for a reason.. This show was such a good welcome surprise. I thought it will be more degen MDL. But after initial few episodes things kept on getting better and better. The character development, drama and conclusions to each of the girls arcs were outstanding. Despite the delusions Okamura still a very good mc who chips in when needed. Idgaf about censorship if the show is good enough well it was more than that. Cosplay elements were actually made fun unlike sometimes boring it out like MDL and Otaku stuff of everything is done best in any anime I have seen atleast. The voice acting was very impressive specially when mattered in those emotional scenes and JC Staff absolutely cooked with animation and story structure. Ririsa absolutely top top tier waifu and every other girls are great too. 8.8/10 It was 6 months of PEAK. Hope 2nd season comes soon Lilleallllllll... |

The best thing that could have happened was Okumura overhearing Mikari and Ririsa’s conversation and learning that Mikari has always been in love with him. Even though it’s unlikely that Mikari will end up with Okumura (a shame, as she’s my favorite), this revelation brought significant growth to Okumura. It made him realize that there are people who appreciate and have feelings for him. This growth is a big step forward, and I hope that the confirmed second season dives deeper into Okumura’s past, particularly what happened with his mother to cause his trauma with 3D girls. Overall, this was a good anime. The ecchi elements initially caught my attention, but the story, characters, and insights into the world of cosplay kept me hooked. |

Solid development for Okumura this episode! Damn, Mayura-sensei's explanation got across to me as well, xD. Angel not limited to 2D but not exactly 3D so 2.5D, I figured it'd come to this at some point but didn't think it'd be now and pulled off this well. Ririsa's revelation in the end there though, it seemed like Okumura figured the core but it turned out to be much more simple than that? Who knows, lol. Maybe a round 2 required to break out of that shell, and with S2 already on its way, there's hope! Aria-chan's arc soon to follow, I imagine. I started this just for the Otaku vibes and had next to no expectations, but it turned out to be pretty decent. Would've preferred better animation of course but they got the Physics part right so what more can I ask xD. Jokes aside, a lot of the character exploration and depth impressed me. More LILIEL, I'm excited! |

Hmm I feel like something went wrong here. Like from a moral standpoint. Like: Mikari realized that pushing on her feelings for Senpai by checking on Ririsa is not just a strategical blunder from her part (since now Ririsa realizes her own feelings), but as a friend it's morally wrong since she's pushing it so aggressively. The anime pointed that out, so that's good. (well, but Mikari's a teenager, too, so I'm more than willing to forgive her here.) Having Sensei trying to push the ship towards Mikari using the excuse of "oh that's normal in a relationship. These days people do try out relationship first before actually falling in love" feels.. not right? Or if anything it feels more like the author's personal take on similar situation? I know Sensei picked up on Mikari's feelings for Okumura like since the first time she met her personally, but... idk? It doesn't feel right? It feels like by pushing Okumura towards Mikari's side, she's pushing Okumura to grow as a human being but she's pushing Ririsa to grow as a perfect cosplayer. and then the story decided to try to push Ririsa - Okumura romance on a more... it feels parasocial, so to say. In a way: it's the same vibe as what Mikari had as a premise, as a character. So to me it feels morally wrong because the author, self-inserting as Sensei here, tried to push the ship towards Mikari, by flipping the table and the resolution that should have been hers into Ririsa, and giving Ririsa's resolution to Mikari. And that's after spending so many episodes (so many chapters) on introducing at least 2 (potentially 3, Sensei as a character totally got skipped here) potential love interests too. and after this I suspect they just gonna flip the table again, since now Ririsa has gotten emotional and maybe slightly giving up on the situation, while Okumura came out with that stupid conclusion that was... indecisive conclusion because story is not ending yet, we gotta prolong him as a character. It just left a premise of big drama in which Ririsa can't help anymore and she gets aggressive over the situation. From there, whoever gets the heartbreak, the taste won't be as good, since it's not... logical for the character development of the losing heroines. (which, atm, is still Mikari, because Okumura certainly has no interest in her at all, and even after the author self-insert himself as Sensei, the author then pull a "I don't understand Mikari's feelings at all" on Okumura) ps.: or idk. maybe I'm just over-critical because I totally don't share Sensei's pov there + that pov was continuation for that one scene where Sensei realized Mikari's love and decided to act on it (following the Schoolhead's advice on education, Sensei's previous char development), while at the same time ignoring the whole Okumura x Sensei moment that happened right after that Sensei's Mikari revelation scene as merely a joke bait. You simply don't throw adulting into a highschooler. That's too soon for them. (That's too soon for Sensei, too, actually. She's 22.) |

Quite the banger of a finale, starting with that great moment between Ririsa and Mikari, Ririsa may have been her usual silly self there but I think she handled that with utmost care, I knew there was no truly putting anything between these two for long. But man poor Mikari tho, loving Okumura all this time has been painful for her, she’s even went as far as trying to find reasons to hate Okumura but just can’t make herself do it, but hopefully after Hanyuu Sensei’s chat with Okumura (which ended in some glorious waterworks lol) he could potentially start seeing Mikari in the way she sees him, it’s just unfortunate she probably still won’t win lol, funny how in that conversation about love in real life not working the way it does in fiction we got an example of that “the one” right here with Ririsa, but maybe I can be proved wrong if all the girls do end up getting a very real chance with Okumura over just Ririsa in the series named after her lol. And to end things off for now, we got one last photo session between Okumura and Ririsa after his newfound understanding (well, kinda lol, he ain’t all there yet), and yeah that was a hot pic alright, Okumura was already taking banger pics with manga accuracy but this one had a different kind of greatness, he truly captured 2.5D Ririsa there, not just Lilliel. And then it’s back to the club room after that emotional beach trip, to scream for Lilliel once again lol, perfectly balanced as all things should be, along with a Season 2 announcement in the episode, MAL already spoiled that for me through email but hell yeah man, so glad we already got that confirmation, I can’t wait for more. And that was the cosplay girlfriends anime, I went into this one knowing I’d love it already because I’m a huge fan of harem anime but it really ended up being a lot more than that with all the SoL style info on cosplayers and their world, it’s a world I am super unfamiliar with besides the surface level stuff, but I can easily say I left this show with a lot more respect than I already had for cosplayers, it really is a culture of its own, and I loved learning about it through the beautiful babes of this show, along with our boy Okumura who may just be one of the best harem MCs out there. Yeah it kinda sucked that this show had quite a bit of censorship early on, it definitely leaves a bad mark on it, but thankfully it didn’t hurt it too much for me because the show is so good otherwise, that and there still was some nice fanservice anyway. Now here at the end, I think if I had to pick a best girl it would have to be Ririsa, I like them all of course but she just hits perfectly for me, that could change in Season 2 but I’m confident in this choice for now. And as for my favorite songs, I think rn it’s OP1>OP2 and the EDs are equal, yes I missed the dance ED but I loved the more melancholic ED a lot too, it really felt like it was the end. And with that, I await the 2nd season and whatever other great harem anime come our way! |

While the final episode (of S1) was somewhat weak since it was left open at least a 2nd season was confirmed so props for that. This series as a whole was decent but after reading the first 2 chapters of the manga I was disappointed at how heavily censored the adaptation was and I don't think that the anime deserves the ecchi tag for that. Beyond the censorship this had some good moments but also some cringe moments when certain scenes were exaggerated. Overall I give this a 6/10 and hope that the 2nd season improves over the 1st with less censorship but I won't hold my breath. Also, Mikari is best girl IMO. |

A lot more drama this episode than I thought, at least Mikari and Ririsa know about each other now. That "Liliel!" in the end was a bit weird though ^^; I expected something similar to My Dress Up Darling from this show. Less romance, more ecchi. Instead I got less ecchi and it was pretty much worse in every aspect you could think of. Still doesn't make it a bad show, but also not something amazing. 6/10 |

I binged it back when it was added to mangaplus. At the time I thought it was a cute, okay series. Then it dovetailed into some really bad drama and seeing it again weekly in the anime made the early drama parts worse because I was seeing them weekly instead of binging it and getting it out of the way quickly |
