The wildest first chapter I have read in recent memory. Extremely xenophobic and black pilled but I am hooked to see if they commit to the extremely prejudice setup or if this somehow turns around and tries to redeem the main duo. |

Definitely weird start... like main characters are so xenophobic and into conspiracy theory that I don't know how interpreted this work. Having abusive boss isn't some "foreign thing", same with car accidents. Like if author really wanted to show aliens to be bad-bad he could easily do it and not offscreen/suggest it. WSJ few years ago was publishing manga with even more obvious xenophobic undertone... so I can believe in editorial team give greenlight to xenophobic/racist series but I really want to believe author is planning something more... like FMC being 17 years old "runaway" in hard situation being easily manipulated by bad influence or different stuff. |

@EtherLux Its very clearly not. Its actually an anti-colonialism story from the perspective of the colonized and oppressed. The aliens came to earth as "saviors" having saved the earth from a meteor (which the male MC says they could have made up / staged), gave gifts of technology, then usurped power and control. Afterward they oppressed the humans as the working class, stole the resources, and have zero accountability allowing them to get away with murder as most humans either worship them or fear them. That is literally textbook colonialism that has been documented for centuries. The MCs are basically fighting for their freedom from oppression and literally "eating the rich". That is completely different from "Japanese xenophobia". |

@Yuri_Niji I think people are fine to express their feelings on a series, but the reaches are a little entertaining to say the least considering it's literally a single chapter only being published right now. Regardless, someone felt emotion reading a manga, that's all that matters really. |

When I read the premise, it seemed similar to Gintama. But it's not really. There are some immigration and occupation themes and stuff like that, might turn out interesting. I'm curious if the author has some kind of political message/ personal opinion to convey here, or if it's for fun only. Some parts seem a bit how do you say, sussy. The ending was bizarre. Until we learn more about the aliens it seems like the main characters are just straight up immoral lol. The cliffhanger works. Is the person with the braids a woman or a man? |

@JoelSavvi Honestly, I think that taking what the main characters say at face value isn't the right approach to understanding the story, considering how they're both murderers targeting aliens. The talk about the meteorite being faked is, at least in my opinion, supposed to parallel holocaust denial and also the 2 people saying it are obviously racist so it should be taken with a grain of salt. The worst things humans have to experience is alien only apartments and having to pay for parking while aliens don't which is not even close to being an oppressive colonialist society. The only reason the MC is poor is because they work a shitty job, not because she's oppressed by aliens. Most of the aliens in the story don't even behave especially colonialist, most of them are just assholes who do regular asshole stuff(drunk drive, bump into people and not apologize, being a shitty boss). Despite this, she constantly blames all of her problems on aliens and feels no remorse as they commit cannibalism and murder aliens because they don't see them as humans only because they annoy her, hence the title of drama queen. It's still too early to tell if the author is trying to make a villain MC or if they genuinely believe they're in the right, but calling it anti-colonialist is kinda absurd |

@jane4real I'm not taking anything at face value, not even close. Taking it at face value is reading the series and saying "these people say awful things and kill an aliean, so they are bad people" without even bothering to ask any questions. If you look into the series of events that take place, how they impacted the characters and their society, and their reasonings for hating the aliens it is beyond obvious the characters see the world and themselves under foreign occupation by a colonizing species of aliens. The aliens hit basically every single requisite for colonisation. 1. They showed up to earth, just at the "right time", to save humans from destruction and became their "saviours". Many instances of colonization throughout history were started by religious missionaries coming in peace "to save lesser beings" from disease (which they caused), addiction (which they also caused), and "an inferior, godless way of life". 2. They immediately instilled themselves in human society, taking key positions in government, industry, and influence. This is literally just Colonization 101. 3. This has mostly just been hinted at, but we did get dialogue during the beach scene that implies after the aliens arrived their way of life was drastically changed. Every day things like fishing, eating meat, walking the beach were no longer something people did. It is also implied that local ecology changed given the fish they caught were extremely small, deformed, and implied to be extremely scarce. It is also implied humans are now just the working class. Also Colonisation 101. Besides stealing just power and taking control, Colonizers ALWAYS eradicate the original people's way of life. Sometimes it is done slowly, but the intent is there. 4. The aliens influenced public perception, not just by "saving" the humans, but by giving them gifts of technology like space travel. This was ripped straight our of the Colonial European Playbook (minus space travel) when they colonized the Americas 5. The aliens are immune to ANY consequences as the humans either "worship" or fear the aliens. We see this both with the female MC getting fired for just being near her boss when he burst into flames, and the male MC when his family was killed by an assumed drunk alien. This goes back to the power and influence part, but it was common for Colonial Europeans to do unspeakable acts to or even murder Native Americans with often no consequences. If something bad happened to an Colonizer, guilt of any nearby Native American was immediately assumed. 6. The fucking literal "eating the rich" metaphor. This was the most obvious allusion that seems to be going over everyones head. While that is more so anti-capitalist messaging, given the colonizers own the industry it also becomes anti-colonist. - So now please try and tell me after reading that how a story about two (possibly delusional) people that are fed up with a foreign occupation that has changed their soceity, their lives, their families is "absurd and not anti-colonialist"... |

a bit of a controversial opinion, but this first chapter wasn't nearly as bad as people said it would be. Theres definitely racism, and its clearly blatant, but its not like this is the first time such a topic has been brought up in an anime/manga before, take Emilia in Re:Zero or the animal-human hybrids in MHA, even the Saijin clan in Bleach as examples. I guess the only difference right now is that the main characters are actually racist, but who knows if it could change later down the ladder. The part that I hated the most was the when we see the parts of the body slowly dwindle as they feast on the alien. Once again, I do not share any of these radical ideals myself, but when I heard twitter (now X) talking about this first chapter, I was under the impression that it would be a whole lot worse. Who knows, maybe its because I can't empathize with the aliens that I can't understand the deeper message, but time will tell if that changes. And before I go, I would like to add its never okay to discriminate against someone because of their appareance. Thats all I have to say regarding this one shot. |

@Dragosama This is legit sidestepping my point. It's not very well written and this isn't how you sale a story to someone if everyone is unlikable and your goal is to justify the shitty behavior. I'm not acting like characters like that don't exist but you usually kind of wait a couple of chapters to do that. The problem with this story is if the goal is to get me to root for them that has fallen a part already as you are making clear they are just bigoted assholes with a jaded worldview. So saying, "Yeah and?" Is very childish and kind of shows a lack of media literacy with you my man. You gotta make your characters likable. This is why people had an issue with Redo of Healer and even Re:Monster. The story is frame to get you to root for them as the author justifies their actions. This author is doing the same thing. That's not very good writing and you are just pushing your obvious anti-immigration agenda onto the reader. Some of you kids will learn one day how to write likable characters. Twitter mfs were losing their shit saying this manga is racist af, and I really only saw the same like, 2 pages being posted to "support" that. After actually reading it to see what all the buzz was about, I agree with others that it feels more anti-colonialist if anything. Like, I get why people find some of the undertones racist, but it looks like this is just another case of Twitter being Twitter lol. Clickbait outrage for the sake of outrage lmao, blown out of proportion by interaction farmers. Such drama queens, pun intended lol. Well hey, just 1 chapter in and this series has sparked controversy, even if said controversy is mild at best, so it's got that going for it rn. @JoelSavvi Nah. The protagonists aren't fighting against people in positions of power. They're killing and eating random aliens on the street for being rude. The main characters are clearly not meant to be good people. They are DRAMA QUEENS becoming serial killers over because some rich expats are rude to them. Like yeah obviously there's social problems with the aliens and a lot of them ARE shitty, but the protagonists are still in the wrong here lol. |

I loved it. It tackles social issues with extremely valid criticisms while also having the protagonist go so hilariously overboard with their hateful reactions that you can’t help but chuckle at it. The tittle is very fitting. It shows a society that doesn’t allow anyone to speak against their diversity agenda to the point the heroine “fells bad for thinking bad things”. It’s censorship working at it’s finest and it really did hit home. That said, I don’t think anyone was supposed to agree that it’s totally cool to murder a legally privileged minority just because they bumped into you lmao. The cause they are fighting seems just and grounded in reality, but it’s not like the average alien chose this shit as well. They’re normal people who get privileges because some stupid fucking regimen decided as much. It’s unreasonable to get mad AT THEM for it. Hence the “Drama Queen” tittle. Yeah, her boss was a bitch and “they’re taking our jobs”, but that random NPC women seemed to be dating an alien just fine, so yeah, they’re likely just normal joes. I like this perspective. It’s very different from the usual “diversity makes strength” viewpoint, which I find charming for a change. The protagonist are also obvious psychos, which is hilarious. Bro found a racist girlfriend and they’re both having fun bonding by venting their intrusive thoughts. How often do you get to see this shit in media? Lmao. |

Everyone says "Eat the Rich" but when it actually happens THEN IT IS SUDDENLY A Problem With all the controversy I've seen on the english side of anitwitter, I thought it was gonna be WAY worse not gonna lie (the spanish speaking side has been taking it better), Kinda feels more like a story of gentrificiation/colonialism rather than racism againts immigrants (in a "punching up vs punching down" way) but that is probably because of stuff I have heard from people in the more "tourist/expat" heavy areas of my country and also i'm a Frieren fan so... Even then, the manga itself paints the duo in a bad light. If it doesn't get axed due to the controversy, there is probably gonna be an Alien antagonist later on that makes the duo reconsider their beliefs, but for that they have to set those beliefs up to begin with and that is what they are doing right now. It's gonna be interesting seeing bad people do bad shit like it's modded GTA for however much it lasts. |

I don't care about any kind of controversy or whatsoever. This is the worst fucking writing I've seen in my life, like genuinely middle school tier of writing. Main girl states the exact same thing several times in the first 20 pages, she talks to herself like a schizo to infodump about things she's already aware of, alien boss speaks another language because author can't be bothered to write a proper controntation, the main duo's dialogue is entirely "I hate aliens I hope they die", "how did you get my adress" "found it online" okay I guess lmao doxing master, "I've just beaten someone to death" what are the expected reactions: "what the hell?" "was there any witness?" "do you know what you incur withing the law". The actual reactions : "the law? what is it, I guess death sentence" "I don't see this thing as a person" and "LETS EAT IT". Any character goal apart from eating meat (nice fujimoto ripoff btw)? Any background apart from the "I dont live with my parents" and "I had a sister"? If we go with the main character narrator route surely we could get the NAME of the aliens with the exposition dump? "The world is rotten, I can't forgive them, I wish they disappeared" okay Sasuke what about going back to 2008 when this was considered decent writing? Quite a shame to be honest because this might be an interesting concept and I find this artstyle more tolerable than Kagurabachi for example but this writing is excruciating level of bad and is the worst blend of trying to imitate fujimoto at his worse and zoomer-tier shonen tropes. If I was an editor this would be axed in 2 chapters if the plot wasn't given more substance, however because it will generate absurd amount of money because of culture war bullshit, this might go on further than it deserve. |
