Did I miss something? How did Ruby jump to the conclusion that Aqua is looking for a murderer? I mean, she could consider it a possible reason for his actions, but from what I saw, she didn’t have proof to be 100% sure (only Akane's answer, but again, 'because there’s someone he wants to meet in showbiz' doesn’t necessarily mean he’s looking for a murderer). And funnily enough, because of that conclusion, she’ll now think Aqua is continuing his investigation, but he isn’t.

Well for anime onlies I hope you’re ready because season 3 is where the hype for oshi no ko really gets going. Season 2 was way more enjoyable in anime form for me with the play not being one of my fave parts of the manga, but the detective drama and unravelling the mystery of Ai’s murder and the twins father in s3 is gonna be amazing. Shoutout to Doga Kobo for the amazing job they did here.

Finale in general was perfect, had some of my most anticipated moments of the season and perfectly brought them to life. Aqua dumbass finally appreciating what he got in front of him with the Akane and all she’s done for him, that kiss was everything for me 😭 the way Akane couldn’t even focus in the bath because she was thinking about it is so cute I love her sm

While Akane on cloud nine though, Ruby descending to hell. Her black star awakening scene was so good, no one does these moments like Doga Kobo. I can’t wait to see her quest for revenge in season 3. Her going from this happy go lucky idol stan to cold and calculated character will be fun.

Pop in 2 performance was really good. I need a real life ILLIT x B Komachi collab lol.

That ending montage!! 15 year lie reference and some other massive stuff from later in the manga+ Kamiki doing what he does best, being a murderous psycho. Can’t wait for season 3 man. Doga Kobo really cooked with this one and elevated the story. The best is yet to come though!

It's so weird seeing the twins switching roles. In season 1, Aqua wanted revenge while Ruby moved on, but now in the end of season 2, Ruby now wants revenge while Aqua has now moved on

I really enjoyed this season and am excited for what’s to come with Ruby’s new found drive and how Aqua and Akane get involved.

But I’m confused as to how Ruby and Aqua don’t talk about it. Maybe they’ve just delayed showing until next season? It seems obvious to me that Ruby would confront Aqua now that she has an idea of what he’s been up too. I’d expect Aqua to check in on Ruby too after what happened with the dead body.

I was honestly expecting them to confront one another and ask who they were in their past lives. It seemed like that was what the plot was building up too.

As this season ends, Ruby's revenge arc begins. It's haunting to see someone usually so cheerful pushed over the edge by trauma, yet still understandable.

I really enjoyed B-Komachi's MV and how it was presented, especially with those flashes of Dark Ruby. It's the perfect combination of cute and scary.

And it's only fitting that we end on a shot of our beloved twins' dear murderous father, showing he's still a threat who needs to be dealt with.

Review: I know I'm probably too generous with 10/10 scores, but this is one of my easiest. Tokyo Blade was phenomenonal and these Miyazaki episodes were a great lead-in for S3.

I loved how the end of this season gives way to Ruby's arc, the details and the beginning of her quest to find out more, it's incredible.

I loved too much the detail of the black flash in her eyes in the video clip makes a lot of sense as it implies that it was filmed at two points in the journey where Ruby pre discovery of the corpse and post discovery.

Ain't gonna sugar code it, the first season was better.

I didn't really enjoy the Tokyo Blade arc, which is about 75% of the season, and I feel like the actual anime started with episode 9, at which point it is pretty much over. I respect them for adapting everything, including the Tokyo Blade arc, so I guess the thing that frustrates me the most is that we only got 13 episodes and the characters' positions are even more shaky than they were at the beginning of the season. The season ended on an unsatisfying point, there is that dude killing people, Aqua has quit searching for the killer, what is Ruby doing I don't know, I guess she is rooting for Aqua to find the killer and that's it?

Speaking of Tokyo Blade arc, I've heard people say that the anime is too pretentious/preachy, but imo, who's really pretentious are the fans who create posts like the example below.

Acting like they watched some documentary and gained astounding knowledge is ridiculous, and if you found it boring, you're apparently not of very high intelligence and just want "action".

Kinda disappointed with Aqua as a character, I get that he's no Lelouch, but why was he constantly spilling the beans to Akane for no reason. There were also a good amount of cringe worthy momments, including his “pain acting” method.

Nooo Kanaa!! I was so sure Aqua was going to reject Akane.. I like both honestly, but I'm leaning more towards Kana.

Ruby and Aqua now both share the same goal, but Aqua's still under the notion that their father is dead so it's going to be a bit tricky. Seems to me that Ruby is the one who's going to keep the momentum going, so I'm hoping to see more of Ruby next season.

Their father is just straight up a serial killer, I don't know how the police aren't up on his ass yet. Or maybe they are, but he's just that powerful. Hope next season is more focused on uncovering his identity.

I was so slow on the uptake. I just understood why Ruby bears two black stars after watching the show. I was so indulged with this EP's hype.

Ruby lost 2 of the most precious people to her. I wonder how'd she double down on what Aqua did or more accurately, failed to do. A glimpse of it was seen of this EP's MV. I'm so looking forward for more! Hurray for S3 announcement!!

Good conclusion to the season.
Aqua's a damn fool who can't make up his mind, but at least maybe he has now.
Feel pretty bad for Ruby, a chance encounter with mystery girl started her on a very Aqua-like arc.

The last two episodes gave me shivers and were a fantastic contrast to the previous (mostly) happy stage play episodes. The art, animation and music were all on point and the scene with Ruby in the water was intense, and the talk between her and Akane before sleeping, massive chills.
They're really ramping up the murder mystery now and I'm loving it. Can't wait for season 3.

Holy shit... This episode was packed with content and was full of peak. This shit is one of the best episodes I have seen. Aqua needs to wake up to reality and find out that his father isn't actually dead. And Ruby entered her dark period arc. I enjoyed this episode too much, and I was shocked, and a few emotions really woke up. I am excited for season 3. I hope they announce when it is going to release. But, most likely, it is going to be somewhere in 2025.

I'd been pretty disappointed with this show but the last 3 episodes have completely made up for it. Delivered plot in spades and you really get a feeling of palpable danger. I'm not sure what to make of the crow girl and even less of the girl that died at the end, but I hope that turns out to be interesting and worthwhile.

On another note, finally Aqua realized what a complete goddess he had in front of him. Someone who was willing to back him up all the way and could be his friend, companion and partner in crime as well as being a total bishoujo. Kana really doesn't work as a romantic interest for Aqua. Alas, at the first sign of the mystery popping up again, I think Aqua will offload Akane mentally again and go revenge mode. He's just built like that.

So in the end we got 1 good episode and 2 great in this season. And those were actually the last three episodes.
The rest of the season 2 (episodes 1-10) can be easily skipped without any major loss.
From where we are standing now whole theatre arc felt like filler as it didn't really move the story or characters forward, and character dynamics were mostly the same at the end of S1.

As such, it's 6/10 for a seasons since those 3 or 4 great episodes can't save the rest.

But man, those two last episodes were pretty awesome. Even though we got more questions than answers. It almost felt like way too much happened in close succession

We now know that:
- Their father is some kind of psycho who targets idols. He is deranged from his birth, probably reincanated, similiarly to Aqua/Ruby. Black eyes genes are probably from him.
- He was ~13yo when he slept with Ai and got her pregnant with twins.
- The crow girl is reincarnated too, possibly at time around Ai's death since she looks younger. She is probably their step-sister, with their father being the same. He soul is either of that idol we saw dead in the end or of the nurse from the hospital, also killed.
- Akane is good at manipulating people (emotional blackmail), forcing him to her side when she gave him the idea Kanna is no go. They are kinda fit for each other, possibly having more things in common, but not in a good way. It's her dream come true but he won't be happy in this relationship.

Felt great for them revisiting their birthplace (finally, took a while). The dark atmoshpere was abundant there and very well done. Almost ominous.

Feel sad for Kanna having her crush stolen. But maybe she still has a hope in the future? Not sure if Aqua is the right one though.

Also, not sure how I feel about them forcing Ruby into the same spiral Aqua drowned in. But I guess up to this point she was mostly unrelevent to the plot otherwise.
(I'm mainly frustrated the author used the same plot device yet again)
And it was also kinda strange to use supernatural girl with knowledge of everything to push her that way. Deus ex machina.
In a way it kinda make sense as Ruby never settled with Ai's death internally, unlike Aqua but it was only because she didn't experience whole thing first hand.

Was kinda hoping they would finally learn about each's past selves but I guess this wasn't meant to be so soon.
They could at least gave them some sister on brother conversation at least, since now we will have to wait for this resolution all year long until season 3.

Ruby having black eyes in produced MV was... I guess it was pretty fitting but still hard to swallow.

Wow, what a great ending, very good.

Could it be said that now the roles change and the revenge now revolves around Ruby? If so, it would be tremendous cinema 🚬

Aqua and Akane are now a real couple, right? I'm interested in knowing how they will change their way of interacting, and of course, see how everything happens with Kana...

But here the most important thing is: WE HAVE A THIRD SEASON CONFIRMED!!! LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

More Ruby screentime!

Ruby and Aqua did not talk AT ALL about this incident? Huh.. atleast she figured out Aquas motivation I guess.

Why do I have the feeling Aqua only kissed Akane to stop her from figuring out the connection here? I thought for sure she would make the link between the doctor and Aquas "friend" who went missing. He tricked her quite well by making her think this was the guy he was looking for.

Anyway, its officially Kanover!

I cant wait to dive right into the manga, but I will miss the production quality of this anime. The animation, the sparkle.. the OST. All was great, even the idol song was pretty nice.

Amazing season, I likes this one a little more than s1.
As for the final episode, I do hope Aqua and Akane are actually in a relationship and not in a mutual benefit arrangement again. Akane really seems to be in love with Aqua and I hope it's reciprocated.
As for Ruby, it seems the vengeance plot will now be with her at the center of it. I wonder if Aqua will find out about this and join her or if it's a one-girl show.
What I really want to know is who the hell is crow girl. Is she a ghost or a real person, and if so, how does she know so much about Ruby's previous life? I can't wait to see how all this ties together.
Here's hoping season 3 comes out next year.

Season 1 - Spring 2023
Season 2 - Summer 2024
Season 3 - Fall 2025?

I thought this episode was well done except that I didn't like that Akane seemed to imply she wouldn't tell Aqua or Ruby about the the loophole she had discovered when Aqua mistakenly concluded that the murderer was dead but at least Ruby was able to deduce that Aqua is/was looking for the murderer before Akane changed her tone regarding who Aqua was looking for. On that note I imagine that Ruby will probably raise that subject with Aqua in S3 and hopefully that will help kick start Aqua's hunt for the murderer as he has struck again as shown by the final scene. Hopefully by then Akane will detail the loophole if Aqua and Ruby don't figure it out on their own.

Regarding the girl that got murdered, she reminded me of crow girl as their hair color looks similar and whether or not she's the crow girl I do wonder who she was as she knows a lot of information regarding Ai's murderer and accomplice(s). My only guess is that she was also reincarnated and may have worked in the hospital during the time of Ai's pregnancy.

Anyways, this was a great season to this masterpiece of a series. Ngl, I liked S1 a bit more but S2 was still great, it's just that I thought that the first half with the play dragged on a bit too much but the 2nd half was the main reason I became enamored with this series. 9/10

Nice finale, cool developments with Ruby but I do hate to see things turn out this way for her, she was so happy and carefree but now she’s roped into her own revenge and is similar to how Aqua was at the start of the show, can’t lie tho that the river scene was awesome lol, music video scenes where you could tell it was after she changed were cool too. She also found out that Aqua has been on a revenge path, a bit surprised since she never seemed like the really smart type but I guess revenge will do that to people, maybe lol, but it does remind me a bit of Rena from Higurashi who was also smart despite her happy go lucky usual self.

Some other big things this episode like Akane getting smooched up, not sure if this means she wins the love war for sure but for now that’s an absolute win, I’m glad Aqua realized just how amazing she is, now if only he’d wife her up immediately lol, I feel bad for Kana finding out but not as much as I’m happy for Akane. And the music video paired with the song was very nice, hopefully they have a full version of that somewhere eventually if it doesn’t already exists, the video itself was very cool too. And lastly, that after credits scene man, so this bastard is out here murdering more people huh, yeah he’s a fuck alright lol, really hope he gets what’s coming to him some time down the line, that poor girl.

And that was the 2nd season of the behemoth that is Oshi no Ko, and much like the first season I really enjoyed it, Doga Kobo done an amazing job. Yeah I get that it kinda sucks the stage play arc took up a lot of time and didn’t do much for the revenge plot, but the play arc was awesome on its own and was a big part of developing three of the main characters, being Kana, Akane and Aqua, not to mention Melt who had an absolute glow-up, as well as the new character for the arc Abiko who changed a lot by the end of it. Thankfully tho we did get some focus on the revenge here near the end of the season, and although it was a handful of episodes, it was really good, really got me hyped for the 3rd season. And the OP and ED definitely hold a candle to the first season’s songs, I think I still prefer the first OP but this season’s ED easily wins over the first, such cool visuals and the song was so damn good, worked so well coming off each episode, especially here near the end, Hitsujibungaku is quickly becoming a favorite group of mine.

And now I await the 3rd season, my guess is it’ll be either Fall 2025 or Winter 2026, it’s insane to think about that far away but really it’s not far off lol, time is wild.

I'm so glad the show is back on the stuff that made it so popular in the first place. I do wonder if the Tokyo Blade stuff will ultimately serve a purpose but at this point it feels like it was a massively bloated excuse to have Aqua working toward detective stuff but the writer didn't have much material beyond the double suicide fakeout and couldn't get to that point too quickly without then having to go on hiatus.

That said, because of the Tokyo Blade stuff this felt like a 7-8 episode season so it kind of leaves off a bit limp. Very excited to see where it goes. Seeing Ruby and Aqua reverse roles should be good and Ruby will get to be more of a real character. Hopefully the siblings team up at some point too.
@LotteGiants Outside of the over-arching plot of the revenge. This show is literally about showcasing the entertainment world and the second big aspect is character psychology. That’s what the Tokyo blade arc is for. Showcasing theatre AND the whole Aqua trauma arc. The lore drop about Aqua’s mental state are insane in this arc + the whole Akane joining the investigation, etc.

It’s not just a 7 episode arc just to meet Himekawa, this arc is packed with very important stuff and character growth, while showcasing an entire play, which is part of what makes Oshi no Ko.

Season 2 Finale is finally here and it looks like it is setting up for Ruby’s Arc. First, Akane and Aqua. Aqua finally lets go oh his revenge as he said when talking to Akane. While he is also apologizing for his using and manipulating Akane for his own selfish benefit. Akane already knows but thinks he is breaking up with her. Instead Aqua finally makes the first move to Aqua X Akane ship. Following Rubys side, She is pissed after finding Sensei’s body which is leading her the same way Aqua has been these last 2 season. She also wants revenge. While this is happening in her head, they are doing the video shoots for the New B Komachi Music video and it is doing numbers by the end of the ep. Not bad Finale, hope for Season 3 for be just as or even better than this season.

A very interesting way to end the season. B-Komachi finally got their big moment after all of that, Akane and Aqua are dating for real it seems like, and it feels like Ruby is now sinking into the darkness that was so close to claiming Aqua and that for now he seems to have sidestepped (though of course we know that this is not where it ends).

As for Aqua dating Akane, I assume at least some part of that has to do with him realizing that dating Kana would bring the kind of attention to her that may have been responsible for claiming Ai's life, but it seems like he is perfectly happy with Akane (and Akane on her part also is, obviously).

But Ruby... damn girl, I wish you hadn't gotten so pulled into this shit. And obviously now we are entering the point of the story, based on Aqua's final line of the season, that he finally comes across his father. But I also assume it won't be simple even once the identity becomes clear to him.

P.S.: What in god's name was up with that last post-credits scene lol

Hands down, the best of the season!

Ruby arc has just begun, the main story has just began. There's so much waiting for next season, my hype is at an all time high!

Aqua fading away into the corner as the star eyes faded way in him... Ruby going full berserk as her 2 eyes go dark. I just love this way of representing emotions and showing who's at the center of the stage.

Akane being used... and breaking down... Aqua... you're the WORST.

And the biggest cliffhanger after the post credit scenes... I didn't expect they would show THAT so soon.

10/10

Tsu- I mean Crow Girl making her apparition to Ruby... I'm not going to say anything about it, for now.

those black stars... really wish Ruby gets to keep herself outta harm's way

so Arima gets dumped? that's totally unexpected cuz I thought she was the one to end up with Aqua

bit funny how those black stars r so big they extend onto the skin around the eyes... creepy lol

they must've saved big on the budget by not drawing MEM properly (poor MEM)

also, Aqua & Ruby knew each other's secret since they were babies but 16 years later neither of them knows anything abt the other's previous life... I find that a bit incredible. either I'm being really dumb or the author just didn't bother trying to explain that one away. I think they aren't that close at all... the discovery of the doc's remains cd've triggered a series of interactions between them towards revealing each other's (previous) identity

Like the season as a whole, but disliked the final on pretty much every front.

Pulling out a mystical ghost girl to give Ruby crucial info, in a series that was completely based on realism and hard work up until now is just lazy writing.

Aqua giving poor Kana-chan vague hopes instead of clearly telling her he chose Akane means he is actually becoming a player like his father.

Idol video.. are kids really into cheap effects like this? It didn't use any of the amazing cute shots they took this and last episode.

Ruby got the dark stars, but in this episode the only expression of it was that she lost 2 nights of sleep, and silently wished for Aqua to do all the work. Not much.

Well, big hopes for the next season.

Ruby got the dark stars, but in this episode the only expression of it was that she lost 2 nights of sleep, and silently wished for Aqua to do all the work. Not much.

Well, big hopes for the next season.
@casual42 I've the same concern re. realism but then remember it's a story abt reincarnation

simply hoping the villain will be a kinda of realistic evil instead of logic-defying or supernatural. however based on the after-credit scene I may be in for disappointment
