Well, this episode is reaching its peak with the whole invader drama.

A lot of mind games being played too with that speech about executives and choices to take. Hibiki gave hs response in the most Hibiki way possible. Gotta say though, they're rising the stakes higher than ever. Every choice has a consequence.

Another banger episode. This studio never disappoints with the action scenes. Not a ton of it today, but Yumeko’s fast forward/group attack with the other rangers was so cool as well as Blue Keeper’s divine tool.

D once again showing he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, including stabbing his former boss in the back. Going against Peltrola like that in a direct show of defiance took a TON of balls, mad respect to D. Keep in mind he and the other invaders have basically lived forever with a blind sense of loyalty to the boss monsters.

Of course, just like the keepers, the boss monsters couldn’t care less about little old invaders like D. They’re only out for themselves. It’s about time someone started looking out for the little guy and I love how they showed D’s dream of the future. Wants the world domination and fame, but with coexistence with humans rather than annihilation like the boss monsters want.

These cliffhangers are killing me but they know how to keep you in suspense for sure 😂 need next episode!

Fighter D's dream scene is very important. We get to know his end goal. Yes, he still aims at world domination but his approach is co-existing with human rather than annihilation like boss monster's goal.

Peltrola still is alive, giving both Fighters a sense that one of their Boss Monsters still has a chance. But for XX, having D to protect her as Hibiki, at least he still has a chance to backfire. But forget it, Blue Keeper vs. Peltrola is all but inevitable, with D witnessing the power of one for the first time in a while.

Peltrola being introduced to D via XX, he reassures him of the effort after all of their forces are wiped off the face of the Earth. But D having other plans to backstab Peltrola, it definitely was a Hibiki Sakurama moment of thinking about the humans, forcing XX to question him if he's friend or foe. With the other Junior 1st Rank cadets coming in to assist Blue Keeper, Yumeko's tool being a remote control to adverse time is quite the power tool, though XX only serves as a sacrifice for the greater evil.

In D's semi-conscious sight, coexistence between humans and Loser Rangers is just a far-fetched sight, let alone world domination that he would arise to the top and change things for the better. And in the sight of XX being killed for her loyalty, D is left with a sombering decision. Shion and the rest of the Ranger cadet candidates all also assist, plus Urabe.

D, however, takes his own steps forward to answer the call...the world is his oyster, no matter to take down friend or foe. If anything, D should be the scariest now.

So the cadets and XX get an invite to the banquet in D's ideal world but his Fighter roommates back at the mothership don't? How cold.
The ad of him and XX is adorable tho

Also, symbolism of D maintaining Hibiki's form while stabbing Peltrola is awesome.

D's dream with coexisting with people he cares for, humans or not, was interesting and did explore his internal motivations and conflicts fairly. Still don't like this arc at all but there were things that made this episode better than the past month or two's worth of episodes, even if this still bored me at times earlier on.

This is majorly stupid, basically D chooses to "live his truth" and fight for himself, fair enough, but where is the motivation for this series changing decision, oh wait I know, its in the producers ars, I hate when shows insult the audience's intelligence like this, throughout the entire airing of each episode I've been keeping my fingers crossed hoping the ghost of diminishing returns does not haunt this anime, so much for that I suppose, deadass for the past 9 episodes wasn't he fighting for his race of monsters, wasn't he moaning about being oppressed and used for the rangers' muse, mind you which was already a good story line which made the plot make sense, so just to change the whole motive of the mc without an exposition is criminal, damn near crippling to the whole thing.

@Kamquat420 True, the character motivation does come out of nowhere seemingly. They didn't establish enough to make it feel real. Probably the intention was to heighten its shock value but that feels sloppy this far into the show. 13 years is a long time to be ritually humiliated and draw resentment after all.

I feel like I have no one to root for at this point (maybe just Yumeko since she stayed true to her character and Hibiki that just isn't in the picture any more).

I was okay with D being a tool playing the underdog role. But over the weeks and just plain derailing with this tournament arc I grew tired of him being so useless and unable to move even an inch from his original plan to defeat the Dragon Rangers (it's been all talk and no action). Now he rebels against someone that could had been "used" as an ace under his sleeve and just get rid of Bertrolla once the Rangers weren't the main issue.

Yeah this kinda went bad, as it feels like after the 1 week break the show lost its flair. Doesn't also help that its kinda being all over the place right now and the drop in production is becoming more noticeable. It might be just due to watching it weekly instead of binging, but I hope if there's a second cour that the show fixes itself since it really has potential.

There was a whole flash forward sequence of him thinking about what world domination would be like with Peltrola around. He’s always lived with the idea of world domination because that’s literally how he was made, but after spending time on the surface and meeting people he grew to actually start liking some of his fellow cadets (as seen when they show up as guests in the fake flash forward). He doesn’t want true world domination or wiping out all the humans like Peltrola, he wants a level of coexistence without the Dragon Keepers around.

Wait, Blue Keeper didn't find out Sakurama is actually Fighter D? That's weird.

Fighter D has an existential crisis. Perfect for the moment. We finally get an insight into what world domination is according to Fighter D. It's very unrealistic and childish. Why am I not surprised. But I do like the fact that he's willing to go against his creators, the boss monsters, to realize his ideals. They did abandon him for 13 years after all. I like this more than him simply being a lapdog for monsters with no humanity like XX. It's more badass.

What I don't get is him getting attached to his human mates so much. Like they didn't even interact with each other for that long. That part felt very rushed.

Waiting for the next episode. The cliffhanger was good.

Finally an episode that didn't feel too rushed, but you can definitely tell was still rushed.

Animation when it came to BK and Peltrola's fight was immaculate. About all I can say. Like wtf was that scene where D and XX where rich milloanries...???? lol.

@TheColdMayor Yeah I saw the flashback and quite frankly it wasn't enough, considering the merit of his resentment towards the dragon keepers, at the very least they should've dedicated an episode for him to make up his mind, I'm not against D wanting to fight for his own resolve, the issue is the half assed way in which it happen

and this statement emphasizes my point, the idea of world domination is ingrained in him, its not something you can drop after 1 flashback.
I agree that D made genuine connections with some of the people he met at the surface and I could see him gradually warming up to the idea of coexisting, however in this moment in time too little time has passed and I think his resentment (mainly the subjugation of his species) is stronger than his affection for his surface companions.

First of all I should specify he still does want to defeat the Dragon Keepers, they’re still his enemies but now he just also wants to defeat the bosses on top of that. He’s not gonna go and forgive Sousei for killing F in cold blood all of a sudden because Peltrola’s a dick.

And for the second point, what i meant was he wanted “world domination”, without knowing what it truly was. Now he realizes what world domination actually entails, and it isn’t what he truly wants. His idea of world domination was different than Peltrola’s and the rest of the bosses, which leads him to the conclusion that the bosses are now his enemies too

@TheColdMayor Considering most of the bosses have been decimated don't you think however insufferable Peltrola might be it would've been better to keep him around, the idea of betraying him is beyond me given how weak D is in combat, the ideal scenario was D temporarily shoving his hate for the boss monsters aside and work with Peltrola to defeat the Dragon Keepers, their the same species and their objective align, which leads me to conclude that D is wish washy and is playing Russian roulette with his priorities.

Look I'm not trana be contrarian just for the sake of, I do believe you make some tangible points but by saying "the boss monsters are now his enemies too" without a clear hierarchy to his objectives leaves a bit more to be desired imo, D endured years of torture and devised a plan to change that and now that he's been presented with an opportunity to work with one of the stronger beings of his species what does he do, he fumbles it.

Its entirely possible that I'm the one mistaken here, I'm jut not getting the perspective, somebody on one of the forums I'm on said maybe I need to check out the manga to understand the reasoning behind his actions, but srsly is it too much to ask for anime to make sense in the now and not having to resort to scrolling through manga panels for exposition, it seems as thought the lines will keep on being being blurred between admitting that the direction the anime has taken is bad and people saying well you're just not getting the perspective.

I see what you mean, yea it could’ve definitely been done better in the anime, it’s possible it’s just my manga brain saying these things. A big thing about D also though is that he never really thinks ahead. He always goes in with no plan (unless someone he’s working with tells him in advance like Yumeko), so it’s pretty in character for him to start prioritizing Pelt once they meet imo.

Also just want to say, yea he could work with Pelt to take down Blue, but at the same time he can decide to work with Blue to take down Pelt. And don’t forget there are a ton of Pelt bodies running around rn, if he were to take out Blue there’s no way he would be able take down Pelt. Plus this way whoever the winner is between Pelt and Blue would be worn down, and remember all the Pelt bodies are the main body and atm Pelt has multiple bodies attempting to escape Bailong, so it makes sense for D to prioritize the guy who can make clones right now imo.

But in general yea I get your perspective, it could’ve definitely been done better

D is such a conflicted character who's side is hard to grasp.

He's not on the rangers' side obviously since he's a monster and has infiltrated their forces to fight them. However he's not in the boss monters' side either considering his interaction with Peltrola after his offer to join him for world domination. As a consequence, he's not in XX's side as well as she blindly follows her leader. So whose side is he on? His own greedy side that wants everything out of all of the others.

That is such a risky way to set a character motivation since everything he does can be seen as conflicting or contradictory. I'm not really sure I bought it either but I'll see how it plays out.

but, I still can't stand seeing the blue keeper who doesn't realize anything about Hibiki lol, and I can't really understand Sentouin D's character.

I was still curious about where he had been all these years but only now did Peltrola appear in front of the Rangers.

Respect fighter D a lot now. Alien Boss is a prick, rangers seem to be pricks (red for sure). It's always the "pawns" who suffer and die unjustly, be it fighters or humans. Horrible leaders everywhere.

But the Blue keeper seems decent. Maybe invaders also have a decent boss?

The boss monsters are still alive and it seems D gets a vision of what the world will look like with them still around. He’s torn between the people from the rangers society and the monsters he’s lived with his whole life. He ultimately ends up deciding to attack the boss monster and the cliff hanger with all the rangers including D fighting him will have to be left until next week. Let’s go!

I know Soldier D (God) doesn’t want a world where the roles are reversed and the invaders rule over humanity as humanity rules over the invaders, but damn, you fool! First, you use Leader Peltrola, destroy the patrol, and then betray him to fulfill your objectives. It's the most basic imperial domination game on the list.

Well, let's see how he gets out of this, how he explains himself to both the patrol and the invader comrades, but above all, how the hell he's going to get XX out without her being killed.

Things are getting good, huh.

I noticed all along D didnt seem to have a clue what world domination would entail.

This episode felt really short hurry up with the next. The pacing is odd though, this really feels like the pace of a two cour series.

Honestly, it's the first episode where I feel it would work a lot better if the entire anime until now followed Hibiki as the MC instead of D.

If Ibiki was the MC, you could have his internal conflict between his own goals and his parents' beliefs reaching its climax with the fight between his savior (Blue) and the God of his parents with XX being a reflection of his younger self.

I know that all of the elements with Peltrola are here to draw parallels between D and Hibiki but it makes the anime feels like it would be better without D.

D was interesting in the first episodes but the story we follow now made him too similar to Hibiki but with less emotional attachment to the other characters.

I don't know if I am the only one to feel like this but I think that now that I know the direction the story took I would have preferred if it was just the story of Hibiki with D replacing him sometimes.

Wondering now if D can become a boss monster if he originally came from one.

Very good episode, not bad Blue Keeper against Petrola, if there were more Dragons Keepers I think Petrola wouldn't last long hahaha
Poor XX is very brainwashed and D has his doubts but it seems he has already resolved them.
The members of the patrol vs Petrola, we will see who wins

Really good action! Loved the plot decisions, seems like Fighter D has more character now. Also liked the boss monster.

The same boss that Shogo's predecessor saved the Sakurama siblings from, the same boss that killed Kai's brother yet the Dragon Keepers dismissed.
Fighter D's delusion! Being so focused on destroying the keepers, he never thought of the consequences of what would happen afterwards. Now, what he had been through as a cadet is summed up with his imagined version of Sakurama.
Fighter XX is too devout to the bosses, who have no qualms about using the dusters as shields.
Everyone from cadets, to rangers to full-fledged Dragon Keepers stand against the boss's multiple bodies.
