Shigaraki and the villians just won't give up. They were up to something again, and All For One has started plotting their next move.

On another note, it was kinda nice to see Deku and his classmates again. It brings back the familiar feeling of the previous seasons. Also, we got a first look at Invisible Girl's face! A lot of emotions this episode. Even at three episodes for now, it seems this season put a lot of emotional content.

Ah yes, the arc that left manga readers in shambles... the U.A. Traitor Arc.

Shigaraki stumbles back to the League's secret base, screaming in pain. All For One urges him to calm down, explaining that their Quirk Factors are damaged and need time to heal. Despite this, Shigaraki continues to yell obscenities, expressing that as long as people remember All Might, he will never find peace. All For One acknowledges their shared hatred due to their fused minds. He reassures Shigaraki that even though they failed to steal New Order, they have eliminated their greatest obstacle and should take it easy for now. He instructs the League to remain on standby a bit longer, but Dabi objects, frustrated by the continued presence of his father.

I remember when this chapter came out and had the fandom in shambles. If I recall correctly, there was even a break right after Hori teased us with that Toru reveal. Good times. I never thought I'd shed a tear for Yuga Aoyama of all characters. All I can think about now is the flashback where Aoyama asked his parents why he was different from the other kids. It wasn't because he was eccentric and weird; it was because he was quirkless. Though I'm unsure about the whole redemption thing, Deku telling Aoyama he can still be a hero, just like All Might told him in episode 1, really hit me. It's kind of disappointing that the traitor plotline didn’t amount to much story-wise beyond "it was him all along" and "now he is forgiven."

What a fearsome power Deku has, making Aoyama a good guy instantly. And everything will go back to normal once again. Great.

Anyways, gotta give props where props are due, nice job Bones. You adapted Toru's face reveal well. Great even.

Hearing Aoyama's circumstances is tough but even if he does lead them to All for One he still shouldn't be forgiven. So many people were hurt/killed because of him.

On a side note, We got to see Toru for the first time. =3

Aoyama is the traitor!
...which I unfortunately spoiled myself about a long time ago. I also knew that we'll get to see how Hagakure looks this season, but I really didn't expect it to be now. She's so pretty though.
Good episode, the VAs are bringing their top-tier game during emotional moments again.

Something that I think forshadowed this: in chapter 168 page 16 / season 4 episode 17 at 21:27 Aoyama made a serious face with a dark background for a moment. Somehow I remembered this from way back when I first watched season 4 lol.

I also remember hearing that Horikoshi completely forgot about the whole traitor thing, the fans reminded him about it, and he had to include the reveal in the story somehow.

For a setup that was first brought up a good number of seasons/episodes ago, the reveal of the traitor feels quite rushed and underwhelming.

But maybe that's just makes him a really good spy. I certainly never considered him at any point.

On a side note (and very much in my own humble opinion), this could've been a much better story if it had way less side characters. You could cut the actions and dialogue of 70% of the UA students and the story for the most part would remain unchanged.

I have high hopes and great expectations though. I have a good feeling that this is going to be the best season yet.

Why would I spend my time watching shows I don't like? πŸ’’

This was a surprise for me, honestly. Aoyama of all people is the traitor and I can't help but feel sympathy for him. Just like with Deku, he was quirkless, but his parents ended up going to All for One in order to give their son a quirk, but as you can see, it has led to putting his classmates and others in danger many times, as was shown in previous seasons.

It was an emotionally charged episode with everyone understanding and coming to terms upon knowing this revelation. It wasn't the only one, as during that scene when Deku encountered Aoyama and his parents and things got intense, Toru's face was finally revealed for he very first time and she's very pretty. Still, her words must've struck Aoyama hard as she was upset about this revelation, too.

One thing that this situation has offered is the chance for our heroes to get a jump on All For One and the other villains thanks to Aoyama's link to him. Hopefully they'll take this opportunity effectively.

Oh hell no the belly-laser boy revealed to be the school traitor after all the time, since he quirkless and need to pay the debt to the lord of the faceless. I can appreciate the invisible girl face reveal, now, she's so damn pretty, and what about her body tho ... But not with the funny guy. The twist that i can't say its good enough to clear up and matter now, but definitely feels alright since its needed to move the plot forward. Whatever the plan kids have to try, tricking the lord of the faceless with Aoyama as the joker, still i appreciate all the kids transformation here.

"Just because you commit a crime doesn't make you a villain for life!"
This hit straight to my kokoro and now I just wanna say...THANKS YOU SO MUCH FOR REMINDING ME AGAIN WHY I LOVE MIDORIYA AS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THIS SHOW πŸ–€ And how I love Kacchan the best as a supporting character seeing as to how he immediately understood Deku's plan even w/o him explaining the details yet. I am so reminded as to why I love this show very much for me to shed tears in this episode, not only because of the struggle that Aoyama had gone through (with Invisible Girl almost visible crying trying to put a sense into him), but because of how I had a quick sight of the future on how Deku will save the considered worst villain of all, which is Shigaraki of course. I swear, Deku is the most personality-wise committed in all of the heroes/saviors I've seen in the world of anime, despite it having seven seasons already. He's truly amazing.
The fact that I love almost all villains in the show just goes to show how wonderful this anime is. I can't wait for the next episode but for now I'll just rewatch this episode again 'cause I believe Horikoshi made this a gift for all MHA fans and I just wanna savor the feels again...

Wow man, I never woulda thought the goofy ass Aoyama was the traitor, now I’m wondering if there were more hints at it before and I just never noticed, it does seem kinda out of nowhere tho. However, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like this reveal, I thought the situation was well done, really liked the voice acting and the emotions were high, Aoyama didn’t want to do it and hearing his backstory doesn’t make him that much unlike Midoriya, just on a different side of the coin. It is wild tho learning how the League kept managing their surprise attacks after all this time, I’m glad we got an answer to that even if I kinda forgot there wasn’t an explanation for so long.

But despite this reveal, of course Midoriya would want to save him, and thanks to Hagakure it was possible, and during this scene we actually got a glimpse of what she actually looks like behind the invisible quirk, the OP kinda spoiled that but I’ve already seen what she looks like because of fanart anyway lol, still cool to see it in the anime finally, I’m glad we got a cute face to go with the cute voice. And the last moments of this episode made it apparent that Aoyama can actually redeem himself and use his connection to All For One to their advantage, so what seemed like a terrible truth can actually be a game changer for the heroes, this makes the 2nd time that’s happened just in this season, first with Star and Stripe and now this, but hey I’m not against the heroes getting more of a foot to stand on, looking forward to the next one because this episode actually felt like 5 minutes lol.

I think bones cheated with early Hagakure reveal rather than in the fight later on, I think it's been a some time so maybe I'm wrong. At least endeavor was mentioned that's something.

Author woke up that day and thought let's bring this one thing up from the grave who nobody even remembers or cares about anymore. Thus the Aoyama revelation. Found it as silly as i did while reading it back when this dropped.

Hagakure's face reveal came too late in the story to leave any impression tbh.

The betrayal was uneventful and boring, Even class 1A's reaction was underwhelming. Aoyama was such a boring character that I forgot about him, but atleast they can use him to get close to all for one. Also why would his parents choose to give him such a shit power if they have a choice.

The situation concerning Aoyama breaks my heart in so many different ways.
Looking back, all of it makes sense, but seeing his terrified parents begging him to keep going….
“We just wanted you to be happy.”
They tried to give their son happiness but all they ended up doing was exchanging his future and childhood for a quirk.
He worked so hard to become a hero only to become the very thing he was fighting against for the sake of his family.

It’s honestly impressive looking back and seeing how far each student has come. They all started out in different places with different mindsets, but they’re all trying their absolute hardest to come together to defeat a single enemy and seeing the way they all came together with Aoyama just reminded me of how far they’ve come and how much they’ve grown, both as individuals and as a group.
“Aoyama, I’ll say it one more time. You can still be a hero.”
Aoyama really has some amazing people around him.

They picked some insane timing too, but Hagakure is SO PRETTY?!?!?

We shift to spotlight back over to the main group now that they've been given an extension by Star and Stripe. Training as hard they can getting ready for what could be the final fight of their lives. Seeing each of the students working on their moves in tandem with each other is great, they've all come a long way. Deku being back with everyone is the best part, after he was away from them for so long last season. These interactions with Bakugo are priceless are will probably become very rare very soon. Invisible Girl finding someone out in the woods on the school campus, the traitor of UA is finally revealed!! It was Aoyama the whole time!! He's the one who's been feeding All For One information over the course of all these major events. The reason that the villains have been able to sneak up so many times is because of Aoyama and his parents. Born without a quirk they seek out All For One to five Aoyama a quirk, that's why it always hurt his stomach because its not originally his quirk. Deku reaching out his hand to Aoyama was nice, Deku will always be a true hero trying to see the best in people. Looking at the situation differently is a good idea since they can now use the Aoyama family to trick All For One.

They had us in the first half with Invisible Girl not gonna lie.

As an anime only. I heard that there was gonna be a traitor and tried to avoid knowing who it was. Glad I did cause I thought that this was going to be later and got surprised. These plot twists since last season have been very good. Aoyama is still no villain to me.

Because of who she is, I keep forgetting that Invisible Girl is even in class 1-A so I'm glad she got some time in this episode and we got to see a glimpse of her.

The moment just before the title card, where we see Hagakure standing there as AFO tells Dabi that he has many friends, was an end-of-chapter cliffhanger when this moment first happened in the manga, and I remember how everyone was losing their shit. Just for the bait and switch as it turns out that Aoyama is the traitor, not her lol.

Quite an emotional episode and the VAs brought their A game, you can definitely feel the pain in these characters' voices as they process the betrayal.

OK! I was completely wrong. Turns out Aoyama was the mole all along. However, that collectiveist way of thinking, tipically of the Japansese, saves Aoyama's skin of being fried. Here in the West he would have been super imprissoned for sure.

By the way, Hagakure is damn PRETTY.

Damn. Aoyama was a traitor all along. He was pretty sus for quite some time but didn't think he'd be the traitor. Apparently, Horikoshi had completely forgotten about this plotline. Idk how you forget about something so important but I wonder who he had in mind as the traitor initially. Or if he had anyone particular in mind at all.

Aoyama and his family were used by All for One. But they're still traitors and could face severe punishments. But with the cooperation of Aoyama, they might get their punishment reduced or maybe even pardoned. According to Deku, he still can be a hero. He didn't lie. I feel so bad about Aoyama. It's the most human he's ever been in the entire series.

Toru's face reveal scene was cool. I wonder if we can see her properly in the next episodes. I remember people losing their minds over this and that there was a break. Hope that it won't take long in the manga for her to properly appear in front of everyone tho Idk how that'd happen.
