I think him being a short male and being able to even hold a conversation and keep his composure with a beautiful, tall female and has his presence acknowledged makes him more chad than most protagonists out there.
Even better if we compare him to Kazuya.

Kyotaro is not passive, he is shy and can't communicate well. He does a lot in the show and saves Anna a couple of times. His attitude also changes later on, which is remarked on by the characters. He is not forceful and direct, if that is what you mean by "beta".

Since he has low self-esteem, he is passive in those situations in which he believes he has no chance: for example, in relationships with other people. But in other situations, he is quite decisive, for example, when he needs to help another person. A beta person would not sacrifice his bike to save Yamada from Nanpai.

Don't worry, keep watching. One of the strongest points of the series is that characters move forward. No character in the show is a 1 note gimmick gag, even the ones that scream they are at the start.

ichikawa is good one. like in harem and some othe shows mcs are like total loser. even if fmc kisses them. they don't understand what it's meaning. like kazuya is fucking loser , lust guy. only thinks about if chizuru becomes his girlfriend then he can hug kiss and do adult things. but doesn't think about how to take care of her. only after body. if Yami girl comes then he thinks about her . he is a total loser.compared to him . ichikawa is awesome dude.he short , never talks to other people even so he interact to fmc and understands her feelings.he is nice dude 😎

He is a gentleman, that’s not beta, that is an alpha

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

If "beta male" means "introverted and shy dude", then yes he is. There are definitely similar romcom MCs out there, so he's not completely different. Though I think this show portrays his way from "edgy teenager" to "insecure loyal friend" very well.

Not really. Why is being a genuinely nice, smart and supportive person suddenly negative traits when paired with social anxiety and introversion? MC is honestly very real and not remotely pathetic here, he is constantly showing growth and promise, unlike Mirai Nikki - like protagonists like Yuki.
