Was just wondering what percentage of people active in this forum were introduced to Kenshin via this anime, out of curiosity

Yes, my first introduction to this series
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I've never watched the OG series, but even this remake has this characteristic 90s vibes.

I've known about it since I got into anime in 2014 but just never watched the original, as a huge seasonal anime watcher this was perfect for me

I watched the entire series before. I am enjoying the remake. If you want to watch more on Kenshin's past there is the Samurai X movie. Be careful about I. There's 2 Samurai X movies one serves as a origin and the other serves as a ending to the series.

The original one is one of my favorite anime of all time. The remake is good but feels like is missing something. Watch the original, you will enjoy it. The live action movies are good too.

No. I saw the original anime but never finished it (not that it’s bad, it’s bc I was too busy with my life)

Streamed 7 episodes of the '96 adaptation in 2013 but didn't continue it.
I've seen the first three live-action movies (Origins, Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends) so I have an idea of what the next season is going to be like.

i remember watching the og-series when it still aired on adult swim! even though i’m a huuuuge fan of the original(richard cansino was such a great english va for kenshin. he delivered his personality, both as the wanderer AND manslayer, as well as his speech peculiarities masterfully!), i still find myself greatly enjoying this 2k23 remake. talk about nostalgia!

I knew about kenshin anime but never watched the original and I didn't watch this one as well. I only read a spinoff manga of kenshin.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

I discovered rurouni kenshin when I was 11 or 12 and it’s been my favorite since. I thought the show getting a remake was cool, but I didn’t really care about it

I read the manga when I was in elementary school and loved it. I kinda feel like this anime doesn't do the manga justice, but I may be biased here due to the nostalgia. I do admit that this is still a great adaption.

It was my first 20+ volumes manga series I've collected completely, starting as a child. -g- Even though I have a lot of gripes and issues with the development of the series + the huge disappointment and dislike for that pussy mangaka regarding the way he handled the story and got heavily influenced in a bad way by lots of female fans (way before even involving his personal 'slips' in real life), it's still something I treasure.

Still have an older picture on my hdd/sd

To answer the question, no. I read the manga years earlier.

MAL is far from being my primary site for literature, which is why I’ve stopped doing single-chapter updates. Baka-Updates and two French sites are far superior—more detailed, complete, and less restrictive. They're perfect for manga, light novel, and book collectors like me, making the process much less stressful and tiring. -g-

No. The 1996 version was my introduction to the series, which I started watching 10 years ago, skipped all the filler, dropped it in mid-2014 after I was done with the Kyoto arc, then read the Jinchuu arc in the manga, as well as watching the Tsuioku-hen OVA too.

Yes, this remake was my introduction to the series. I had only heard of the original series and seen it's MAL page but had not seen any episode. Just read the synopsis.

While I watched the original all of the hubub around the remake informed me that there's been a manga sequel (Hokkaido Arc) for several years now. So in a sense the remake reintroduced me to new aspects of the series, which is cool.

Nope. I watched "Samurai X" in Cartoon Network in the early 2000s. Then I read the manga a decade ago.

Knew about the original from its opening but never got into it, so the remake was my first experience with it but not what introduced me to the original.

Heard of it when I was a teen but was never a big anime person in my teens and finally when I was getting around to the idea of watching the anime, I heard about the reboot and opted to watch it instead of the OG.

Watched and read it some time ago. Didn't like the fillers and how censored/simplified some scenes in anime were to compare with manga.
I think the new adaptation is better than the old one.
Trust and Betrayal is the best part though.

I watched the original back in 2015 as it was one of the few anime on Netflix India back then. I then read the final arc with the manga as it never got adapted. Then I watched all 5 live action Kenshin movies over and over since they're genuinely some of the best action movies out there. Revisiting the first arc through this remake made me appreciate the low stakes portion of Kenshin a lot more.
