The first season is the first 2 novels. The entire thing is 5 novels in all. I hope they do a second season. There's enough material to finish the entire story plus one or two OVA's. At least the author said there wasn't really anything more to add after the 5th novel

There is enough material. I would love to have a second season. Let’s hope we get.

Very Unlikely because anime’s with the gl genre basically never get season 2’s but it’s not impossible

I'm doubtful. Would rather see a new season of Mou Ippon or something.

I loved Mou Ippon, I really want a 2nd season of that too. I’d read the manga but the translation is 150 chapters behind and hasn’t been updated in a year.

Hope so. Especially as a source reader, this anime should get the second season, at least, for the proper happy ending.

man I hope so. But don't do what I did and take a peak at the shows Wiki. what a colossal mind fuck. I'd be happy just getting a second season so they can build on the last few images we were shown at the end with Claire. I really have no interest in all the crazy shit after wards. just seems to damn out there for me

I wouldn't count on it. Aside from "Yuru Yuri" (which isn't a legit Shoujo Ai), no Girl's Love anime has ever recieved a second season. No matter how well it did.

@JadeHoxen Maria†Holic and Maria-sama ga Miteru are both girls love anime and both have more than one season. Hell, Maria-sama has 4 seasons (even though one is an OVA season), so your argument is completely off the mark. I suppose I could attribute your misguided view to the fact that there are very few GL anime to begin with.

@JadeHoxen And just how many modern yuri anime are there even in the first place? Sequel seasons are rare as it is. Yuri anime even more so. Discounting something because it isn't in your favour is a poor practice if you want to be taken seriously.

@irbis No clue what you're going on about. I never once mentioned anything about "being in my favour" or not. I'm simply shedding light on the state of modern "Girl's Love" anime.

By modern yuri shows, I mean anything released within the last decade, but I'll be generous and say anything released after 2010. This includes shows like Sakura Trick, Mikagura School Suite, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, Konohana Kitan, Citrus, Bloom Into You, Adachi to Shimamura, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, and finally the present ones that have been released recently, Yuri is my Job and I'm in Love with the Villainess. This isn't even counting the short films, OVA's, or movies either.

Maria†Holic is not a yuri anime since it involves cross-dressing.

@JadeHoxen Alright, then let me put it another way in the hopes that you'll actually understand this time. Why have no recent GL anime got sequel seasons? There aren't enough of them. Sequel seasons are rare to begin with. GL anime are even rarer than that. You are using the wrong metrics. Saying that no GL anime ever got a sequel is absurd. Limiting it to modern ones is no better. Search for GL here on MAL and you'll only find around 100 of them (and that is including shorts, ova's, movies, and even hentai). Some double that amount of anime comes out every year.

Now, don't misunderstand, I'm not saying the chances of this anime getting a sequel are anything other than extremely slim at best, I'm saying that basing an estimate on the past performance of the genre is ridiculous as it's too niche a genre for such metrics. The chances of a sequel are slim, but NOT because of a lack of precedent.

And I'll grant you that Holic has cross-dressing, but the main girl is a lesbian, so it's not entirely removed from the genre.

@irbis Okay, then by that logic, what's the excuse for "Gourmet" anime? Which is an even more niche genre. On paper, it has 165 shows listed on MAL, but most of those are Specials, promotional videos, OVA, or movies. In reality, there are only 43. I can be generous and include movies but it'd still be far far far less than Girl's Love. Shows like Dagashi Kashi, Food Wars!, Cinderella Chef, Princess Connect! Re:Dive, The Dining of Link Lee, and many many more manage to get additional seasons despite being in such a niche genre.

If we really want to be real here, I think the main reason why Girl's Love anime doesn't get additional content is because the stories tend to become more graphic in their later arcs which can make it hard for them to be greenlit, let alone be aired on television. Bloom Into You and Citrus are good examples but there are obviously more than that. This is also why Yuru Yuri is favoured since it's safe. At the end of the day, all we can do is hope for the best. It looks like more and more Yuri titles are being adapted so maybe the genre won't stay niche for long.

@JadeHoxen Food is universal. Simple as that. You say it is even more niche a genre, but it is easier for gourmet anime to appeal to a broad audience than yuri anime since the topic is far more approachable. Food is not a niche topic. It may perhaps not be as engaging a topic at times, but it is more accessible. And lets not forget that Food Wars is also an ecchi anime and a shounen anime.

Yuri caters to far more specific an audience and that also means it's easier for the fanbase to dwindle. TV anime have seen their share of graphic and controversial content, so it's not so much the content that they can show as the fanbase. Sequel seasons will inevitably see a drop in viewership. If that viewership count is already on the lower side, then profits drop as well, and profit is a far greater factor than content. Disc sales are what ultimately make sequels happen. I don't really expect the genre to gain that much traction, but one of the things I hate the most about anime is that far too many never get to the final conclusion, so if it does become more popular, I will welcome it with open arms.

@irbis Agreed. Yuri at its core is still a romance so it only makes sense we'd want to see a satisfying conclusion to the relationship between the leads. Some Yuri shows like Adachi to Shimaura or Otherside Picnic flat out have no development at all. So much so that MAL actually had to remove the "Girl's Love" tag on Otherside Picnic. The most recent ones seem to be heading down the right path tho, so hopefully they keep it up. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

@Noegusis Isekai is one of the most popular genres out there right now. Yuri is not. Comparing the two is ridiculous.
