| It's clear that Kanata's Toyota 86 is the real deal, and it's taking MFG by storm. Continuing the Odawara Pikes Peak course, the current title holder of Michael Beckenbauer isn't even fazed at Kanata trying to smash his records, and even Ogata is surprised that he's seeing a double vision of Takufumi Fujiwara within the Englishman, and it's no surprise at this point at the Kamaboko Straight to fight his way to the Top 15, down to the millisecond. Kanata's position: 16th at 0.019 hundredths of a second too slow, though the Toyota 86 has been finely tuned for this purpose. Instead of a downer, Kanata, Ogata and Shun have a party, though Ren came up to Kanata and gave him a slap for cheating her feelings that he was not going to participate in MFG. Shun still hopelessly chasing for Ren where she is entranced by him, it felt like a lover's spat between both Kanata and Ren. Despite that, a driver who was using illegal equipment got disqualified, which puts Kanata right at the Top 15 spot at the very last place. Ren feeling just as guilty that she did not tell Kanata that her work was the MFG Angel, is she really going to chase the Englishman? Also, the top prize of 100 million yen, it's anybody's game for now... |

He punished the 86's tires on the corners and he didn't manage to hold onto his qualifying 15th place until the end (EDIT: mistyped, thanks). Similar vibes to when Mika slapped Takumi in Fifth Stage. Kanata seems pretty convincing if he was lying about not recognising that No. 7 is Ren behind the makeup and wig. Queue the weekly English utterances by Yuuma Uchida. As luck would have it, a car ahead was disqualified. The Englishman will qualify with a Toyota, after all. The selection will make for a promising race. This episode went by so fast. |

| Kanata was incredible pushing the 86 to the absolute limit and now that he has qualified for the race in the top 15 things are just going to get more intense from now on |
| I saw that coming but that was still great. I'm glad he qualified. The final part of the timelap had me on edge the entire time. Ren really went ahead and slapped him eh. Reminds me of that time with Takumi and Mika. Kanata didn't recognise her cause of the makeup and wig but well I hope things will be resolved between them and they get together soon. She's so in love. |

| felt like a short episode. kanata made it through luckily, but i'm just glad eurobeat is back and we got some pretty cool shots. kanata getting slapped reminded me of takumi getting slapped by mika in 5th stage. hiroshi kamiya as beckenbauer is neat. |

| Welp. there it is, the thing I feared and expected from episode 1. The author is already setting up the excuses for Kanata to reject Ren in the future episodes because of a dumb choice in the heat of the moment, plus MC will choose bros before h*es and will respect the petition from mr big shot not to date Ren (whom he doesn't even know her name) because he asked nicely and preemptively. Meh. I'm just glad that this dragged not race but qualification round is finally over. Hope the actual races are less padding and have MCs own moves rather than call in for nostalgia on what Takumi did several years ago. |

| extremely disappointed at the girl. it was very unnecessary to slap him out of the blue just to confirm her own feelings. immature, childish and dickish move. majorly turned off by her personality for now. i wonder how they gonna redeem her and if katagiri himself will let this go. other than that the race itself was great. great to see him qualifying the race but i fail to see how he's gonna win or compete with others in an actual race without majorly modifying the car. the other races aren't fools, they are also trained professionals. it felt weird to see katagiri not be disppointed after seemingly not making it even after giving his all. seems like he believes in giving his all and not worrying about the results. a good motto to live by i say. looking forward to next episode. @Cammell123 you just feel like that because we haven't been shown any of his struggles. we just met him, we don't know his backstory, how his home life was, how hard he trained etc. once we get those flashbacks everyone will start feeling like rooting for him. |

| Just like with Initial D, MF Ghost was able to have the same effect of having me on the edge of my seat for a nail-biting finish. Kanata pushed the 200hp Toyota GT86 to its limits, but with such a long straight towards the end of the long run and, despite going over 140mph, very close to its overall top speed, the other car's that he was ahead time-wise would catch up due to having the superior power needed to go faster here. Because of that, I expected Kanata to finish 16th and that did happen. Also, Ren let her emotions get the better of her judgement and slapped Kanata, which felt like a near direct comparison when Mika slapped Takumi in the face in Initial D Fifth Stage. Mika went on to be a pretty likeable character, so although what Ren here was uncalled for, at least she showed her regrets of what she did, considering how she's keeping a secret from him of her being an MFG angel. I do hope she can come clean to him about this and do her best to redeem herself, as I do like her, despite what she did earlier. Like teacher, like student, huh? Kanata's luck struck gold as, in a typical FIA-style post-event investigation, one of the cars broke the rules and was disqualified, meaning that Kanata gets moved to 15th place and can take part in the next race. I do wish him the best of luck, since his opponents, including Shun, will be tough to keep up with. As the next episode's title says, tyre management is crucial in a long race like this. |

Man I can't imagine how a stock 86 can beat mid-engine supercars, they should at least put upgrades on the 86 in the future like what Project D and Takumi did to the AE86 throughout the series.
I'd imagine putting a turbo is the first step I would do, that's the easiest way to gain more power.
Then again, I still have zero idea what the hell they mean by grip-to-weight ratio.

| @EgatammaN realistically in the show they could probably bump it to 310-350 without replacing the block , i think it would be cool af if the put an EJ in LOL. The grip to weight thing i think is in place so heavier cars are required to have wider wheels which in turn make them more grippy. if you have a lighter car like the gt86 you are thus able to drift more , which is probably the secret sauce ryosuke was talking about |

| Decent episode, but kind of predictable to me that he wouldn't get 15th place, and then by some luck.. which i also guessed through another being disqualified.. he'll make it after all. Not a fan of the drama part with the girl though. She's already kind of annoying to me.. and resorting to violence like that on such a nice and innocent person. But she definately wants his (initial?) D I guess and does some crazy shit. |

| Gotta love it when a character gets slapped for no damn reason. Ren needs to grow up and control her emotions, at least she felt bad about it afterwards instead of defending it with some bs reason. Also, Aiba is such a creep. Definitely stalker material. Why did he have to be the one who drives the R35.... |

| Kanata not recognising Ren is pretty hilarious, but that old man thirsting over the Angel was quite uncomfortable. The whole dialogue afterwards was really awkward. But in the end, she didn't even know why she slapped him, lol. This subplot alone makes me want to drop it. |

| What an epic finish! Kanata was so close to qualify right away. Luckily for him, someone was disqualified. While I'm not against such stuff happening in the story and I kinda expected that somehow Kanata would be able to continue his racing adventure in MFG, I found it weird that apparently tires were the reason of former #15's disqualification. Weren't those races meant to be pretty liberal? If modded vehicles are allowed as much as unmodded ones, then how such stuff like tires can be a reason to disqualifying anyone? Anyway, whatever. It's on! Can't wait to see the next race. By the way, that slap from Ren was definitely rude and wasn't an appropriate reaction. |
