Kenpachi's fight this episode turned out to be very destructive and epic along with that soundtrack. An incredible fight like this was worth waiting for.

Also got to see a glimpse of Yachiru's past and how she met Kenpachi. Definitely one of my favorite fights this season so far. The fact they also used some of the iconic soundtracks from the previous seasons made this impactful.

Yachiru was super adorable as ever. Her fight was cute but cool. Kenpachi soon made an appearance and it was just as hyped as I expected. Such an awesome character. That fight had me on the edge of my seat. What a battle it was.

Gremmy tried his best to go against Kenpachi but he has all the answers to his questions. That Meteor Splitting scene was chef's kiss. So fucking good. Gremmy realized soon that he was fighting a monster. Another peak episode.

Continuing on from the cliffhanger of last episode, or I should say first putting the fodders in their place, we had the main bad guy of this episode making an appearance just a few minutes later, the actual sternritter ‘V’, Gremmy. Yachiru might’ve had all the fun and games until then, but that dude with his overpowered as fuck powers put a big FULL STOP straight away.

Gremmy with his powers of making anything he imagines into reality did get one against Yachiru but not even an ounce against the GOAT, Zaraki Kenpachi. Kenpachi with his hype as fuck entrance and then dropping the big news of putting Unohana to rest was already something in itself, but jesus christ the moment they started the real show, it was FREAKING STEROIDS.

Pierrot went fucking bonkers, and so did the VA’s of Kenpachi and Gremmy. Slashing few meagre things was one thing, but jesus they adapted the “SLASHING THROUGH THE METEORITE” panel to perfection. I could feel for Gremmy lol, Kenpachi made him look like a clown even with those otherworldly powers of his. And that’s fucking it for his side of the story.

Last episode was the best one of this cour, but damn it didn’t even take one week to have an episode topping it.
Peak Kenpachi, Peak Bleach. 5/5.

MY GOAT KEN FUCKING PACHI IS BACK!

Isane and Yachiru find themselves tending to the injured Kensei and Rojuro when an attack is launched by Gwenael, a Quincy endowed with the extraordinary power to vanish not just physically but also from the memory of his adversaries. Yachiru finally unveils her Shikai, managing to hold Gwenael at bay temporarily. However, it becomes apparent that he is not the true primary antagonist. Instead, the central antagonist in this scenario appears to be Gremmy, whose dominant ability lies in creating illusions. Gremmy showcases his power by subjecting Yachiru to illusions, until the moment Kenpachi arrives on the scene. Kenpachi's straightforward strength allows him to break free from the illusions, invoking a sense of nostalgia. He also demonstrates some strategic thinking, noticing that Gremmy is no longer focused on Yachiru.

Kenpachi's serious demeanor and readiness for action are truly captivating. The episode significantly contributes to character development, with noteworthy reactions from Isane upon learning of Unohana's demise and Kenpachi's response as well. The ongoing emphasis on character growth is highly appreciated. The mystery of Isane's actions in carrying Rose and Kensei, even if they are assumed to be "dead," adds an intriguing layer to the plot.

The animation quality in this episode maintains the standard set by previous ones. While it might not surpass the level of Rukia's bankai reveal from last week or episode 6 of the first cour, the animation remains commendable. It's particularly satisfying to see Kenpachi receiving well-executed animation, a step up from certain other characters at the beginning of this cour. On another note, that song used at Gremmy's demise was beautiful. Shiro dont miss.

Another Quincy down for the count!

It was pretty good, just not nearly as good as Rukia’s episode.

And I still think I like Mask one better, then this one right after.

Zaraki was cool! But it was kinda one sided… at least it was one episode long!

THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAT. THE GOOOOAAAAAATTTT!!!!

The man himself KENPACHI is back, and anytime he shows up you know you can expect some great action. And so in his first episode back after a while, what does he do? Slices a fucking meteor in half πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ the music was hype af too. Sorry Gremmy, you stood no chance against a literal monster.

My favorite Bleach episode up to this point, holy shit that was amazing!! Technically speaking I'm not able to say if it's better or worse than episodes 6 or 7 from cour 1, I definitely liked this one much more tho. Lots of sakuga and they were all great enough to me.
And it just feels so euphoric after watching it, you can really feel the adrenaline pumping... I've felt the same way when I've read those manga chapters years ago.

The shooting missiles, THE ASTEROID SEQUENCE, the melancholy when Gremmy dies... 5/5 *chief kiss*

DRINK, NOZARASHI!!!!

Kenpachi really said "L+Ratio".

Also: how the hell letters (or "schrifts") are supposed to work? Power of imagination is one of the most OP abilities and still he had only "V". Shouldn't his letter be like "I" (Imagination) or "M" (Mind) or smth.

Kenpachi's so unbelievably strong that the power of imagination means nothing to him, what a legend. The way he destroyed that meteor and then escaped from Gremmy's pocket space like it was nothing is insane.

cannot Gremmy just imagine Zaraki as dead forever or has no existence like what he did to Vanishing Point Quincy? or that is too much for his imaginative power or brain power?

Captain Zaraki Kenpachi finally returns, and boy does he bring the heat every fudging time!

Yachiru-san's ability is pretty cool as well but you need something out of this world to fight against imagination. God, that sounds like a horrifying ability, perhaps even unbeatable if it were at the hands of some of the other characters of the show (e.g. Aizen, for sure). Cutting that meteor like its thin air, he definitely wasn't kidding when he said he cut literally anything. Especially loved that scene of him just peeking out of the vacuum space hole and the line, "you forgot to imagine your body stronger than steel", with that stern voice of his, that's an easy 10/10 moment.

It's been one after the one, I swear. Pierrot be treating us gooood!

the ost this season and usage is one of the worst cases in all of anime.  they ruined the atmosphere of gremmy's  first appearance with that dad rock bs,  and the  rest of  the episode followed the same disappointing arrangement.  did this season have a new  director?  its too bad. every week worse

Another masterpiece episode by Pierrot and easily the best-looking one from this cour so far. EP6 only edges out as my favourite because I liked the content there even more.

This fight embodies the essence of Bleach. It's a story where the very concept of "To fight" is a centralizing force. Kenpachi has always embodied that the most, and after his battle with Yachiru Unohana, the First Kenpachi; he became the embodiment of a Shinigami--the true embodiment of death. Meanwhile, Gremmy has the power to literally imagine anything in and out of existence, which is pretty much the over the top, otherworldly nature of the fights in this series taken to its utmost extreme. Here's Kenpachi cutting down anything thrown at him, including oneshotting a meteor capable of nuking the Seireitei and slicing through the fabric of space itself because he's just that much of an unstoppable "monster". It's thematic with him being THE Kenpachi and displaying through BATTLE the weight that such a title holds.

Kubo went about creating such an overpowered ability perfectly I think, by essentially turning the whole fight into one big thematic execution; and the conclusion with Gremmy being a brain in a jar is also layered in symbolism and poetry. Gremmy killing himself with his own power and his desire to draw out the fight (just like Kenpachi) also makes sense, being a completely sheltered Sternritter. Love the Brain vs Brawn dynamic it creates here. The Quincy here is drenched in hax but has no experience, whilst the Shinigami here has no special abilities but is pure, physically awakened skill.

TL;DR: This is a perfect showcasing of the battle genre and embodies Bleach as a whole. It's a visual spectacle with a deceptive amount of depth, which is what makes this series so great. 10/10

There's nothing implying he couldn't. He did create life capable of conceptually phasing in and out of existence, after all. But Gremmy wanted to fight first off and is also inexperienced; his emotions were all over the place in the heat of battle because he's completely unaccustomed to it (unlike Kenpachi who lives in it). Not thinking straight led to him forgetting about turning Yachiru's bones into cookies, healing his own wounds, erasing the concept of death for himself, and then perceiving Kenpachi as an unstoppable menace whilst trying to replicate his strength, which just led to his body collapsing.

Underwhelming. Of course adapting 9 chapters would be a bad idea in a normal length episode. Kenpachi is my fav character in fiction and of course, like most of this adaptation, it felt rushed and the animation was bare minimum.

I can't believe they actually adapted all those chapters in a single episode. It was arguably one of the worst episodes of the cour for exactly that reason - everything was rushed. Yachiru's first scene suffered the most, then there were moments during the actual fight between Gremmy and Kenpachi where you'd miss certain things if you blinked because everything was happening so fast. It's ridiculous that they didn't split this fight into two episodes, because a lot of the cut content and sped up stuff deserved to be fleshed out a lot more. Not that anyone will even read this, but whatever.

The part of the meteorite was awesome. The staff does like Kenpachi a lot, so far his fights have been some of the best of the anime, only surpassed by Yama vs Royd last season.
It's funny Gremmy was introduced and defeated in a single episode, but to be fair it was the same in the manga, he only lasted a single volume.

Next week's episode will be interesting, I hope it ends being as good as this one.

What the hell are you talking about, nothing got rushed. Those chapters were mostly deprived of significant dialogue (and when it happens, it can intertwine with said action scenes just fine), and a whole lot of action happens in the span of this particular volume.
Adapting 8 chapters like that is actually slower than adapting 2 chapters filled with information. If anything, this episode was the most appropriately paced since The Fire.
