after lots of time of expectations and waiting, i finally watched the movie.
and that was
big disappointing.

i will start from the good things.
ignoring the lousy plot armour they did with shirley, that though because she was alive and so she could save lelouch's body, haven't had even a proper line in the movie, lol, the whole resurrection was fine, though i believe they letted the watcher too much figuring by himself what happened when lelouch were alone in that gate and how the hell he got himself back. whatever.
it was great to see all the new faces too, and to hear the old OST back was great.
i will jump to lelouch's plans which were masterpiece. you can say that the most good thing about the movie was all lelouch's present. (and as i will write, the rest was just junk)
there was that final scene with lelouch and c.c. which was well done.

but the rest was just awfull.
let's start with the fact that i imagined lelouch meets the rest of his previous fellows quite different, but it wasn't just there.
i didn't cared about the story itself, the villains was intriguing at their first impression and nothing more. that "going back in time" geass started annoying the 2nd time she did that. and her ambitious were worse than charls.
but that wasn't the worse part of the story but the whole idea of the movie - if you would compare between the start of the movie to R2 you will see the movie follows the same structure of the beginning: after resurrection lelouch did his awesome smart plan to get out of his memoryless hime. doesn't that new. the rest was just felt as to justify his resurrection and nothing more. nunnally kidnapped not because there's some war country out there that lost it's funds because of peace (i mean, seriously?) but because there's need war in peaceful world to make worth resurrection lelouch. the result are awful. the action not as it was in the original series and not exciting, and even the conclusion was overly rushed and, again, left the viewer guessed himself how lelouch rescued nunally from "new enemy" in the c world.
single comment in this thread actually had the better idea, to make series of this story, it would make better use of the current story because almost 2hrs wasn't enough to make me much interest in this settings, and maybe 6 OVA episodes would be better.

but with all that being said, there was still some enjoyment here.

I was surprised to learn the movie triology actually had significant differences. Shirelys fate hit hard and was symmetry for Euphemia.
The film is exactly like season 2 magic, magic, god, and more magic, overpowered mecha and a little bit of strategy.

Season 1 should have never been retconned.

Feels like watching a high budget fanfiction of the series. Not bad per se, but couldve been alot better and doesn't really live up to the hype, but to be fair, nothing can top the R2 ending.

I really like the animation. And even though it's been done before, the part when Lelouch regains his memory and using Geass was hype asf. And Lelouch trying to get past Shamna hax Geass was really cool. The design of the new KnightMares, Zero new outfit, they looks superb as well.

But other than that, it was quite a so-so movie. Other than Shamna overpowered geass, the antagonist(s) are unmemorable, I don't even remember the kid brother name and the General son.

But my biggest gripe is.. what's the point of Shirley? They made 3 different (recap) movies to brought her back, but she barely has any role in this movie Other than bringing Lelouch body between Movie 3 and Resurrection, which can be substituted by somebody else, and using the excuse because she's a civilian thus she's not being watched is such a bad joke lol. I was expecting a heartwarming reunion or something like that but all we got is just an illustration during credits of her crying during a phone call (presumably Lelouch). Why went all the trouble when only giving her such a miniscule role?

Shamna is the girl version of Subaru. That geass is OP. I don't think they could've beaten her without plot armor.

Glad to see Lelouch was gentleman enough to carry that load for CC in the end. It's really nice to see the two of them together forevermore.

It's a nice movie, but nothing special, aside from seeing TOG in action again. 8/10

Little disappointed after the hype I heard. In terms of endings R2 is a better ending for Leoluch and this ending is better for C2.

A single thought... why around 9 minutes and 45 secs in did she say she'd "make" him some milk, rather than get him some 0.0

Upon rewatching Code Geass 3 times including the recap movies, all the plot holes, dumb writing, plot conveniences & contrivances became more apparent.

The Highly praised ending Zero Requiem also makes no sense and feels contrived and forced to gain sympathy for Lelouch

10mins of pathos sequence and the grandiose opera soundtrack sadly can't fix all the plot holes, dumb writing and contrivances.
He could've kept the throne and made change happen differently. Even the upcoming sequels can't fix any of these.
These are irrefutable facts and the people who watched the show for the first time are blinded by the ending.

This movie is not perfect, nor is it close to how great R1 and R2 are, it's got many gaping plotholes, but here's the thing... I loved it!

Fans can only hope and dream for a sequel or a continuation, but usually, it will never come true even after a few years, let alone a whole damn decade. But it did, for Code Geass.
Officially, This movie is not a sequel to R2, I know. But whether it is or it isn't, I will consider it as such. The events and ending just fit seamlessly for this to be canonical and be a direct continuation, either case...
This movie is one hell of an orgasm-filled fan service!!!

It's so great to see Lelouch again after so long! not to mention all the other loveable characters, not you Shirley, the 3 recap movies brought you to life, but nor my like for Shirley. All the character interactions are great, I especially love how the people who once worked for him or is aware of the true nature of his plan; 'zero Requiem', all still admired him and respect him as the true Zero, well, minus Suzaku beating him up.

The battle of wits, synonymous with Code Geass, is back yet again! And this time, Lelouch faced someone with a nigh undefeatable ability. Well, at least for everyone else. As the One True Emperor, ofc Lelouch eventually managed to defeat Shamna along with the military might of Zilkhstan, with style at that.

I am literally at the edge of my seats upon seeing Lelouch trying to save Nunnally from C's World. I was half expecting him to wake up, but without his conscience like the state he was in before. or that he wakes up but just fell asleep again. but I'm just glad that was not the case. Finally, he got properly say his farewell to his sister Nunnally and maybe even to the others, I like to think that since he's eternally youthful, that he gets to see his sister along with some other characters from time to time, but alas that's just a side event now that L.L. and C.C. will be the hunters that hunt down all those Geass users with no resolve. A world with fewer Maos is a better world...

All Hail the one True Zero, Emperor of The World and The King that stood all above the other characters in terms of the number of favourites in MAL itself! Lelouch Vi Britania, Lelouch Lamprouge, L.L.

4 April 2023, I just rewatched this movie to once again bask in the glory that Lelouch vi Brutania emit, even if this movie is flawed, I still love it.

Oh how I missed the characters of this series, despite how flawed they are in some instances be it due to them being written as such or due to the writers'. Man I just wished there are more anime/manga/light novel that involves a genius MC that has such a flamboyant way to represent themself to the world, while also being capable enough to conquer said world. There are not many stories that cover world domination, period.

I've just realized that Lelouch calling himself L.L like how C.C. is called is essentially him proposing to C.C. I thought she was elated that he showed the conviction to live the way she does and forsake his name and position in the world to share C.C. mission. I'm pretty sure that's still partt of the reason why she was so overjoyed, but damn, they're both wedded now. Words truely need not be spoken huh... W

eh just about passable imo, didn't like any of the new characters, new knightmare designs, and a lot of what happened niggled me as being silly.
&honestly what was the point in retconning Shirley? For the minuscule role she had in this film? Could've been literally anyone, why did it have to be her? Has to be some behind the scenes type thing where they just wanted to bring the Shirley VA back with the others or something.
The ending with him shouting near all those fleeing citizens and then him and C.C. walking hand in hand through them, like doesn't the whole world know the demon Lelouch? They would all recognise him and know he's supposed to be dead, I'm sure they even touch on this earlier in the film about having to conceal him.
that revive song at the end was bad too. when code geass always had such an amazing OST. Just because it fits the theme of the movie, don't add some cheesy awful song, can you imagine that as a Code Geass OP&ED? It would easily be the worse one.

But saying all that, it is super nostalgic to see all these characters and hearing their VAs again! In that sense this movie was good, just as a nostalgic romp through code geass, but I hope they don't overdo it because I can defo see this getting stale fast and reflecting poorly on Code Geass's status. That teaser was just...yeah...I know they want to revisit the world, characters and production, I just hope they can continue to do it in a way that doesn't ruffle too many feathers. So I guess I am eagerly anticipating the next release, but with bated breath, and extremely low expectations.

For love this is a great climax. Potentially a better ones if this movie get TV series. 24 episodes more than enough. Animation improved and less fight but also brilliant Lelouch came back with his 999 IQ. Lelouch going together with C.C and change his name to L.L. I think it's like a propose? well they are suit together thought. Their mission is to wipe out the Geass users to be a balancer of the world. Thought the one who turn to be god now is Lelouch or maybe a Shinigami for Geass user. Very enjoyable show but not as entertain as the second season. The peak of the show still on the second season. Great stuff to watch, happy end for all of them.

LELOUCH IS BACK! IN FLESH!!
Man it was AMAZING seeing lelouch be Zero again. Although we all knew Lelouch will come back to his normal self, I got super excited when I heard his voice trying to help CC like a goosebump feeling.
Most of the nightmare battles being NON cgi unlike agito the exiled was very enjoyable although I wish it showed more to some of the battles like Suzaku vs Chario since I feel like Chario could’ve been one of the few people in the CG timeline who could challenge Suzaku at this point. Even Kallen’s fight was very lackluster but I can’t complain since the movie is about Lelouch. Seeing Lelouch’s plan fail multiple times felt very refreshing and him overcoming the challenge because of CC’s encouragement really showed their relationship well.

Overall without going too in depth I really enjoyed this movie(9/10). Although I genuinely feel this movie could’ve been better told in a series format called R3 but I loved this movie so much from the soundtrack, returning characters, and everything Code geass. Truly felt like this movie wanted to fulfill what fans ever wanted from the code geass franchise and enabling all the fan theories of Lelouch. Oh, and lack of more Shirley screen time felt weird since she was brought back alive in the recap movie timeline but her purpose in this movie was just a delivery girl of Lelouch with only like 1~2minutes of screen time lol

So some important key aspects of this movie off top of my head are:
-Lelouch has both the code and geass, hence the name code geass.
-Suzaku will still be Zero
-Lelouch will become LL and will travel with CC
-Zero requiem was for the most part a success as most of the world is in peace
-There are definitely some remnants of geass users alive.
-Nunally has finally had a proper goodbye with Lelouch as with most characters.
-We still don’t know CC’s real name.

Finished on 16th June 2024 at 23:12 Hrs IST.

Some Highlights:-

CC has become BIG!!

It's good; I like it. However, it ruins the development of Lelouch's character from the original two seasons, but since this is an alternate timeline, I guess it doesn't matter.

I would describe this whole episode as a fan-service movie. There are all the beloved characters and they get along very well. For no reason there are no grudges, hatred or conflict in any way. This whole movie and all its characters lack ... character. Like taking a drama and making a LEGO game out of it. It may be fun as long as you don't take it too serious but it will lack any deeper meaning.
