This finale...felt idk, kinda underwhelming. It's still the usual gimmicks in this anime but hey, glad to see Chiho doing better since her coma.

It felt like Chiho was feeling a bit helpless after all that happened but she's keeping a good spirit. Average season imo, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to this show after all these years. For whatever that new project is coming up, really hope the animation quality improves.

Hmm... some things were revealed in this episode regarding Raguel and his sonar and then Emi's hero identity. Also, Chiho woke up which was totally expected. Maou looked cool. It was a decent wrap-up to the season with little action in the end. The only good thing about this season was 'Alas Ramus' and her adorable tantrum about her parents. But, I'm just happy that we even got a second season after nine freaking years. So... yeah. It was a give-or-take situation all around.

But, in the end, this season was too underwhelming tbh. It felt like nothing happened in the story. The plot and story didn't move that much tho new characters were being introduced. Also, the production issues, I feel like were some of the reasons why it felt a little soft. From White Fox in the first season to 3Hz in the second. I feel like 3Hz were way too rushed on this season by KADOKAWA. I hope they don't do the same for the next season and let them take their time, but since the rumors have already been surfacing about a Season 3 in 2023, it doesn't feel that this is going to be any better than 2nd season.

*fingers crossed* anyway

So it is, that the Heroes and Devils work together to seek out both Angels Raguel and Gabriel at the broadcast towers. Plus, Chiho having been embedded by the Yesod ring from Lailah, everyone's into the Ente Isla business now. Even the afro guy (Raguel) that both Maou and Ashiya met the last episode, it's all war and no games.

The Angels Gabriel and Raguel vs the rest, and Maou's demon character design just looks damn generic as hell, NOTHING unlike White Fox's stint at the time. Also, this "fight" (if you could call it that) is just rushed and plain bad, with the Angels retreating at the sign of their loss.

In the end, what Chiho managed to get from Lailah's sources, Maou certainly understood how deep her knowledge went, and even she is brought into the fray now as an outsider who holds the key to bring Ente Isla back to normal.

Even if there was a sequel leak (which has since been confirmed), I'm not very optimistic going forward to see such a classic series being treated like utter trash. Such a huge disappointment.

Man, this was underwhelming. I know it’s not fully the animation team’s fault because I was about halfway ahead of this season with the manga adaption, but the dead-pan adaption certainly made it worse.

To be honest, I actually missed out most of the episode because I’m more interested in checking out Summertime Render’s final ep instead on Tokyo MX. I only managed to see the last few mins xD and it seems like Chiho-chan will have a role to play in Ente Isla soon, that does sound interesting, I suppose.

Season 3 announced, after a short wait only thankfully. I really hope that things will liven up a little more because this season turned out to be really boring, in al fairness. 5/10 from here.

I’m not going to drag this out too much but I really got to say, this used to be up there on the top of me “please give me a sequel, ffs” list. And now, here we are. But well, I’m still happy that we got this and are going to get more.

Biggest disappointment of the year for me.
It was just extremely boring all the way through and the animation looks worse than S1.

started decent, mashed up multiple arcs in the middle, then ended this last episode like it was a formality to put out and air.

didn't really like the story to begin with but had expectations since the first season was actually well adapted from the source material. this time, it felt like the quality of each episode dropped every previous episode that ended. the production team was just asking for bad pacing adapting 3-4 arcs in twelve episodes. the arc on the beach as well as the farm felt like stretched out OVA's that could've done as badly in just two episodes. didn't like it overall but made for a decent gap filler for the better animes that aired for the season.

The expectation of this is high when consider that the first season is the frontrunner anime in 2013. The best moment is when Maou is doing his part-time job, whether at the beach or on the farm. I find the drama between heaven and hell quite confusing, or dare I say, unnecessary. Just show me Maou preparing french fries and serving burger.

Welp that’s the end of the one of the most mediocre shows I’ve ever seen. Production qualities were very subpar throughout. Even the fights today looked so cartoonish it was hard to take them seriously.

That said, the plot did start getting interesting at the end with Emi’s mom and her plans. That whole chiho possession convo at the end set up a lot of stuff that I’m curious about. Daath, sepiroth lands, etc I’ll for sure watch season 3 for the answers but I don’t have any type of quality expectations.

Well, this season killed all my hype and joy for the series back in ´13. What´s worse than being bad? it is being boring. Not only we had a bunch of filler episodes with no relevance to the plot, but the comedy was horrible, the characters were horrible, the animation was atrocious (how the fuck does the first season looks better when it was made 10 years ago) and the whole story makes little sense, specially when they put so much focus on Chiho now.

I doubt I´ll watch S3, this is just a 5/10 to me.

The final battle was meh. Anyway lots of info drop this episode which were nice. Also Maou finally got his TV.

Okay season, not much comedy and more SoL, story focus which weren't bad but the production of this season was so bad that it dragged it down further. Sequel was announced, hopefully it'll have better production.

Thinking back how hyped everyone was for this season, terming this even as a major dissappointment seems to be an understatement. Thank goodness this didn't have any major content cut, otherwise we would've had an unwelcomed competitor for the absolute tragedy promised neverland season 2 was.

I still don't get any of this grand plan Emi's mom cooking, may next season help. Hopefully.

I'm kinda confused myself, either because the plot becomes dull or it's just all the bad execution? We've been anticipating this for like almost 10 years but I never thought it would end like this. Big wasted

I'm pretty sure, the plot does go a bit dull but the terrible execution and bad animation makes it way worse. Had the animation and the execution been a better, we probably wouldn't even have noticed the dullness in plot. But, nevermind, fingers crossed for a better S3 and I hope they return to the art style they followed in S1. Overall I'd appreciate the efforts of the show and give it 6/10 I guess

Its a good thing there's been a sequel announced immediately since we get that crazy ominous message. Chiho having her body taken over I didn't like too much but it did setup future stuff so whatever. These last few episodes after everyone got back from all the places thru visited weren't really doing it for me but overall this season I'd say was on par with the first season. I wasn't ever the biggest fan of devil is a part timer but I watched it on a whim back when it was on Netflix years ago. So I decided to keep going by watching this second season. Itself not much difference between the earlier season other than the art style. The comedy and characters are on even level. This season we did get lots more bonding between Maou and Chiho, having to go to her family's farm gave them lots of time together. Along with Chiho helping out with Alus Ramus, Chiho definitely got more spotlight. Alus Ramus was the cutest little thing all season long! Definitely my favorite part of this new season. Continuing on with where season one left us and now setting up season three!

Chi's Melons were HUGE in this final episode, yummy :)

As for this season 2, it was ok but forgettable, unlike season 1 which was memorable.

Only reason why I never dropped it was because all the characters in this anime are charming enough to make you keep watching.

Well, off to season 3, and hopefully season 3 concludes this franchise.

Well Emi isn't wrong because work is the only way in modern society. Maou taking the citizen route though was funny. The truth about the angels though was actually more normal than I thought. Chi chan being granted powers to help out though was a nice usage of her character here. The insight into Emi's origin really worked well with her own insecurities that she had been having. The aerial battle at the tower though was a lot of fun. Though its unfortunate that they couldn't take the two down at least with Chi chans help the enemy was repelled. So Lailah's plan is to reunite the land and bring peace to Ente Isla huh. Pretty noble plan. Looking forward to seeing more next season.

Most likely pre-planned, probably thought it would be a massive hit considering how well loved S1 was (just like Shield Hero S2 which was also a disappointing mess).

What the hell was that fight. There are so many things I'm frustrated with: the anime production, the quality, the story of the anime and how it feels rushed or nonsensical, and the light novel (mainly since it's not an anime original, so most of my story complaints are aimed at the LN).

This season was a luck 4/10, an now I don't like Emi.

The fighting in this episode looked pretty rough. I think they'd be better off keeping it light rather than trying to show off battles.

Well, overall it wasn't bad, but I'd be hard-pressed to say it was good too. It was fine. That being said, I'm not sure if I'd bother with season three. The humor seems to be gone now, and I'm not particularly invested in this story.

Meh final... but in the end it's still teasing about the next events so why not since they're doing a 3rd season, but this one was clearly not on the level of the 1st one sadly, on both story and animation even though it's 10 years later.

So this season banks way more heavily on Oppai-chan, even granting her superpowers in the final episode, and suddenly the whole series is much worse? That has to be a coincidence, right? Right? /s

Never liked her, never will. From the very start I was annoyed by how she was supposed to be the first and best link to humanity for the entire Ente Isla "family", but she was just oppai. No brains, no awareness, no sense, just oppai. And now she somehow plays a major role in the series. Because reasons? Probably because oppai. Screw that. Her becoming the focus of this season ruined the series for me. If this "divine possession" doesn't turn out to be a fluke and she doesn't go back to being a forgettable side character, I'm not going to finish the next season. It's literally the first time I raged about a character on this site, but Oppai-chan just grinds my gears. She literally, actively makes the series worse, and the fact she's getting so much screen time is absolutely criminal.

Chiho has gone super saiyan with a quincy bow. Interesting.

This was beyond rushed, the ending fight was underwhelming, and Maou's true form was lacking the intimidation it had in the first season.

I'll probably be skipping s2 part 3, or s3, whatever they're calling it. Also, alus ramus added next to nothing good to the show. Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard.

At least we got tons of screentime of Maou's true love this season, best girl vibes

That was a decent finale, Gabriel and his afro buddy teamed up to take on powered up Ashiya and Maou (about time lol) but were soundly defeated with the help of Emi Yusa and Chiho showing up to assist. There were also some big plot reveals, like Emi Yusa’s dad being alive and what Lailah plans to do with Earth and Ente Isla. That was pretty spooky when Chiho was under Lailah’s control, but immediately transitioning back to the sweet Chiho helped ease the spooks lol. And we end on one last shot of Maou and the gang messing with their new TV, I loved how Suzuno was bewildered by it lol.

The long awaited Season 2 is already over, I don’t have the connection with this series some do as I just watched Season 1 early last year, but I definitely felt some of that hype that came with this Season 2. And I personally enjoyed this quite a bit, it definitely wasn’t as good as the first season in not just the animation department, but also the story, as I think this was a bit of a slow point, but I definitely still enjoyed it. It was nice seeing these classic characters back in action and goofing around. That OP being by the same artist that did the first OP was really good as well, it definitely reminds me a bit of classic anime OPs from the early 2010s, and the ED was also nice and had a similar vibe the original had. And I’m happy to know that a Season 3 is confirmed, I was really hoping they would keep going after this and it’s great to see they are. I know some weren’t happy with this 2nd Season but I’m definitely excited for the next one.

Imma keep it a buck fifty. I was happy season 2 was announced and I watched it through for the memes. But I honestly couldn't care less for the plot at this point. This season didn't have nearly as much of an impact as the first season. So, if by any weird chance this gets a season 3(Nevermind it already is confirmed) I probably will not watch it.
Having said that, it was an okay season, but nothing special in the end, no matter how open you leave the ending.

Yeah, pretty underwhelming and boring finale overall. Hataraku Maou-sama lost its charm the moment it became more plot-oriented, which happened halfway through season 1.

Awful second season. Story has become incredibly dull, comedy is not funny anymore and every scene featuring Emi is practically a pain in the ass.
Not to mention the inconsistency in both animation and art. Practically as inconsistent as Chiho's breast size throughout the season...
