Little girl with a big gun lol

I'm thinking this show is definitely focusing each of the individual main cast for each episode more, starting with Gekka. Still a lot of cute scenes from this episode and seems the show is never shy from giving the cast more sweets and food.

I also didn't expect a new episode so quickly. Well, it was as good as the first one.

Haizakura and Gekka are probably the cutest characters of the season. <3

I loved that night scene. Poor Gekka has a very rough past. It felt good to see that little smile on her face. :)

Episodes back-to-back? what's up with that?

Anyway, a good episode. And with Gekka, we got a bit of her backstory, and I was just stone-faced.
Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load.

It’s not back to back. The first ep came out last Sunday but it has a contract with abema so they get it first then other licensors get it on Sunday US time.

The reason this got a new episode was because AbemaTV airs RAWs 5 days in advance before other streaming sites where there are subbed. This actually also happened with episode 1, most people just didn't notice.

I personally loved the episode, we're building up the world which even the webnovels barely explore, and we've finally gotten a backstory and content for Gekka, which is a character none of the stories so far have touched properly. Also that princess doll at the beginning looking at the "top" of the hierachy, makes me believe she might control our beloved dolls in the future...

For those who keep asking, the episodes come out on Sunday, abema just have an exclusivity thing so they get the eps early.

I’m cautiously optimistic Maeda Jun/Key can regain lost form with this. I liked the first episode a lot, this one seemed to build upon that and give Gekka nice backstory. Got some nice info about how the dolls work and their chain of command as well. Something about the master just seems a little off to me, idk.

You should note that this isn't written by Maeda, Maeda doesn't make all of Key's stories, and he's currently busy with Heaven Burns Red. This one is written by Kai, who also wrote several routes for Clannad, and Summer Pockets.

Gekka handled that blue mechanica quickly and efficiently. What a cute little badass.

Haizakura is the joyful innocent spark that will unite all the dolls when shit goes down, I can already see it. This is a really sweet show so far.

Haizakura has a nice singing voice. Starting to like her more now.

Gekka show her skills as a veteran in the war. Her job is reconnaissance, so it's probably why she's also good at catching enemies doing recon..

looks like someone is planning bad things for them. That mechanica that got shot down looks like it was spying on their cafe.

Haizakura seems to be pretty oblivious of what she is still it makes things fun to watch.
She was trying hard with her dancing and singing even if not everyone appreciated it.
There seems to be a lot going on and it seems like it might have big effects on the girls very soon, still i hope it won't come of the cost of the relaxed atmosphere this anime currently has.

Though clumsy Haizakura's just adorable when she's flustered. An old comrade that wasn't too pleased on seeing the master take on the role of a café owner huh. Cute opening theme both vocally and in terms of visuals. Its nice to see the expansion on the models and lineages that exist within the automata. Inaba's damm cute. So the castle's also the seat of government huh. The insert song was pretty cute. Gekka's jetpack though sure was timely. Looks like Gekka carried a lot of guilt for times when she wasn't able to provide timely intel for her friends that ended up costing them their lives. Gekka's little skirmish while showing well her skill also did well to showcase the kind of threat that the Line pose as well. Overall an excellent ep that did well to both expand the world and lore while doing the same for the cast.

Great episode! Seems we aren't following the web novel story order at all in the anime.
Flustered Haizakura is too cute especially with her myuus xD.

HOUKIBOSHI CAN SPEAK IN THE WN AND THERE ARE VOICED LINES WHY CAN'T SHE IN THE ANIME. I WANT TO HEAR HER AWESOME VOICE.

Karasuba is best girl.
Haizakura gets Inaba! (Inaba-chan's adventures twitter page is awesome!)
Gekka taiyaki purse... reminds me of Ayu the taiyaki thief lol.
They ran out of eggs so Gekka, Haizakura and Inaba went to get some.
Haizakura's singing was beautiful!
Chiyo leads them to the peddler who apparently is selling eggs.
Haizakura fell...
Gekka flew them there xD.
They manage to to get eggs and serve omlettes in Kuronekotei!

Looking forward to the next episode!

What's interesting is... apparently this is starting to become a fairly used theme...

Luminous Witches is also using this theme where girls with injuries and can't fight on front line decide to become Idols instead, lol.

The "broken and repurpose" theme isn't that new tho. There were some past series where MCs finishes their "original purpose" and needed to find a new way to live.

___ ___ ___

LOL @ the "assistant doll" for Haizakura... it's a toy bunny.

BTW... are the dolls being paid to work? sounds like a scheme where the government uses dolls as free labor.

Not only that, but apparently the "war" is still going on and the dolls we're watching are just dolls that can no longer fight on the battlefield.

___ ___ ___

BTW, Gekka's wings reminds me of Cirno from Touho, LOL... (just recolor it to blue)

Also, it looks like all the dolls had some sort of military history where the dolls suffered some sort of injury or overuse and broken down and become unable to fight in the war anymore.

And for Gekka... it looks like she couldn't make it back to her camp and her squad all got killed. As to the reason why she couldn't sleep at night.

I didn't like this episode. Haizakura's getting on my nerves, and her advice to Gekka was just extremely dismissive and insensitive. I mean, come on! You don't just tell someone who's lived through war and unimaginable pain to just "get over" their bad memories and experience! That's the cardinal rule when comforting someone!

Haizakura is way too cute with her cheerful personality and her adorable little song. Inaba is the perfect little mechanica familiar for her to control. It suits her!

Gekka is pretty adorable too. I can totally understand why she said she was “broken” after that story. That’s a lot of guilt to be shouldering. It was nice seeing her smile at least twice this episode and even sing a bit. At least she tried to start putting the past behind her. These dolls might be machines, but they sure act pretty human most of the time.

But boy did this episode take a turn in those last few minutes. You think this is just another “cute girls doing cute things” anime and then right at the end you get Gekka executing a mechanica. Those Imperial Line Faction people are gonna definitely be a real problem for the girls.

Oh pace is still fast although it has slowed down a bit compared to first episode. We're finally getting to the skin of the story. nice nice.
So far no death flag yet. Not foreshadowing nor subtle hints about death or possible sad things. The foreshadowing was on Haizakura's true identity (following up last episode's), which prob will get a big reveal later as we get conflict and action.

That OP and that ED... are certainly KEY's lol

Rather than watching fairly boring slice-of-life shenanigans, why couldn't we have had the anime about these automata fighting in the apparently-still-ongoing war? Those scenes in Gekka's flashback were far more interesting than anything else in the episode, and even then they were weakened by lacklustre presentation (just flat, monotone exposition that doesn't even remotely sell how high stakes her situation was) and ill-fitting OST. That said, what even is the war situation in this show? Cos it sounds like their country is at peace but the war is still going on? The show really hasn't explained it well at all.

Haizakura telling her to "just forget" about her PTSD was astonishingly insulting and tone-deaf: that's not how PTSD or mental health in general works. That's literally the equivalent of telling someone with depression "just stop being sad" and expecting it to work. You'd think Key would understand these sort of emotions when they constantly write stories about them, but not in this case apparently.

Also, I feel like at this point they're shoving in one mechanica/automata combat scene each episode so that they can technically say "oh, it's not just a slice-of-life anime", rather than actually wholly committing to that aspect of its premise. Cos apparently the writers woul rather do a mediocre GochiUsa than tell the actual interesting story underneath properly?

This already screams the same as Arsnotoria, though holding the real plot is what makes these shows work...that unfortunately, also makes them really boring., util it kicks in.

Haizakura still needs some escorting around to do, and this case, the Black Cat Cafe is short on eggs that Gekka is called to accompany her to do some outside shopping. The humans outside certainly haven't seen dolls outside, but it's clear that there's some danger if there's commotion. And by hook, they can sell coz they've got it.

In regards to Chiyo's automata history, she's also a broken one being used as a frontline soldier as its only use, yet another reject that still has its usefulness...that is, until the final minutes where Chiyo exterminated it with precision.

The Imperial Line Faction will be a real pain in the ass for the automata girls going forward.

there is a ceasefire currently in effect, so the large scale war is temporarily over. We see plenty of soldiers went home by boat in the news on this episode.

there is a group of soldiers called the Line Faction who don't want peace, and want to keep the war going.

I'm still not sure if was the right choice to destroy that mechanica spying on them.. destroying it could provoke the enemy to send more... but letting it get away with information it had gathered could produce bad things for the cafe as well.

What a journey just to buy eggs lol, I like that blond automaton but I don't think she's really broken as she said, she can still feel emotions but she's too conditioned to her raison d'être and all the violence around it, seeing a bit of her past sure proving how mentally affected she must be.
