This episode is kinda inspirational. Seeing a small mouse dude like Chiu taking on a skilled armored warrior with his life on the line. Yikes.

At least Gome made a somewhat impact in that fight. A very brave guy but also I felt bad for him since he was almost killed.

To be really honest, IMO it would have been better to put the new opening on episode 52 but since we are all starved to see it (wining a week is ok i guess :p)

Good episode, very thuthfull to the manga

Wow. This episode gave a lot of surprises. Like wow. The Royal Guard only survived because Block or the Rook literally just shielded them and at the same time went deep enough for them to survive. That is a pretty smart move. However, Hadlar called them off after taking out those who are unworthy. Chui was actually really cool. As for the Bishop piece. Dang man. He got nailed in by Gomechan. Then Baran shows up and having to tell the Bishop piece to go. Like wow. I love Baran so much. I wonder what he is trying to do now?

I knew the Royal Guard couldn't have been just all blasted away even with that powerful of a spell. Block did the smart thing just sheltering everyone else underneath him while taking most of the blast. Its interesting that Hadlar and the Royal Guard want Dai and his crew to enter the field of death for the real showdown. Just not any other humans to interfere, it shows the level of respect Hadlar has for Dai and his friends. The royal guard does need to recuperate after being beaten badly. Along with letting the heroes formulate a plan of attack this time instead of just Dai and Popp running in blind. This episode did have majority of it be Chiu leading his followers through the field of death trying to find some way to get inside the fortress. That gate underwater seems promising but impossible to open, plus being underwater how could it even be opened by anyone. Fenbren did get super brutal there. Chiu showing that grit protecting his troops. So excited that Baran is coming back! Figured we hadn't seen the end of him since the last time they parted after the big fight didn't seem final. Baran coming to hopefully help Dai beat the royal guard and Hadlar and maybe even Vearn too.

Chiu has blue/green blood or is it just a censorship?

Anyway, love this episode, especially when my wife Baran is back!

I think this might even be a better episode than the last one. No, not because of 2D vs 3DCG technical aspect, but the fact that we learn that each chesspiece warrior has different personality. We can see that while Block is quiet but he's not stupid, he's brave and intelligent and willing to put his life to protect his friend. Albinass is very loyal to hadlar, the mission is always come first for her. Fenbren has such a cruel narcissism personality. Mirror of Shahal won't break even if Sigma died, which is basically a death flag. Hym puts his own satisfaction from fighting a good match above all other priorities.

This is such a textbook shounen anime, in fact I think it actually is.

The enemy team got called back by the image of their boss.

Humans found out they were gone while tending the injured, and went to help out.

Non-human team found the place for the enemy but got found by another team member. In danger and someone unexpected helped them (Dai's father).

Final day for the current OP & ED (new OP & ED will be aired next Saturday)

monster blood is blue. Everytime Crocodine bleeds it's blue. Changing from red to blue was also part of the ryumajin transformation.

By the way, I love what they did with last week preview, not spoiling the Royal Guard surviving. With how then tend to say to much in those, it was a nice surprise.

Yay! Omni-man to the rescue! Shame he did not disposed of that Bishop while he could. It might bite everyone in the ass later.

I can't wait for the new opening and ending song next week. I hope it is good....

Also, the upcoming cour (12 episodes) will be so good and has some of the best fights !!

I noticed small change between the manga and the preview for next week

Just as I thought, the Royal Guard survives thanks to Block using his tanking skills to shield them from the blast. Just as the Royal Guard were making their retreat, Fenbren, the bishop piece was sent to deal with Chiu and his friends snooping around the Field of Death. Even though Chiu had no chance against Fenbren, he hung in there until Baran stepped in and saved them. I wonder what is Baran's motive is now? Is he going to take a stand against the Dark Army and side with Dai?

Wow. Never expect i can hold on my stand watching Dai no Daibouken until this time, but here i am at the 50th episode already. Well, as expected the chess piece gang really persistent, successfully denied the straight death of fate, and yeah, deserve enough to be a long-term enemy to serve together with Lord Hadlar. As they were goin back, and Dai took a rest, Chuu little adventure found the gate underwater of the field of the death. But, the FenBren blocked his way out and showed the real personality of him.

Unexpectedly Gome-chan rammed him strongly, and then, dang, that's Baran. Trying to make the last beef to Vearn? Really looking forward to see the next....

I knew Gomechan was going to do something spectacular sooner or later, knowing about it's rarity. Half way done, can't say it's been the best watch. Everything is just so linear and predictable in old school shounen, nothing really blows you away or leaves you very curious about certain events, less nuance than modern shounen, etc. In other words, it's "actual age" is showing. Yuu Yuu Hakusho was the same.

Thank fuck for the decent characters.
