I like that they are actually trying to explain some stuff about the world and confirming that Kumoko’s storyline is actually set in the past. Assuming she is the Demon Lord, I’m not sure why she is attacking the humans and why she had so much insubordination in her ranks. They had corp names so it wasn’t like they just formed, right? They probably just have to explain it more. |

This isnt just about a spider leveling and without them there is no story Shun is practically a generic anime protagonist with zero personality and gets half of the story for himself, so I bet he is there to be an audience surrogate. A lot of things were disclosed in this episode. As I suspected the Kumoko we have been seeing is in the past, roughly 15 years ago. I was't sure if Kumoko was reincarnated later, if the souls of her classmates were reincarnated into teenage bodies, or if we saw Kumoko in the past and her classmates in the present (who were reincarnated from birth). It turns out it's the last one. Therefore the ominous presence the (deceased) Hero felt (and what that white spider he and his team beat feared) in that cave earlier must have been Kumoko. But not as we see her now, obviously. If in a few months(?) -the time she's been in that cave is unclear but it surely must be less than 6 months- Kumoko got that strong, strong enough to defeat a bad-ass Fire Dragon, after 15 years (if she is still in the cave and alive, i.e. if Oka-chan lied) she must be the Ultimate Queen or even Goddess of that cave. Another thing we learned is there are at least 3 re-incarnated students as demons, one of which is that super bratty Demon Lord girl. It's also possible that Administrator D is from Japan as well - not one of the students, since if she's a human she would be a toddler 15 years ago. She is not Oka-chan either, since D's VA is -almost certainly- Saori Hayami (she recently voiced Rachel from Tower of God) who has not been credited yet. Oka-chan's VA is Kaya Okuno. We saw a second Administrator too, who according to D they are the "Gods" of this world. I wonder if you normally level up to them. It appears that everyone is speaking in a native language but we just hear it as Japanese for convenience. Kumoko cannot understand them because she probably lacks a "real time translation" skill or something, but her classmates who were raised from babies in this world obviously do not need that. ldanes said: As far as I remember, they were reborn since they were little, since I think that two chapters ago the classmates talked about how the silver-haired girl had changed to how she was before, besides that there is a reborn who is an elf and is older than them, can which refutes the theory that they were all born at the same time, just look at the dragon, it barely evolved in the first chapters. (You wrote "chapters" but I assume you meant "episodes", right?) I thought that the dragon girl was not an issue, assuming that she just grew at a very slow rate, maybe because she was in a protected environment and thus did't need to enhance her skills to survive*, unlike Kumoko. Besides it was hinted by the (deceased) Hero that the egg that was retrieved when Kumoko's web home was burned was that girl (unless that was a red herring and the egg was her mother or something). However I overlooked the Elf. If Oka-chan is indeed older (I mean in calendar years of the new world, she obviously was quite older in Japan) then that refutes the theory that they were all reincarnated at the same time and so .. all bets are off. Still, based on what the former Hero said, the Kumoko we saw in the first few episodes was indeed born (or, rather, hatched) 15 years before the year we see the other students. Every other student seems to be of the same age, so that would make Oka-chan the only anomaly. Unless, that is, the Demon Lord brat is a couple of years younger - she looks younger but it is very difficult to define ages in anime. *Maybe because she used to bully Kumoko pre-reincarnation whomever/whatever reincarnated the class placed them close together on purpose, either to test them, help them or just to have fun. Perhaps their plan was to have them meet, reconcile and co-operate in order to survive together and both get stronger. However those pesky humans took Feirune's egg and that presumed plan never materialized. Please do not spoil anything beyond the latest anime episode if you reply, thanks. |

The spoiler is me regurgitating all my thoughts and memories from episodes 6-9 that I just finished. All about the demon lord and the student/kumoko timelines and the students' lives before reincarnating but I rewatched parts of episodes 8 and 9, this is definitely the events that occurred. kumoko's adventures are happening at a different time than the students' time in the school. We saw Kumoko's home destroyed by some adventures, letting them harvest her silk to make the scarf. So that means kumoko's story happened 10-15 years ahead of everyone else. And the fact that she was gaining all these crazy demon/abyss/hell etc. magic skills, she's the demon lord now. Cause the demon lord used that string ability on 2 of the commanders. Plus the last thing she said was "I feel bad for Yamada". Oh, and with how secretive the teacher was being about everything a few episodes, it would make sense that some of the remaining students were reincarnated as demon lord commanders, since the 8th, I think, was clearly reluctant to be a part of the invasion. Oh yeah, and the man who approached kumoko in the labyrinth when she killed the dragon, was standing behind the demon lord. "Back then, I didn't imagine this is how we'd end up". So he was def talking to kumoko. The episode featuring the students as they were at school was good, even if I found it a little hard to keep track of who was who. I think the most important details were that Natsume (Hugo) didn't start out with an ego, he looked like he was friendly with yamada. And then I think the girl who was reading the manga is the girl who became kumoko. That was Wakaba, whom the teacher said was dead when Fei (dragon) asked, and the reason Fei asked was because she and her friends had bullied wakaba when they were students so that's why fei asked and why she was shaken when she was told wakaba was dead. I don't really know who that negishi kid was supposed to be. Probably important eventually. Also I really liked the way the teacher was calling all the students' names, like this has been a teacher who cared to do as much for her students as she could, even before they got reincarnated. There's def been a lot of things I've started to appreciate since the first couple episodes. At first I didn't really get why there was this magic high school plot, but I can see they're much more important. Hugo, the student who tried to kill Yamada, totally thinks he's the hero and doesn't realize or doesn't care that he's in a real world with other living people (even if we know there's an administrator, I think this reasoning makes sense). I also loved the scene with the teacher reminding yamada why these skills are so dangerous, with hugo as a case for the dangers of someone getting over-confident; then a cut immediately to kumoko cackling at getting another wall of text with all the crazy skills she gained. I loved the way Julius' death was handled. Like maybe I could have learned more about him in order to care about him. But the way yamada just suddenly gained his skill, and instantly told him his brother was gone. 3 eps left, then another season! My only issue is going to be getting to the end of the series, and I'm going to want to know how the rest of the story goes. But it sounds like the way to do that is through the light novels. And aside from finding them, I tend to prefer watching an anime to reading the same story. |

decent episode for once though they really just dropped a shit ton all at once ,show has been deliberately showing both now known past and future at the same time to be misleading and that seems like the case going forward on a lot of other stuff as well like we've hardly seen anything of the demon lord side and feels too obvious pin Kumoko as the demon lord |

Spider isekai never stops surprising me! Kumoko is so badass now, and i love how they show it with people, yet she has far more skills than they all combined xD Lmao so her spider web is the top-notch you can get in that world? Oh boy, i can't wait for her to come to the surface and finally show off haha Also, we finally know a little more about the administrators. Can't wait for the next episode. |

I don't get how people are so confused about the 15 years gap. If anything I was confused why she seemed to be born so much later, but did not really bother with it (If everyone was reborn around the same time, the humans would still be babies right?) Pretty cool concept to explore though, the fact is that spiders/animals in general grow much faster, and Kumoko being in such a wild place did not have time to just "chill", she had to become strong FAST to survive! Idk if she's the demon lord yet, I'd honestly be a "little" disapointed if she could just take on a human form like that (I'd rather her stay a legendary spider hahaha). I had to check back but it's in ep 6 that Julius and his group fight the "Nightmare's Vestige"... that bears a really strong resemblance to Kumoko, but really looks to be dumb and simplistic though and the name "Vestige" suggests that Kumoko might have been the "Nightmare of the Labyrinth" and that they were just fighting a sort of after-image that she left behind (maybe a future power?). Anyway, I enjoy the originality of the series, the main character's energy (she's just... fun and goofy lol) and while I prefer the dungeon's story, it looks like the human story line is there to slowly flesh out the world for when Kumoko will emerge, and we won't need a full episode explaining human politics so I'm thankful for that. |

I feel like she would be another one of their classmates they forgot about, I'd be willing to bet the other guy (girl?) that was bullied in that one flashback. You know, since they'd get revenge on their old classmates who are all living cushy lives in a new world after bullying him/her. |

Yeah, the alternative PoVs on volume 1 were skipped entirely and I think it's a damn shame. removing that introduction not only give new fans less reasons to care about those character, but also adds an unnecessary layer of confusion. I understand why they did that though, as those scenes would reveal the time difference almost immediately, but I still think these parts were missed. beast_regards said: I understand it for the teacher as she is presented as an admin so I expect her to know everything. In my opinion it's not a spoiler, just clarifying a confusion that may lead to more misconceptions, but anyway She does not have Administrator privilegies. At least it's not what she used to remove Hugo's skills. If you check you'll see that she used Ruler privilegies. We see an administrator creating a new skill later on that same episode and, what she did to Hugo seemed related enough that I admit it's fair to assume it's the same thing. But they are not. Ruler privilege is something we had seen Kumoko acquire when she got Pride and became "ruler of pride", but she didn't figure out how to use it at the time. Supposedly she accidentally used her ruler privilege to request the addition of one skill, and then was answered by the administrator D. In short, rulers are way lower than administrators |

Kumoko became an absolute babe, I really like the reveal that the spider stuff happened 15 years ago too lol, that’s wild. It makes sense I guess, since they probably would have all been reincarnated at the same time so the humans would have been babies when Kumoko was kicking ass. Awesome stuff. |

This episode was full of so many reveals that it's kinda insane in a way. They essentially confirmed that there's a 15 year time difference, they seemed to be talking about Kumoko being the one who had Fei's egg so the two "kinda" met back in the starting episodes when her house was destroyed then they went a step further to show Kumoko meeting that demon? fallen hero? before implying that she becomes the demon lord who wants a war. That transition must've been nuts. From taratecht to demon lord and someone who seems thirsty for a war though we don't know the reasons. This would also explain why Oka-chan said Kumoko was dead. There's a good chance that she didn't want them to realize that she's the demon lord because that'd be quite the shock. It's all feels too straightforward in terms of reveals so there must be something I'm missing. Either way, good informative episode and I can't wait for more. |

But we are getting to see humans and kumoko side by side ,so when we saw kumoko with that silk and egg human side was still the same as in this episode ... But they are saying that happened 15 years ago What I want to ask that is there a different rate of flow time of both sides or any other thing Sorry my English is not good.... So, what we are seeing now on kumoko's side is 15 years in the past and the human's side is the present The egg which kumoko had was probably of fei this is what I feel and about that silk cloth is was the silk of kumoko for sure sujal bhai confidence rakh khud mai padh padh ke seekh jayega tu bhi |

This is some really great storytelling. Laying out story threads (pun intended) like that scarf and egg, Admin D, Shun and the classmates. I'm actually feeling a little bad for looking up spoilers when the show started. I might've enjoyed it even more figuring it out as it went along. Like the scene when the "Hero" title came up. It'll be fun as they reveal it all in the coming episodes. |

I see a few people who have read the LN and who when others speculate about the anime says to just read the LN and all will be understood. What you have to understand is that there are people like me and others who do not want to read the LN yet and have not read them. We actually want to watch the Anime only and talk about the anime only and try and figure things out between us and discuss what we think may have happened and what will happen from the anime only perspective. Just like this episode it is rather fun. To not know everything and try and figure it out with the help of others who have not read Manga or LN. Also I think it is really truly hard to say how a reincarnated person with previous memories will turn out in the end. When and how will those memories bubble to the surface, how much of them will you embrace in this new world. Do you even think much about them after 15 years? I have no clue how I would handle that or deal with it. It is way to alien to truly know how I would react, guessing is only that, a guess. |

I really can’t believe I didn’t realize Kumoko was the demon lord sitting at the table until I checked this episode discussion when it was legit shoved right into the viewers’ faces, I guess switching the voice actors threw me off a bit edit: wow rewatching those scenes makes it even more obvious yet somehow it slipped past me |

Please, don’t take it in a bad way. It sure is annoying when people keep advising things that you absolutely have no intention of doing, but I’m sure their intentions are good for this series. In my opinion the anime ended up being much more a treat for LN readers than I’d ever expected. Not only because there’s only so much character development you can squeeze in 20 minutes and it hinders the show quite a bit, but also because of the little things they put in the anime that new fans have no way of knowing. You really don’t have to read the LN yet, but really, give it a go when possible. Chances are you’ll devour 10 volumes in a week. And then rewatch the anime, so you’ll understand what the fans are always giggling at. |

Also I will stop reading these Episode forum discussion threads because it seems impossible to read more than 1-2 posts before I get some minor or even major spoilers. Not only that xD Also seems pretty hard to have a proper discussion, it is more like everyone want to voice their opinion but not truly discuss the episode proper. It was fun at first but now I feel it is just getting in my way more than being fun or interesting. No hard feelings I just feel that I will enjoy it more that way. |

I understand why they did that though, as those scenes would reveal the time difference almost immediately, but I still think these parts were missed. If adaptation leaves out so many details it can't be understood without reading the source material, it is bad adaptation, and thus my complaint must be valid as someone's else is ruining writer's work Rarkis said: In my opinion it's not a spoiler, just clarifying a confusion that may lead to more misconceptions, but anyway She does not have Administrator privilegies. In short, rulers are way lower than administrators It's a world running on a game logic of levels, stats, and skills. The ability to remove skills at will with no other check is an extremely big deal following the RPG logic. It's basically one of the most important in the overall logic of the story. This means they either should explain early on, or they should focus on it over other things to built up the mystery for later reveal. They did neither. |
Signature removed. It was too good for this cruel world. |

Demon Lord mentioned Yamada real name at the end. DOes that mean she is originally from human/real world ?? EDIT: Maybe Kumoko and Demon Lord are same person ?? Because just noticed that spider timeline take pace before 15 year old ?? Maybe she became demon lord after 15 year ?! Because Demon lord seems to use spider web ! |

There are several hints already dropped throughout the currently released episodes, but pointing them out will lead to spoilers. Most of them are subtle hints but I can already name a few. More hints will likely be dropped moving forward then do another exposition episode like episode 9. |
