On MAL and general social media i don't see many people commenting about Uozumi and Shinako, most of the things i see about Haru and Uozumi. I think Shinako sounds like a pretty nice person and that Uozumi and her would make a great couple (setting aside some particularities of their relationship on the show). I didn't read the mangá so i don't know how the story will progress and end.

I don't care about "who ends up with whom" I want character build ups. And I think Shinako so far has more build ups than Haru.

Shinako is just kind of being an asshole because she knows how Rikuo and the other guy feel about her, but she's giving none of them real closure because she can't make up her mind. She'll straight out reject them and then proceed to lead them on only to reject them again. She doesn't do it maliciously, but at the same time those two are being toyed with because Shinako can't just be honest with herself. Haru on the other hand is very honest with herself and those around her. She makes her love of Rikuo very obvious, and when she isn't into someone (like that photographer guy Rikuo worked with) she is also equally open about not being interested. The Rikuo x Haru ship is more pushed because Haru objectively deserves Rikuo more than Shinako does for the aforementioned reasons....and those same reason make her a more mature person that would be a better partner in general. I feel very bad for Haru too....I don't think Shinako would be very phased if she and Rikuo just stayed friends, but Haru likes him so much, and it's so cute how excited she is to see him after she waits long hours for him....and to see her get pushed off for Shinako who is ambivalent to Rikuo's affection just kinda sucks....that's my Rikuo x Haru ship justification.

They are the only possible couple that feels natural, anything else will be just like fan service, and the development of both leads slow but clearly to that. Shipping is not one of my many skills (because all waifus belongs to me), but Uozumi and Shinako need (they seriously need it) to end together.

So far I'd say Shinako x Rikuo is more of a thing than Rikuo x Haru. Thou I do like Haru most in this anime but I'm fine with Rikuo x Shinako.

I was team Haru initially but so far relationship wise there is more development for Rikou x Shinako pairing. The romance development would have shift drastically to Haru in the second half otherwise Shinako ending is the only realistic outcome.

My idea is that shinako is way to selfish mixed with shiness/timidness, she is the type of women i avoid in real life in the sense that she needs to be "wanted" otherwise shes to confused, i also dislike her hesitation (i dislike the mcs hesitation aswell). Well i was only imposing my persona over her so IF i think out of the box and look at our mc then he should go with haru since he is not the pushy type so shinako aint good since she wants a pushy type BUUUT IM SURE if people work it out then they can build a relation even if they are wierd in the beggining. THe thing is i dont think the story will go that way and they wont change either the mc or shinako. Ah i dont mean to disagree with you maybe your right in your way and i dont dislike shinako as a person i just think both should be more open with their toughts not just the mc (because he is a guy) or her.

In my opinion, this anime is about moving in life, and with that I think Rikuo x Shinako is more preferable than Rikuo x Haru.
The way I see it Rikuo is trying to move on from his past self, someone who has no dreams and no motivation in life, and Shinako is trying to move on from her late first love, so I think Rikuo x Shinako is more preferable because I can see them supporting each other in life.
And I think these 2 has a very realistic relationship, and personality. They share the same problems and they have a history together as classmates.
I like Haru as a character but I ship Rikuo x Shinako

I think Shinako also deserves happiness. I like Haru, but for me, I think Rikuo should be with the one he liked for so long. Shinako is changing, Haru is pretty much the same...

I'm for Rikuo x Haru because when they’re shown together they feel natural. When Rikuo and Shinako are together things are awkward and they appear weird. I don’t care too much about who ends up with Rikuo but I would prefer Haru.

Honestly I don't really like any of the female characters of this anime...Shinako is too passive and she's annoying me because she's still stuck in the past even after so many years already passed...I don't like that she's so indecisive, she keeps Rikou waiting and waiting....

I would understand Shinako if the death of the guy that she loved was more recent but his brother was a child when he died and now he's a grown man, so many years have passed so the fact that she's still hung in the past is quite frustrating and shows that she doesn't have any will to improve herself and get better...if she doesn't want to get better she should leave Rikou alone because like this she's only caged him with her...she's caged and is not fair to put Rikou in the same cage that she is....

Haru she's too imature for Rikou...she's a kid...she's annoying and needs to grow more also is not right an adult guy to be with a collage girl....I think Haru its better fit for Rou...

I do think Shinako matches well Rikou but she needs to stop being like this, she needs to get better, heal herself and move on...Rikou changed himself so much and improved himself a lot...I liked how the character development is for Rikou but I wish Shinako character development was a little better...

Its been 11 episodes the 12th episode is the last one and Shinako is still not better...I don't understand will this anime have season 2?

She's 18 and for age seems very mature (probably because her hinted not so happy past). And considering that Rikuo just finished college one year ago it means that the age gap is something like 5-6 years which is not that much in this current age.

I completely with you, it just doesn't seems all that good when you see Rikuo and Shinako, but it can be very well the author intention considering that neither of them has too much experience with dating/being in a relationship. In addition, Rikuo has relatively low self-esteem, very low confidence and because of that is less pushy (just like Shinako sad some episodes ago), combined with the Shinako's stubbornness to move past her previous love. So the only two logical conclusion for why the atmosphere is so tense and awkward are scarce experience or Shinako not knowing if she is really in love with Rikuo. Besides, Shinako thinks is unfair for her to be with Rikuo knowing that Haru is genuinely in love with Rikuo, and her is more or less just testing the water to see if Rikuo is worth moving on past her past. Another point I think is Rikuo's general behavior and attitude (and the fact that's maybe too nice) that makes Shinako want to not hurt his feeling. All three characters are good people at heart, maybe to much so, and this created the whole situation. If even one of them were to be more straightforward, the situation would have been a lot simpler (e.g.: Rikuo telling Haru that he can't see her more than a friend, or Shinako realizing earlier if she loves Rikuo or not).

I really love this anime and story. All seems pretty grounded, down to earth and believable. The only think that worsen the whole series, in my opinion, is how is structured (and maybe this is only the anime's fault). The problem for me is that the anime starts with Haru for the first 3 episodes, describing her as a very likeable, with a cheering personality and a big little mystery about her past, which makes the viewer (and me) to want to see her more and to root for her. And after these episodes, she just appear less and less, and we are introduced more and more to Shinako, neglecting Haru almost completely, and if nothing else, for me, this structure tries to shift the audience's mind from Haru to Shinako without giving them to much of a reason other that the fact that Haru is barely present in the story anymore, and that Shinako is more or less the winner. And I don't dislike Shinako at all, it's just that I got really attached to Haru in the first episodes and I don't really think Shinako has almost any good traits (or quirks) that Haru doesn't have. For me Shinako is Haru but more depressed, not so cheerful and that tries to hide to much because she believes that's how adults are or should be.

Today is the last episode and a season two is pretty unlikely because of the material (there isn't much more) and at maximum will get maybe 3-4 Specials to and the story or that this episode will rush to the end, or it will be an anime original ending.

Anyway, sorry for the long read (hope you enjoyed my point of view) and I'm still hoping my girl Haru can make it at the end (even if the chances seems really low).
Still the anime is worth to watch 100% in my opinion.

I don't like the pairing. When Rikuo is with Shinako, he looks like he's not being himself, being very unusually nice, and stuff. With Haru, he speaks his mind and says what he means to say. If they got closer, that dynamic would be way healthier.

I basically feel like Rikuo puts Shinako on a pedestal, and I don't like that kind of dynamic in a romantic relationship.

Well, I pretty agree with you on everything you said. The anime seems going for Shinako so far, but I've feeling that Haru may be the "winner", I don't know why honestly.
By the way, I believe Haru's "better" than Shinako in term of personality. You know, if I should choose one of the two of them, I'd choose Haru. I'm rooting for her, in the end.
Let's see what will happen.

Not much to wait, and we'll see. And they're some hints that suggest Haru can "win". For example, the constant insecurity Shinako is showing (she hid to Rou the relationship with Rikuo for three months, and they didn't do anything important to develop in this period of time). I really hope the tables turn, but it seems very hard considering this is the last episode and they have to deal with Rou that just discovered their secret. In the best case scenario for Haru I can see, maybe they go the route I mentioned before and make 3-4 OVA to end the story and give Rikou more time to make progress with Haru. Well see here after the episode probably. 😁

Yeah, at first i was Rikuo x Haru but she hasnt really gotten any development so i've switched sides. Yeah, i didnt like her at first but i feel like shes starting to get better. I just cant really imagine a relationship with Haru because we really dont know what kind of person she is other than shes the girl who likes Rikuo and is about 18 years old with the liveliest personality of the show. 49m until ep 12 drop on crunchyroll so i'll see what happens.

This.

Shinako is harming Rikuo (and others as well). She's just leading him on and playing with his feelings, never ever fully honest or decisive about what she's doing. She isn't with him because she loves him or seemingly even particularly likes him for who he is as a person, she just wants to have him close on a leash so she won't be alone. There's absolutely no way I can possibly think "yup, this is a healthy relationship" when looking at the interactions between the two.
I don't even necessarily want Rikuo to end up with Haru, I just want them to be happy, even if it's with other people. As for Shinako, let's just say I hope she gets what she deserves too.

Now that the anime ended i feel like a really don't know nothing about nothing, i'm disappointed with both Uozumi and Shinako, she basically played him during hole the show. Even though the way that they express their fellings in the end seemed pretty realistc and also very sad.
