Just your average otaku. Watching anime casually since around 2010, and consistently from 2015 onwards. Besides anime, I love to play games, watch sports and all sorts of documentaries. I'm attracted to knowledge even though many of the subjects I know, it's just at surface level. When I don't do the above mentioned, I just spend the time listening to music, watching random YouTube videos or 9gaging.
When it comes to anime, I'm more of a character type. I get really attached to the characters, and even if the story is not as amazing as others, I still can love the anime if it has good characters. Generally this approach help me enjoy all kinds off genres and I think I have at least one anime from each genre that I really liked.
As for my top genre I love watching:
- Comedy/Romance
- Slice of life
- Shounen
Still I give all the anime a fair chance, no matter the genre.
For each anime, I give my verdict only after I watched it to the end, in some cases, only after I watched all the seasons, and I don't drop any, because usually I find
something to enjoy in all of them and, for the vast majority that I watch, I do a little bit of research before starting. With this being sad, I still have a lot of entries in my list that I added based on arts or scene I saw on different sources.
As for how I rate anime, here a little summary of my rating score system:
- 10 - An anime which I love whole wholeheartedly or one that I think should be watched by anyone.
- 9/8 - Close to a 10 for me, but it has all the potential to gain 1 or 2 point in the eyes of others if they really enjoy some aspects.
- 7 - Has some flaws, but is still a good watch if you're in this kind of anime.
- 6 - For the most part pretty generic, good if you're searching for something more light and easy to digest.
- 5-1 - Different levels of bad and in the most cases I don't recommend to watch if you still have a big backlog of other better anime.
In addition, I used the
Personal Pick tag for the anime that I rated as a 10, but with more of a biased opinion.
Almost all of the anime I rate 7 or above I think are usually worth watching or at least to give a try.
Q: What is your thought process when rating an anime?
A: In deciding a final score, I usually take in a count multiple factors: overall story, characters, animation, series length (number of episode/duration), if it has multiple seasons, my personal guilty pleasure factor etc. For me an anime can be a 10 even if the story or animation or characters aren't the greatest if other factors compensate for the not so good parts. And in my list you'll find some guilty pleasure (e.g. Infinite Stratos - one of the first harems/anime I watched and that I remember fondly, Gamers! - cuz I'm myself a avid gamer, Bleach - for the nostalgia), but for the most part I rate all my anime with other fans of the media mind, so if anyone who watches my list can find more easily what they're searching for.
Q: What are your favorite games?
A: My favorite genre of gaming is Action Adventure (Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Rising), but I play all kind of types (RPG/JRPG, Shooters, Turn-Based, Racing, Sports).
My top 5 is:
1. NieR
2. Devil May Cry
3. Persona 5
4. NFS Most Wanted (2005)
5. Yakuza

So you're watching Gintama that's great.
Well let me give you an advice.
Just for the information.
The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama.
