This was so much better than I was expecting, it was so funny and the scene in Starbucks was especially hilarious 😂

The art was really beautiful too and the Op & Ed are so cute and jolly! This was a strong start in my opinion!

That was actually really good. I was interested in this because of the art style and the premise, and what I got was a really funny and wholesome show about a (dirty) mangaka father trying to hide his job from his daughter. The scenarios were really fun, especially the Starbucks and bookstore scene. The OP and ED were pretty good as well.

I really like the word play from the title. Didn't realize what the title could mean until I watched this episode. "My father's secret is that he draws for a living." Really smart one.

I'll definitely watch this one until the end. Hope it stays funny and wholesome with no sudden changes and stuff.

Yeah, the word play was great. kakushigoto - kaku shigoto

Even their names (if you use 'given name followed by family name') are puns for 'secret'.
Gotou Kakushi = kakushigoto
Gotou Hime = himegoto

This was such a fun watch. Looking forward to the next.

Already my anime of the season. Think it’ll be a sleeper hit. Love the art, absolutely gorgeous. Characters are fun and the world feels alive. Takanashi rie is in it too so it starts at a 7.5 minimum

“Witch’s brew” that’s what I’m going to start calling Starbucks lol

Really loved this first episode, this is my type of show. Artistic, stylistic, funny, cute and wholesome. I love series that focus on parenting or parent-child relationships. I get the impression there’ll be a sort of bittersweet ending to this one though . Either way, can’t wait to see where it goes!

Edit: the seiyuu talent in this one is incredible.

You know I'd like sky-hopes for this prior to the airing, and it has absolutely delivered in flying colors! Spring 2020 is about the big guns, and quite rightly so, but I'm just as excited for this as some of those very big shots.

I have a weak spot for comedy and wholesomeness so this show is just up my alley. Add Kamiyan into the mix and you've got yourself a treat to look forward to, like seriously. Add to that Takahashi Rie, and it's a killer!

Kind of opened a new world to me, this episode. I wonder if this is shades of what real life mangakas who delve in this genre go through.

Star-(bucks) scene was my pick for the episode. Man, those kids are just too creative and the cameo from the teacher is just gold. Honorable mention to the editor scene, xD. Hime is just too kawaii ~

I'm calling it, this is going to be sleeper hit show of the season.

Love the artstyle too, very Shaft-like with the color usage, and the Op is just fabulous to the ears. I really can not wait to see what's next in store for us!

Really enjoyed this! Great introduction, artstyle reminds me of Shaft (I am aware that the author is the same as Zetsubo Sensei).

The directing and animation is great. Really looking forward to this series.

As soon as I saw the artstyle I knew it was gonna be SZS style of a show. Which is both good and bad. Some jokes (in both series) I found to be funny but other's were just dull as heck

I do like the wholesome bond between those 2, I did think this show was gonna be more akin to Bunny Drop initially but this more comedic approach isn't too bad

Well, comedy in anime is a hit or miss I guess. It was a miss for me, I thought it was quite boring. Plus I don't like this kind of art where grown-ups look like teenagers, and I'm tired with all of these daddy/daughter stories anyway.

But to those who liked this first episode, keep on watching and have fun. It's just not my thing.

Man, I'm so happy my life isn't devoid of joy so I can actually appreciate this, unlike a few people trying to create mountains out of molehills. Usually I'm the one finding issues with things most people like, too.

This show was absolutely charming, I especially loved the character design and color palette, it really added to the soothing atmosphere I felt the creator was trying to make.

With such strong direction and faithful telling of the jokes, wordplay, and story, this show can't fail. I had a smile on my face throughout the whole episode. Even though this isn't shaft's take on the manga it follows the same beats that it would have. And I think because of the type of series this is its perfect to be given to this staff. Thankfully the following episodes will be as charming and funny as the rest, coming from a manga reader.

Hiroshi Kamiya and Rie Takahashi, a pairing that we need not see but realize that this show has already a strong, funny and amusing, but definitely solid start indeed. Father Araragi and Daughter Takagi, the similarities can't be that uncanny, but Usagi Drop this isn't definitely.

For father Kakushi, drawing vulgar manga is his way of life, and hiding that from daughter Hime was a secret so funny that it must be concealed AT ALL COSTS. Didn't expect Hime to be as intelligent as the average teenager, but as innocent as a child in the face of adults. All those references are definitely the fun touch to add onto the comedy.

That Starbucks scene though, HAHA WOW that was hilarious!

A great start, looking forward to more of this series.

still i can'take Araragi-kun as a dirty mangaka /father seriously lol though with his personality and the art style this reminds me of zesubou sensei

Wow, I love it so far! The comedy is on point, the color palette and backgrounds are soft and relaxing, the characters all seem very fun! Also, I've been blessed with another flumpool OP. The ED is great as well. I'm a sucker for family relationships, and Hime is such a good child. Rieri is a perfect fit as Hime. Seems like both series that Ajia-Do is working on this season are going to be my favorites.

Ah. This has lighthearted Zetsubo Sensei vibes. Looked up the creator and it made sense lol. Hiroshi as the father and Rie as the daughter. These 3 things alone is enough for me to guarantee i'll finish this show. Im using this along with Honzuki as my feel good/wholesome shows of the spring. Funny enough the same studio is doing both.

2. Rieri
3. Zetsubou Sensei author

Being Kamiya and with all the inner monologue, it just reminds me of Monogatari's Araragi with all his inner monologue. Not a bad thing either.

The Starbucks bit was pretty humorous. Got a small laugh in when they made ordering drinks seem like some demonic spell.

Overall, it was an okay start.

They are blood related father and daughter from start to finish, which is pretty much confirmed in first episode and I doubt the author will pull off something that depraved.

Wow, even better than I expected! I was already intrigued by the premise and thought it'd be good, but this first episode exceeded it!

I like the animation style, it's so cute. And I particularly love the colours! It's so beautiful, especially the blue skies and the green plants.

The music is also really unique. I felt like I was listening to some 80's tune for the ED lol

I'm expecting some feels, especially with that melancholic tone early on. Also the OP showed Kakushi disappearing, did he pass away? That'd be pretty sad if he did. Here's hoping he won't and he'll get to see Hime grow up big and happy.

But what I like best are the characters, I think. My favourite is Hime. She's so cute and pure and innocent and just such a nice girl. Also, she has one pretty wild imagination with those guesses at her father's editor. The comedy was pretty nice, I wasn't expecting it to be funny. I found the scene where they chased Kakushi thinking he was the hero and going on and on about the "oshapi" to be funny. Mostly because Hime started saying "Wait... isn't this just Star-" lol and the second time too.

But Kakushi's relationship with his daughter is pretty sweet. I love watching them together, just talking. I wonder what happened to Hime's mom... seems she died by the looks of it seeing from the portrait.

Looking forward to following this this season! I'm expecting it to be one of my favourites.

Have you noticed that Hime was travelling on the characteristic green train of the Enoshima Electric Railway line (and if I remember correctly she got off at the Gokurakuji station)? I know it is not a big thing, but for some reason that line must be iconic in Japan for it has been featured in a lot of anime I have watched or heard of (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, Slam Dunk, Aoi Hana, Elfen lied, Fireworks, Monster girls, Tari tari...) I don't know if there is any other line in Japan that has been featured so many times in anime. I suppose it has to be the scenic view of Enoshima bay that makes every other mangaka place their story there.
