Sword Art Online (light novel)
| The anime community is now getting more and more divided about Sao after the release of alicization. Many haters are actually started warming to the series, many lovers have started disliking the series because it is not about games anymore. The view of anime YouTubers is also getting mixed up. Treesicle and Ashley from WatchMojo have given a thumbs up to the series while mothers basement like always hated it. Nux taku liked the first half of alicization and will look forward to the next part. While others like gigguk have stayed dormant about it even though they are watching it. Chibi is actively reviewing alicization and loving it and many small YouTubers have given positive review. I, myself thought that Sao was a mediocre series before this but this season is so damn good! |

| I've always loved the series (except for ALO) but yeah Alicization is quite amazing so far. Even though the focus is off Kirito for a while, I'm really enjoying getting to know these new characters. Alice is also my favorite female character in the franchise, definitely. | Strangely my opinion about SAO hasn't changed one bit compare to any previous installation. My opinion about SAO: Interesting premises gimped by stupid writing and forced/ shallow character development. Like both season 1, movie, and Alicization start off strong with very interesting premises and world building, and falls short as soon as "real story" kicks in. Like Alicization has a very good start that intrigued me for first 10 episodes, only to fall super short after the climbing tower and defeat villains arc. And it keeps getting worse and worse in this season 2 of Alicization with this poorly written war going on. Guess it make sense because all of them are written by the same guy anyway, so it's no surprise their quality is about the same. |

I'll state why I and many others like this season compared to the others. First of all, we're getting some real development for our new mc, Alice. At first, she was an emotionless, memoryless robotic knight who just did what she was told to do. From there she went on to ep 7 of war of underworld where she questioned the need of war. I just love these kind of characters. Moreover we are getting some interesting backstories about the other integrity knights and getting to know their ideals to fight. The villain is a well written mad person for the first time in Sao history. That is how to do a mad villain. Show his backstory that he was a mad lad right from the childhood and show the horrifying things he did. The characters are so good that it undos the predictability of the plot. If alicization was good, this season till now is great. I love character driven stories way more than plot driven stories. Definitely at least a 9/10 for me but I'm giving it a 10 for the improvement of one author. |

| i've been discuss with my friend alot about this changing arc stuff and how gonna be turn out in anime adaptation (around 2017) and yes its actually quite different from 2 series before. and lot better tbh. in the ln tho i can say, alicization is the one best arc who been completely getting a good development (from character, plot story, etc). and no wonder this series from getting hate now turnout to be people who hated is slowly getting to watch this series. |

| I love Alicization from when I read the novels time ago, it's my favorite SAO arc. The arc in the novels is so much better than how it's in the anime adaptation but I'm loving the anime too thanks to the great art style, music and, you know, to see everything be animated with this quality is awesome. |

I'm an Indian and you don't get people who absolutely hate it here. The anime community is fairly new in our country so many people have started their anime love with Sao. Concisely, it is one of the most popular animes and don't get so much hate in all of Asia. |

| Anime youtubers are just a small and insignificant part of the anime community. Mothersbasement and others who repeat talking points like "bad writing" and "no character development" and who use dumb arguments to back their claims are not representative of the average anime fan. SAO also is the best selling Light Novel series and one of the biggest franchises in Japan. SAO will go on, no matter how many people speedwatch a few episodes and leave a 3/10 review. |

Not the work that Kawahara wrote which has much more details, backgrounds, motivations,worldbuilding, internal monologues and tons of things that had to be cut in the anime for it to be made in 48 episodes. This arc don't works as well on anime because it was thought to be made as a writing piece in LN format, so the anime has many holes as it can't exactly do all that a LN can do. That was literally the reason for why I began to read the LN when the anime ended in this year, because I could see how many things had holes and I found all of those things on the 10 volumes of LN that I read, and much more. |
| Best way how to deal with anime (or manga) based in novel source: 1. watch the anime, obviously avoiding spoilers for a pure experience. 2. if it was good enough to keep you interested about the plot holes or something you guess missing, then read the novel after the episodes. Then you can rate the whole work properly. --------------- Unless you are a legit fan of novels, the point of watch the anime first is too important. You never will find a novel reader spontaneously amazed, intrigued or immersed in the story of a new anime, enjoying the full potential of a well directed animation (art, sound, music etc). This true experience was already lost with the book, and now just criticism is left, specially against anime viewers who are naturally complaining or wondering about a plot they dont know the whole. |

| Alicization is quite amazing so far. At first, I was worried cuz the movie prequel was the first time that I give SAO a score below 6. Also, Mother’s Basement just follow the popular opinion, it changes like the wind. We must not pay attention to him. |

| I'm neither a fanboy nor a hater to SAO. For me, the show itself had huge ups and downs per season enough that my opinion is jumping around between positive and negative like a see-saw. Aincrad arc is the best arc and the rest of all arcs felt like fillers to me. Alicization first season had a promising start but got worse at the end. Then 2nd season started promising again until Liz's speech which took a nose dive and last episode couldn't save it so my opinion is negative for now. They should just drop this 'waifu collecting' in each game and hurry up with Kayaba Akihiko/Laughing Coffin stuff. |
